you can find dolls at goodwill cheap. then there are many videos on how to spruce them back up. you can fix the hair with fabric softener or there is a boiling water method. its fun to do together (obv for safety im not saying kids should do the boiling part) and you can actually find rare and beautiful toys. also a garment from goodwill can make several doll outfits or accessories.

I loved that she mentioned the binary within which America operates, which is: black or white. It's always funny to me that we're not "supposed" to assume someone's gender identity, but the same isn't applied to a fair skinned Native American person. I sometimes feel that, when people call Trixie white, that she doesn't defend that assumption too much because the "you present white" argument will be thrown at her. That's annoying.

I feel like this as a white-passing Aboriginal person too. But the only times I've been told I'm 'not Aboriginal enough' has been by white people and been accepted by mob just fine.
I totally acknowledge where the privileges are, but I use it to my advantage- being able to white-pass in everyday means a lot of people assume, and I'm able to access spaces & see what they're actually like from the inside (or see how gammin they are as we say)

I very much acknowledge that I am white-passing and have white privilege but it's honestly so saddening how many people have told me to my face "You're not native. You're white. Your skin is white. I only used Dior foundation for years, then they discontinued the one I was using and I was trying all sorts of expensive foundations. Then Trixie recommended Maybelline super stay and it's my go-to now! And I absolutely love not spending $50+ on foundation anymore! 🙌🏻
