      there are a few options in between and proper journalism is still being done everywhere...
      i'm not saying mr Andrew's efforts and intentions shouldn't be recognized (the more we understand what's going on the better for everyone) but we're acting a bit silly :)
      (someone like Maria Hinojosa covering this very topic for over 30yrs for example, following migrants, caravans, smugglers, etc.. or Julieta Martinelli, another award winner who's been reporting on the ground on this subject and many more related since at least 2018...)

    • @CudiPeakedatMOTM
      @CudiPeakedatMOTM 3 месяца назад +3

      @@duroxkilooh I am sure there are still reputable journalists out there. From what I can gather online Maria Hinojosa only recently got into the tv game with her own broadcasting company playing on pbs. I believe Andrew is also independent (self funded) and not backed by huge media conglomerates. My comment was more aimed at the ilk of fox, cnn, etc. that produce nothing but rage bait and will not do any actual reporting as it goes against their donors wallets. Andrew just reaches a wider audience than the examples you provided and most certainly in a younger age demographic. Thank you for providing more reporters though that everyone can look into to gain more information on the subject.

      i wish mr Andrew and other young folks w/ great intentions would find ways to collaborate in some form w/ seasoned journalists because it's super difficult to properly do this job.
      just 'jumping in' has it's merits and can be impactful but i'm afraid complex topics require something more and this is as complex of a topic as it gets.
      ps: there;s a voice included in each and every documentary montage on 'exotic social topics', we've all heard that voice reporting the news in the background... Amy Goodman is a queen of journalism, she's a week late on most 'hot topics' :) but if she covers something, it's pretty much a guarantee the subject is an important one for the society...
      she and her team was on the border yrs ago, but they constantly cover this subject. i may be mistaken but i think it was at the time that ASU professor was being charged/harassed by the previous administration for basically not letting migrants die of dehydration in the desert. @@CudiPeakedatMOTM

      @@HaloDude557 It's funny that in the early 1900's, the 40H work and the 9-5 were progressive ideas, because many people were working even crazier hours such as 12 hours/day, 6 days/week. One extra challenge of modern work culture that I feel people don't pay enough attention to is that although we work less hours per week than the average worker in the 50s-80s, you're now expected to do a lot of extra work that's not accounted for in official numbers (such as responding to work emails and texts from your boss outside work). Also, the number of unpaid overtime hours has risen, so you're getting less bang for your buck. There's some studies on a 32H work week, and although that may not be feasible for all industries, numerous studies show it can quite noticeably increase productivity, resulting in little loss or even potential gain for business, while obviously providing great mental and/or physicial benefits for the workers.
