Definitely some garage, noise, post-punk and prog vibes. Found this band some months ago and have listened to their debut very often, added it to my collection a couple of weeks ago. Kinda shocked to see how young they look but I guess that is probably more of a reflection on my age.
I’ve heard this song numerous times on WXPN radio & really enjoyed it. Seeing the musicians behind the music blew me away - somehow thought they’d be much older, jazzier etc. Awesome performance & love the white tee shirts. Rock on, Geese! P.S. I’m 67 ❤️
Saw Geese live last night in Pittsburgh opening for Jack White. Pretty impressive, especially when it was obvious they were so damn young. Immediately reminded of The Strokes and a young Julian Casablancas, a friend of Jack’s and The Strokes’ frontman. Can’t be a coincidence he chose them to open at three gigs.
Told my husband I saw a great new band on Colbert. He asked "what genre" and i answered "classic rock, kind of". Him: "that doesn't make sense". After 60 seconds: "oh, yeah, classic rock"
Pretty good band, haven't seen them before. Some of those vocal inflections are reminiscent of Jim Morrison. Overall tone of the song has a Doors feel to it. That sort of driving basic style was popular in grunge also.
Seriously, dudes, it's not hard. They're a post-punk band, a genre that started in late 1970s/early 1980s and had a big revival in the 2000s. They do not sound like the Doors, or ELP, or Men at Work (?), or the 1960s. Just google post-punk, read the Wikipedia, and work your way through those bands until you figure it out.
These are young musicians who are doing what they love. You have to respect that. I hear many influences; Television, Early Talking Heads and the great Patty Smith, to name a few. They have a New York sound and in time they will probably create their own version of it. The rhythm section is pretty good and stood out for me. I hope the band does well. Music is a tough business to be in but at least recording is easier today.
No they do not sound like Jimi Hendrix. Have any of you listened to any music after 1980? At least the sugarcubes is somewhat heading in the right direction
I was disappointed for the first minute or so, but the longer it played, the better it got. I find more and more that the music I end up liking best, I usually disliked at first. I like the barely controlled chaos. It sounds a mess at first, but my ears eventually start to pick out the patterns, and that makes it interesting. It's similar to what Julian Casablancas has been doing with the Voidz. (The barely controlled chaos, that is. This band sounds nothing like the Voidz.) I will be checking out their album (if I can find it.) I'm just sorry that so many people prefer what they already know, so the machinery keeps pumping out the same stuff, star after star. It makes it so much harder for bands like this to be heard.
Music's not bad, but I clicked on this expecting to see actual geese biting Republicans or something. Of course, I live in Canada where geese realistically would do that.
definitely true. they need to push their more ambient sounds and less so the strokes styles they've been using. Then again, we're the ones in the comments section and they're on stage.
Not punk in any sense of the word. However, they do have an early to mid-00's alternative music sound to them. Like they would be on the same ticket as Hot Hot Heat, White Rabbit, Spoon, Beirut and Cold War Kids. This is some serious hipster darling music. (Are Hipsters even around any more? Or did the Influencers make them go the way of the dodo?)
My mom made my turn the TV off when she heard this. She said this type of music should only be listened to while defecating. So I had to come here the next morning to RUclips to listen to the song. Sadly, after hearing it, I kind of agree with my mom. And, ironically, I now have to hit the bathroom, so maybe I’ll give it a second listen.
Talented people with a significantly broader sense of musical possibility don’t make comments like this. Kudos to your scatalogically challenged family.
“Much better” is an opinion (and you might know what opinions are like…). Goose seems to fly somewhere in between Phish and Spafford, but with seemingly nothing edgy or risky. Their art is definitely not punk; they’re a different subspecies.
don't go on colbert and wear your anti-whatever white t-shirts as some sort of statement and call it "punk" because if you truly are DIY this CBS video wouldn't exist. sincere apologies, love your sound/vibe but agreeing to this guest spot is a mistake... it's one or the other, boys. good luck.

You should check out the band Goose then. Oh wait a second....Damn it!
I went to middle school with the bassist. Absolutely insane to see Dominic on Colbert.
They are so good!
Just saw them last nite in Philly. Dominic is extremely talented. They all are!
I had a customer who is the lead singers uncle ask me to check it out so here I am. Keep up the good work and best wishes
I’m SUPER happy that you trusted my recommendation and enjoyed it!
Cheers!

This is so wholesome!

They just graduated high school last year and smartly decided to run with the album and performing. I'm so glad they did. Can't wait to see them live.
Their 2nd album 3D Country is great. Give it a listen if you can.
what an amazing singer !! range dynamics, charisma he has it all !
What a fantastic band! Very refreshing to hear, can’t wait to see more of them!
Good to see some rough and ready guitar rock on TV again
Hell yeah 🤘🏼

Love these guys so much. Projector was my 2021 album of the year. They're definitely going places. Heck, they're opening for Spoon this April.
Nice cross between 90s era grung and 60s era psychedelia. They'd be right at home here in the "Seattle" scene.
I was their 800th subscriber on RUclips. Fed an early adopter and I knew they were gonna blow up. Had their album on repeat for months.

Love this band too. Indeed, a “Low Era”.
Check them out. Album is Projector. I love this band. You’ll love it.
This band is bad. This is objective.
Very original sound; I do hear a tiny bit of The Doors vibe
A "tiny"?? I hear a LOT of Jim Morrison there
More than a "tiny" bit. Completely identical.

Interesting vocal exercises. Love it.
Colbert got them when they were young. They are ON THIER WAY. (Jim Morrison sits up in His grave and takes notice).

Agreed.
as well as Mark E Smith
The Doors also had a pretty big influence on The Strokes. I mean, just listen to anything from them when they started.
Excellent.
The 2008 indie sleaze is hitting back.
Love these guys. Very reminiscent of the Vancouver Indie-Punk scene in the 80s.
Next big band.
Sooo good! 🌼❤️
Hell yeah! They can play the Crown any day..

The lead singer's rant and musicality very reminiscent of Jim Morrison (Doors) even the shaggy hair.
The melody is nice
i was kinda hopin for ACTUAL geese.
Is it me or does this bands music, and a lot of Colberts guests, sound a little like the late ‘60s and early ‘70s era? I love it!

I was waiting for the "punk" part, and it didn't happen. This is rock music from the 1960s. They do it well, though.
There is actually a significant punk influence in this.
Listen to their other songs. Amazing.
It's totally more talking heads and post-punk, seriously you commentators are driving me crazy. They're not a 60s rock band whatsoever

My geezer review of Geese: wouldn’t choose to listen again but I enjoyed this performance.
I can see this band being a big outfit by the end of the year.
Check out their album Projector its awesome.
Cool name.
So refreshing to see a boys band that actually play in contrast to other BS bands that don't play any instrument
well, not all of them are boys tho lol
Getting a Television-via-Strokes vibe
Last I checked Geese don't use Doors
😄
Gonna have to eq the hell out this for repeated listenings.

In 20 years, if human beings are still even playing instruments, we're going to say that [new band in 2042] reminds us of Geese.
This kind of reminds me of a band if a castrated Eddie Vedder joined Spin Doctors.
Kind of like Jimi Hendrix meets Sugarcubes, I like it. Definitely room to grow, a little green. In a good way.

Queens of the Stone Age is WAY heavier and more metal than this.
