Thank you so much! I’ve got my first event this summer and this information is really useful - can’t wait to try it

Is the mount where you wear it on your thigh when running and move it between your legs when swimming out of favor? I like that setup for swimming as I hate any amount of gripping to keep the pull buoy between my legs, but could see these being more comfortable for running for sure. (I don't have much experience)

That’s a great question! It has a bit. While it’s still personal preference, with the introduction of larger pull buoys it’s more cumbersome to wear them on the thigh comfortably and most, if not all, of the top teams are using the lower back mount. It’s Swimrun though, so the ethos of “you do you” applies.

What type of material is the rope?

Hey Clayton, the material is usually called paracord or shockcord.

Here is the paracord we have been using from Amazon (amzn.to/3j5KfqU). We opted for the 3/16" which is just shy of 5mm. If you get 25ft or more you will have enough to make your tether as well.

@@lowtideboyz just about to DIY my first buoy. Are you using 3/16 or 1/4 (just clarifying cause another post of yours says 1/4”)
Also, does the simple mount decrease Adductor squeeze a bit since it pulls up into your crotch more than lasso?
      thanks!

@@davidterlicher1985 1/4” works best in our opinion but it depends on what you prefer. I love the simple Mount for the exact reason that you point out. The tension from the simple mount keeps the pull buoy in place with little to no need for squeezing it with your thighs to keep it in place.

I don't see why anyone who's trying to swim fast would want a pull buoy.

The buoy helps negate the drag from swimming with your shoes. Helps get your body in a better position to help swim more streamlined. Give it a try and let us know how it goes!
