    Hi. Tried this and wondering how you avoid having the cord pull through the buoy? Followed your instructions but seems my cord is going to eventually pull all the way out. I have a picture but not able to upload it here but hopefully you know what I mean. Thank you.

      Do you mean you feel the cord will cut through the buoy? This can be common and you might want to reinforce the area with some high strength tape. We like the Gorilla Tape. Wrap that around once or twice and repoke the hole. Hope that helps.

    Thanks for the many tips! I thought nutrition wouldn't be an issue for me because of the short distances I can manage. But especially on hot days in a wetsuit I sweat a lot more than I thought, so I got cramps and felt sick. So these tips have come at just the right time!

    Hi! I'm new to swimrun and from what I heard in this podcast I wondered if I could use a trisuit for a simrun race in warm waters. It's definitely very comfortable for running and the fabrics are also hydrophobic. Maybe more water is going to come in into the suit but, it's also true that in the races a "bib shirt" has to be worn over the wetsuit, which I guess isn't very hydrodynamic... Just to know what you think about it. Thank you!

    • @lowtideboyz
      @lowtideboyz Месяц назад

      Great question! A tri suit/swim skin is a good place to start especially if you don’t want to drop any extra money. We would recommend that you do get a pull buoy to help with the flotation and better body position in the water.

    What’s water temp look like the last 2 years? Seems mixed on info. Odysseys says 60… online databases says average is 67 in November (with minimum at 64). I’ll be racing this year!

    • @lowtideboyz
      @lowtideboyz 2 месяца назад

      It is a great race and you will have a blast! We would guess water temps would be low to mid 60s. With the warmer air temps the swims will be very refreshing.

    I am an ultra runner so running is a lock for me. I am comfortable in the water and have spent hundreds of hours free diving, but I am not a competitive swimmer. I am basically a beginner when it comes to freestyle/crawl swimming for distance. I've got over eight months until my race, how would you counsel someone in my position? Do you have videos you like for runners learning to swim for SwimRun?

    • @lowtideboyz
      @lowtideboyz 6 месяцев назад

      Hi Chris! That's a great question. Our take on it so to just start swimming and be consistent over the eight months that you have before your race and get more specific in terms of race pace/distances/etc. as you get closer. If you feel like you need swim instruction, seek a local masters swim program or tri club that can help with technique. I wouldn't worry too much about using paddles and pull buoys until you've been swimming consistently for a few months. Better to build up slowly and work on your form/technique before doing anything Swimrun-specific. See you out there!

    Great analysis! I bought a pair out of fomo cos they were selling out fast However, not sure if theyre for me, as I primarily wanted trail shoes, where you might want something with a little bit of waterproof due to long wet grass and marshes However I'm giving them a chance due to the long return window, and I need some protection for river swimming Do you have any recommendations for socks? Also, would you use these in conjunction with a wet suit when swimming in like, 5.9 degrees C sea water, or would you need a wet suit like sock with it?
