💯 Sad that wasn't picked up by Andrew given his new "omniperspective" approach. The prphibition in Ocean City is mostly respected, but only so far as it is known that there are other places and ways to have the desired fun. Laws are really just guidelines for setting boundaries in terms of what should be punished. The respect for and application of the laws is mostly up to the individual and a risk-benefit based decision.
My dad was an alcoholic and past away due to it at 52yo and one of my best friends just past away at age 29 due to cirrhosis of the liver. Very important video and well done video as always.
It’s scary. I thought drinking couldn’t kill you until your late 30s or your 40s unless you drank too much one time and got alcohol poisoning. Nope, it can destroy your body much quicker than that. A guy I worked with almost died at 27 from his chronic drinking. To be fair, his gf said he’d been drunk everyday since he was 16, but still 27 is so young. He lived, and is doing great, he can just never drink again. Likely he won’t live till old age due to the damage however. It was a major reality check. I had been drinking pretty heavily since my college days (like getting drunk 3-4 nights a week) till up till recently, drinking probably a handle and two 30 racks every month. Since he almost died I’ve cut down on my drinking a lot. I probably have 30 drinks a month now.
@@bakedstreetyt he was drinking very heavily almost every single day for many years. Sometimes he would say he wanted to kill himself with it but by the end when his eyes were yellow and his skin was wild looking. His feet swelling beyond belief and his mind was going he was so scared. All he wanted to do was live at that point but by the time he was diagnosed it only took about a month and a half until he died. Miss him all the time.

Much like Wisconsin, in Mid-Michigan we were all alcoholics from the get-go. Many of us wound up with DUIs, jail time, probation, etc. I destroyed my life not once but twice because of booze and benzos. I'll have 10 years sober this November. I just wish I would have woken up sooner. Towns like Ocean City should be treasured and maintained, not defeated. It's refreshing even as someone wholeheartedly for drug regulation.
it's interesting to see the stark difference in tone between this documentary and the last two. i really appreciate how andrew gives a great amount of respect to topics as serious as the things going on in kensington and san francisco and saves the humor for a more lighthearted setting like ocean city. it shouldnt be hard to do that but yknow, youtubers are youtubers i guess... also, i grew up in somers point which is right across the other bridge going into ocean city and that bridge also has a liquor store immediately to the side the second you get off the bridge and into town lmao

I hit the thumbs up before the video, cause I know my boy Andrew is going to drop 1000% journalistic integrity on every story. This is what our tax dollars deserve, Channel Five all day!
@@dudeguy7347My point is we should receive real unbiased news reports from all media sources as tax paying citizens that have a real steak in the economy of this country, yet both cable news and print media are all bought and paid for to the highest bidder. We have just a handful of trusted news sources like Andrew with actual journalistic integrity willing to talk to people on the ground without cuts or edits or fear of sponsorship intimidation. Channel 5 should be the standard of in-depth analysis and coverage for all news stories.
As a South Jersey local it is important to note that right before all the bridges into OC, there are a good number of large liquor stores. So a lot of tourists from Philly and NY will stop there to pick up all their party supplies for the weekend. So yeah there is no bars or liqour licenses in OC, but plenty still drink.
The problem isn't tourists it's crackheads loitering outside the convenience store drinking malt liquor all day. You move the malt liquor out of walking distance of your town and suddenly transients aren't so interested anymore.
Been to the US once in my life (and funnily in ocean city in that time) and I just wanted to comment that we got shit tons of alcohol in these stores which makes it kinda ironic.

I lost my sister in law in 2022 from multiple organ shut down, she was 32 and it was from sever alcohol use. She was a medical journalist whom was very smart, but she didn't live to see sober. Thank you for making this, I've always tried to tell people how our society perception of alcohol is not okay, it's celebrated encouraged. Not realizing how dangerous alcohol is and I am a recovering alcoholic as well. Be safe stay educated
Good luck staying sober, dude.

@@cliffhooper3558why are you bringing presidents into the conversation?…
So Obama made the OP’s relative drink to death?… Biden?.. genuinely… you know that America is one of the heaviest consumers of alcohol in the world?..
Your comment is literally bait. What point are you making?… Obama caused alcoholism? 😂
Bruv. Alcoholism isn’t something created in the past 12 years!
Thats why its banned in islam
This was a lovely change from some of the more gruesome pieces. Whilst still retaining that quality and depth, great job Andrew.
The men's restroom guy was spittin facts
💯 Sad that wasn't picked up by Andrew given his new "omniperspective" approach. The prphibition in Ocean City is mostly respected, but only so far as it is known that there are other places and ways to have the desired fun. Laws are really just guidelines for setting boundaries in terms of what should be punished. The respect for and application of the laws is mostly up to the individual and a risk-benefit based decision.
restroom guy is a legend
love men's restroom guy
Yah I love guys in restrooms
It very clearly was, since it was put mostly unedited into the final video
thank you for this Andrew, i genuinely really appreciate you and your work
My dad was an alcoholic and past away due to it at 52yo and one of my best friends just past away at age 29 due to cirrhosis of the liver. Very important video and well done video as always.
Dude must have been drinking 40 ounces everyday to die at 29 from it damn
All depends on the person. Some can use responsibly, some can't. Just the hard truth.
As a delco native, Ocean City has always been a nostalgic boardwalk spot... I knew it was a dry town but as someone who doesnt drink, I never really thought it made much difference
Fuck delco
Brandon Buckingham is the GOAT
Not drinking and being from Delco is an oxymoron
It doesn't. For people who want to drink, they can just drive 20 minutes to a liquor store or a bar.
Omg that clip with your cousins was so adorable, love seeing kids just being kids without giving a damn

Great thoughtful episode that was clearly just started Andrew ruminating on his childhood and favorite childhood vacay spot.
The Draft-dodger lookin' guy was very very well spoken and a pretty intriguing dude, hopefully he bumps into him again in episode 2
Andrew has been on a spree with this real street journalism on Americas most pressing issues right now. The way he left the contract in All Gas No Brakes and yet managed to make it on his own makes him a true inspiration to aspiring independent journalists like me.

i grew up in wildwood (little less than an hour away from Ocean City) and i can't put into words the excitement i had for this episode 😂 wildwood is known as the trashy/party beach and Ocean City is the one we'd go with family/kids. i hope OC never changes, it's a really nice atmosphere
really? i think oc and wildwood is for the younger crowd. i feel like capemay is more family friendly. even tho the boardwalk is like one block lmao. i guess it’s good for the beach and the outside mall
Wildwood is a party town because it’s traditional for a lot of senior highschooler to go on vacation after prom to party before graduation.
Wildwood is where the families who party and 17-25 year olds party while OC is where the families who boring go and is all kids then you got AC where you go once you can't handle being around all the kids swarming the boardwalk and just wanna party w/ all 21+
Wildwood forever 🖤

What do you mean by literally?
Much like Wisconsin, in Mid-Michigan we were all alcoholics from the get-go. Many of us wound up with DUIs, jail time, probation, etc. I destroyed my life not once but twice because of booze and benzos. I'll have 10 years sober this November. I just wish I would have woken up sooner. Towns like Ocean City should be treasured and maintained, not defeated. It's refreshing even as someone wholeheartedly for drug regulation.
My county is dry, and the majority of surrounding counties are dry, except one adjacent, the only county around, sells alcohol
You put benzos in there like they aren’t worse than heroine😂😂
@@potatohead3323it’s all subjective man
In nc we still have dry counties near the mountains.
Congrats on nearly 10 years
That line at 17:02 by Andrew was so clean
nah fr that was on the spot too
it's interesting to see the stark difference in tone between this documentary and the last two. i really appreciate how andrew gives a great amount of respect to topics as serious as the things going on in kensington and san francisco and saves the humor for a more lighthearted setting like ocean city. it shouldnt be hard to do that but yknow, youtubers are youtubers i guess...
also, i grew up in somers point which is right across the other bridge going into ocean city and that bridge also has a liquor store immediately to the side the second you get off the bridge and into town lmao
"That's why you're my favorite cousin" you're an amazing cousin and journalist, keep on keeping on!
Why is this the only news channel I trust and care to watch.
never stop doing what you do. the coverage youve been doing the last few months has been incredible and very important
Love watching this video 11.5 months sober! Love from Miami!
My transient brother in Christ was spitting that wisdom, man. Bro was finely tuned in while somehow also being completely tuned out, my best wishes to that gentleman. 😂
Beach week is crazy, they put kegs on the buses that go up and down the road that parallels the boardwalk. At least it was like that in 1995 lol.
Thank you for all you say around minute 13:00 on drugs. My father has been on the streets using in SoCal since I was 9 I’m 41 now. And seeing the humans around me be cool with alcohol use in excess vs the unempathic attitude towards anyone who goes to drugs. “welp don’t do drugs then” it’s so cold and so hypocritical. Thank you for articulating this so well.
THE MOST POWERFUL-MEANINGFUL VIDEO YOU'VE MADE BRO
I love that this is based in my home state of NJ! But this video hit hard. I'm doing dry January right now and it's been such a difficult time for me. I began drinking at 13 and as a 30 year old am finally taking control of my alcohol dependence. I've been becoming more open with it because I was so embarrassed by it / it's such a normalized culture. I told myself I'd go to AA but a lot of youtubers including yourself have been making amazing videos like these and it's been my support reading comments/Watching.
If you're struggling it's never too late to change your life! Support is in areas you wouldn't imagine!! Great video!!
Congrats on making a change (and encouraging others). All the best, you got this!
do your best bud :) wishing you luck
let's do a shot when youre done :)
Have a few kids bro. You won’t have any time or motivation to get drunk. If you been able to afford alcohol this long. You can EASILY afford kids. I’m your same age, I feel it brother. God bless. Everything in moderation
@NP-xx8nt
Tell that to all the kids with alcoholic parents
Hey Andrew, have been watching your videos for the longest time and I love your style of journalism. How you cover any topic is just fun and interesting to watch. Please keep up the frequency of uploads as you have been doing lately and this channel will be very massive because nobody trusts normal media to give us an honest view of what's really happening in America.I never want to see this channel die.❤

There’s nothing like a jersey shore summer and I stand by that. Many amazing memories. Surprisingly only been to Ocean City once before, mine were spent mostly in Cape May and Wildwood, sometimes Seaside.
Thank you Andrew. We repspect your journalism
Thanks! Such a nice break from the heavy previous episodes. More good, light hearted stuff please!
I can see your processes evolve, Andrew. It's reflected in your work too. Nice stuff.
24:19 this guy is surprisingly well spoken
A prime example of why you can't judge a book by its cover.
What's so surprising about a person sitting down and enjoying himself . Does this imply he is some how unintelligent? What are you insinuating
I think our life experiences might be significantly different. Most people I meet sitting quietly with a generally unkempt appearance have had some sort of sage advice to dispense. I immediately assumed he was about to say something important lol
This man is a national treasure. The best in the game.
The conversation with the kids at the start is just hilarious :,D
I love how your content is evolving and the frequency that you drop new stuff, keep freaking killing it Andrew!
Without exaggeration, this may be your best video yet. You objectively show the reality of US history, sociology, economics, and more, all with an amazingly hilarious touch without diminishing from the severity of the issues being covered.

I have family there and had a blast going to the boardwalk when we were kids. There is a monster liquor store just before the bridge to OC.

I hit the thumbs up before the video, cause I know my boy Andrew is going to drop 1000% journalistic integrity on every story. This is what our tax dollars deserve, Channel Five all day!
what do your tax dollars have to do with Channel Five?
@@dudeguy7347My point is we should receive real unbiased news reports from all media sources as tax paying citizens that have a real steak in the economy of this country, yet both cable news and print media are all bought and paid for to the highest bidder. We have just a handful of trusted news sources like Andrew with actual journalistic integrity willing to talk to people on the ground without cuts or edits or fear of sponsorship intimidation. Channel 5 should be the standard of in-depth analysis and coverage for all news stories.
Congrats on the expansion of the channel! Really happy for it, people need more of this journalism...
2:42 "You guys enjoy the $500!"
I shit myself laughing.
Your cousins are perfect.
His ability to be so self aware yet still make an interesting-to-watch segment is nothing short of art
The very first store on the boardwalk sells Yetis. Guess what those are for?
good to know 💯
Been to the US once in my life (and funnily in ocean city in that time) and I just wanted to comment that we got shit tons of alcohol in these stores which makes it kinda ironic.
Tomorrow marks my 3 years sober from alcohol. Thank you for making this video alot of people think of booze being totally fine, but it can and will destroy your life.
Thanks andrew!

I used to work with this guy and I started drinking 1 beer on the way home everyday. From then on I drank a 6 pack of tall boy bud lights every night before bed for 3 years and I’m 1 year clean.
