I like new music but I am disappointed these aren’t actually geese
You should check out the band Goose then. Oh wait a second....Damn it!
I went to middle school with the bassist. Absolutely insane to see Dominic on Colbert.
They are so good!
Just saw them last nite in Philly. Dominic is extremely talented. They all are!
what an amazing singer !! range dynamics, charisma he has it all !
Definitely some garage, noise, post-punk and prog vibes. Found this band some months ago and have listened to their debut very often, added it to my collection a couple of weeks ago.
Kinda shocked to see how young they look but I guess that is probably more of a reflection on my age.
They just graduated high school last year and smartly decided to run with the album and performing. I'm so glad they did. Can't wait to see them live.
I had a customer who is the lead singers uncle ask me to check it out so here I am. Keep up the good work and best wishes
I’m SUPER happy that you trusted my recommendation and enjoyed it!
Cheers!
Mike
This is so wholesome!
Good to see some rough and ready guitar rock on TV again
Hell yeah 🤘🏼
What a fantastic band! Very refreshing to hear, can’t wait to see more of them!
I’ve heard this song numerous times on WXPN radio & really enjoyed it. Seeing the musicians behind the music blew me away - somehow thought they’d be much older, jazzier etc. Awesome performance & love the white tee shirts. Rock on, Geese! P.S. I’m 67 ❤️
Saw Geese live last night in Pittsburgh opening for Jack White. Pretty impressive, especially when it was obvious they were so damn young. Immediately reminded of The Strokes and a young Julian Casablancas, a friend of Jack’s and The Strokes’ frontman. Can’t be a coincidence he chose them to open at three gigs.
Love this band too. Indeed, a “Low Era”.
Check them out. Album is Projector. I love this band. You’ll love it.
This band is bad. This is objective.
Interesting sound and vibe. Super dope vocal inflections going on, singer is definitely on to something
Trash. People like this? lmao
@@hanburgundy4317 yes
@@hanburgundy4317 Hey, Hans. GFY! LMAO!
I was their 800th subscriber on RUclips. Fed an early adopter and I knew they were gonna blow up. Had their album on repeat for months.
Nice cross between 90s era grung and 60s era psychedelia. They'd be right at home here in the "Seattle" scene.
Uh, they pale in comparison to the Seattle scene in its prime. The best you can honestly call it is derivative.
GO GEESE!!!! 🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶🪶
Love these guys so much. Projector was my 2021 album of the year. They're definitely going places. Heck, they're opening for Spoon this April.
Great sound! Love this band!
Wrong. Bad sound for my team.
These guys are absolutely fantastic. Love the lyrics. Thank you. -C
Told my husband I saw a great new band on Colbert. He asked "what genre" and i answered "classic rock, kind of". Him: "that doesn't make sense". After 60 seconds: "oh, yeah, classic rock"
You guys rocked it! 🙌
Loved it!
Very original sound; I do hear a tiny bit of The Doors vibe
A "tiny"?? I hear a LOT of Jim Morrison there
More than a "tiny" bit. Completely identical.
@@MichaelLasotaTW identical? 😂 I don’t think you know what that means.
@@Nrvous68 That's only accidental, it's closer to joy division
@@jimsykes6843 I guess so. Otherwise it'd be an impersonator.
Interesting vocal exercises. Love it.
Sooo good! 🌼❤️
This is low key REALLY GOOD !!
Oh yeah! Got that Jim Morrison feel! Excellent! Can't wait to see where these guy's 'fly' off to! ✌️ ROCKIN'
Their album is Projector. They are amazing!!!!
Love these guys. Very reminiscent of the Vancouver Indie-Punk scene in the 80s.
Excellent.
The 2008 indie sleaze is hitting back.
AWESOME BAND!!!!!!!
Wrong.
Colbert got them when they were young. They are ON THIER WAY. (Jim Morrison sits up in His grave and takes notice).
Yeah I know the bassist and one guitarist they are 19 and 18
@@ethanwaller8106 cool!
Hell yeah! They can play the Crown any day..
Pretty good band, haven't seen them before. Some of those vocal inflections are reminiscent of Jim Morrison. Overall tone of the song has a Doors feel to it. That sort of driving basic style was popular in grunge also.
Agreed.
as well as Mark E Smith
The Doors also had a pretty big influence on The Strokes. I mean, just listen to anything from them when they started.
The melody is nice
You guys are great. Been loving the album.
Wish you were joining Spoon in Richmond, VA. Maybe next time.
I like it. I'll have to hear how the studio version sounds. Punk and lo fi go hand in hand.
Projector is the name of their album. It’s amazing.
You won't be disappointed. 👍🏽
@@bearpitrock oh boy are you right. Just listened. So good. Everyone is good. Many surprises. I particularly love the bass.
Album is great.
The lead singer's rant and musicality very reminiscent of Jim Morrison (Doors) even the shaggy hair.
I was waiting for the "punk" part, and it didn't happen. This is rock music from the 1960s. They do it well, though.
There is actually a significant punk influence in this.
Listen to their other songs. Amazing.
It's totally more talking heads and post-punk, seriously you commentators are driving me crazy. They're not a 60s rock band whatsoever
Next big band.
i was kinda hopin for ACTUAL geese.
Wanna hear that on XRT!
Is it me or does this bands music, and a lot of Colberts guests, sound a little like the late ‘60s and early ‘70s era? I love it!
Check out their album Projector. Amazing.
Yeah but a mess on purpose, less drugs.
@@vashumashu4359 hey….don’t knock the drug use….some of the best music made came from less than sober minds!
Seriously, dudes, it's not hard. They're a post-punk band, a genre that started in late 1970s/early 1980s and had a big revival in the 2000s. They do not sound like the Doors, or ELP, or Men at Work (?), or the 1960s. Just google post-punk, read the Wikipedia, and work your way through those bands until you figure it out.
@@jimsykes6843 seriously? Nobody sounded like the Doors! Or ELP! Or “men at work!” (Wherever the heck that came from) ….EVER!
Getting a Television-via-Strokes vibe
I can see this band being a big outfit by the end of the year.
Check out their album Projector its awesome.
Cool name.
Geese: if The Doors + Nirvana had a baby.
So refreshing to see a boys band that actually play in contrast to other BS bands that don't play any instrument
well, not all of them are boys tho lol
Interesting attempt to merge Talking Heads with the Doors.
My geezer review of Geese: wouldn’t choose to listen again but I enjoyed this performance.
Last I checked Geese don't use Doors
😄
Sound like a Television- Strokes tribute band.
HONK IF YOU GOT EM
Gonna have to eq the hell out this for repeated listenings.
Listen to other songs of theirs. They’re awesome.
the album is clean
In 20 years, if human beings are still even playing instruments, we're going to say that [new band in 2042] reminds us of Geese.
These are young musicians who are doing what they love. You have to respect that. I hear many influences; Television, Early Talking Heads and the great Patty Smith, to name a few. They have a New York sound and in time they will probably create their own version of it. The rhythm section is pretty good and stood out for me. I hope the band does well. Music is a tough business to be in but at least recording is easier today.
This kind of reminds me of a band if a castrated Eddie Vedder joined Spin Doctors.
They're Ganders though
The doors happened years ago.
Geese
Jim Morrivedder.
Kind of like Jimi Hendrix meets Sugarcubes, I like it. Definitely room to grow, a little green. In a good way.
No they do not sound like Jimi Hendrix. Have any of you listened to any music after 1980? At least the sugarcubes is somewhat heading in the right direction
AM I IN THE THRUSH OF A NEW INFATUATION... SURE... BUT WHATEVER... I AM GAGA4GEESE!
Weird, cool
Oh the lead singer is definitely a “Lizard King” disciple.
But these where people. Misleading. 😐
Music's not bad, but I clicked on this expecting to see actual geese biting Republicans or something. Of course, I live in Canada where geese realistically would do that.
I expected them to be Canadian.
I was disappointed for the first minute or so, but the longer it played, the better it got. I find more and more that the music I end up liking best, I usually disliked at first. I like the barely controlled chaos. It sounds a mess at first, but my ears eventually start to pick out the patterns, and that makes it interesting. It's similar to what Julian Casablancas has been doing with the Voidz. (The barely controlled chaos, that is. This band sounds nothing like the Voidz.) I will be checking out their album (if I can find it.) I'm just sorry that so many people prefer what they already know, so the machinery keeps pumping out the same stuff, star after star. It makes it so much harder for bands like this to be heard.
Not punk in any sense of the word. However, they do have an early to mid-00's alternative music sound to them. Like they would be on the same ticket as Hot Hot Heat, White Rabbit, Spoon, Beirut and Cold War Kids. This is some serious hipster darling music. (Are Hipsters even around any more? Or did the Influencers make them go the way of the dodo?)
They’re actually opening for Spoon a new times on their upcoming tour
I had to listen to them because there's a great jam band named Goose. These guys have potential but Goose is more original.
definitely true. they need to push their more ambient sounds and less so the strokes styles they've been using. Then again, we're the ones in the comments section and they're on stage.
Crude Dave Matthews; I like it lots.
So much for new rock bands 😢
Dont like Colbert but the Band is fantastic
i like turtles
Get on the bandwagon.
My mom made my turn the TV off when she heard this. She said this type of music should only be listened to while defecating. So I had to come here the next morning to RUclips to listen to the song. Sadly, after hearing it, I kind of agree with my mom. And, ironically, I now have to hit the bathroom, so maybe I’ll give it a second listen.
Talented people with a significantly broader sense of musical possibility don’t make comments like this.
Kudos to your scatalogically challenged family.
I thought "bands" were history!
It was nice of their parents to let them play on a school night. Keep practicing, boys!
Uh video...
Doors influenced much?
No they sound nothing like the Doors.
Nice to get rock on tv if only television wasn’t a dying media with arguably the worst queens of the stone age copycat style I’ve seen in a hot moment
Queens of the Stone Age is WAY heavier and more metal than this.
Geese’s other output reaches beyond your blindly ignorant assessment; their influences and style range more widely.
Son, YOUS all is burds? Sir is yous geese. Cause dang bird men. Ya ain’t good.
That's a nope for me.
wtf is "dance punk"?
am i the only one who thought this was absolute garage and did not merit being on any late night show?
Maybe you’re the only one. Yaaayyyy…You get a cookie. Now go eat it in your garage.
Agreed, you are the only one
@@neguscat Listened to it again and it actually sounds like a pretty good impersonation of Jimmy Fallon doing a doors punk rock satire song
I thought this was Goose, which a much better band than this.
“Much better” is an opinion (and you might know what opinions are like…).
Goose seems to fly somewhere in between Phish and Spafford, but with seemingly nothing edgy or risky. Their art is definitely not punk; they’re a different subspecies.
Headache inducing
Sokay, Grandma. Shhhhh shhhhh
way to steal Goose's name
What? Stomp or blink your eyelids once if you understand the distinction.
With different vocals and melodies this could have been an awesome song.
Yea it would be a different band. Expand your horizons.
Well, then you should play hero and step in when Geese welcomes your input.
Ouch! my ears, that was so awful!
Singer sounds like Car Seat Headrest rip off
by far the worst I have seen in a year, terrible unskilled voice, the world LOW can't be highlighted enough
Totally disagree. I’ve heard the whole album. They’re really good.
What a great commentary, diva! You’re in competition, huh?
don't go on colbert and wear your anti-whatever white t-shirts as some sort of statement and call it "punk" because if you truly are DIY this CBS video wouldn't exist. sincere apologies, love your sound/vibe but agreeing to this guest spot is a mistake... it's one or the other, boys. good luck.
Who called it punk? No one
Really? You're on their case because they wore white t-shirts? Give it a rest.
Sounds great! The vocals, guitar , bass and drums 💓 🪘 I have to check out their other music. Faint trace of Suicide Blonde in that performance.
Projector is their album. They’re amazing.
Thanks, Debbie, they have a great stage presence aa well, I know we'll be hearing more good music from them:)
Sadly a week from now the only people who’ll remember that performance are the band themselves.
You didn't have to hurt them that much
Why you hating bro?
Found another person who wouldn’t know some good new music if it slapped them in the face
Have you heard their other songs? You’ll appreciate them a lot more. They’re really a great band.
You haven’t heard their other songs.
They are really talented. The album would change your mind.
Goose > Geese
The band 'Goose' should file a lawsuit. They're older.
And why is that, pray tell?
No
Not bad, goose is better though
Yuck
Singer is awful
Ya need to get your ears checked mate ;)
Best. Intelligent. Commentary. Ever.
You deserve a cookie.
Are the guitarists aware they are in the same band? CRAP.
ratio
It’s amazing how stuck
how stuck
how stuck
how stuck
how stuck
some lower functioning minds get.
The naked city title “perfume of a critic’s burning flesh” sums it up entirely.
@@neguscat Give it up, they're not very good. What's really lame are your same cut and reply pastes to different comments. You're stuck, stuck, stuck... : )
@@troyclayton Apologies for the appropriate sentiment across the board, dude. A GROUP is not an Alan Holdsworth. It’s a group, period; a concrescence of a sonic personality. If you can’t see the forest for the trees, you don’t have to walk there,
It’s like the doors if they sucked
This is such a compliment
