- The gate drops on the 2023 Supercross season in just two days, and we are just as excited to see how all of the players stack up against each other as everyone else. Having seen defending Supercross Champion Eli Tomac in action only a few days ago aboard his new 2023 Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha, we're especially excited to see how he does at the A1 season opener, where he has traditionally played it safe. ET3 looked crazy quick at the Hemet SX track...raw video can not lie. What do you think? Comment below!

That bike sounds insane
You can always tell when Eli kicks it in to Beast Mode, when the roost off his back wheel comes before the apex of the turn. He was in cruise mode here.
Was gonna say he looks around 80% except the whoops, the bike looks better, more stable there than the previous video
When Eli said that the bike is lighter,more maneuverable and jumps like a bicycle...that's scary stuff for the competition!! Looks like He has bike dialed!
The guy is at his absolute peak in his retirement year. Let that sink in. I hope he reconsiders and we get to see him for a full Sx, Mx, and SMX season.
Herlings has talked about maybe trying to come do a few seasons over here before he retires, would be a shame if tomac is gone and they can't battle it out for a title

@@nordica44 I expect to see him race in the fall. He doesn't have to race MX to qualify for the playoffs though. I believe he was in the top 10 in combined SX/MX points with just his SX results lol.
I like his mid air throttle rev acknowledging the pit board/trainers lol. dudes lookin real comfortable out there. gonna be a good season
tomac has such an incredible style. Hes just brute force. It was truly an honor to see him race at MXON this year. Especially to see him come around in the lead the first moto. Chilling experience

the new Yamaha looks small in the front which could play a huge role late in the races with stamina. Looking forward to seeing the guys race tomorrow

WOW!......I have to re-evaluate here. Eli looks faster, smoother and more confident on the new bike than last year. He looks so smooth, but he is crushing it with speed.
If he gets a 3rd sx title this year he deserves to be in the convo for being on the mt rushmore of riders.

He’s making it look effortless out there . I think everyone one else honestly should be worried. If this man is as relaxed and smooth as he is here , at A1 , he will be basically unbeatable. That’s the beast mode .

He is using lots less effort, is what I see. The bike looks lighter, more agile. Definitely going to be interesting if rest of teams didn't up their game, they are in big trouble. Honestly his team mates could be his only competition. #9 will be strong this year as well

And the fact that he’s riding better than he ever has, especially getting off that pig of a bike, the 2022, and now look how he is diving inside in the corners hard if he wants to and he’s a master at getting traction! I dunno this video has me a bit messed up! He’s just amazing to watch and i hope he takes up Jeffrey Herlings offer on the one on one race and smokes him! Get it Eli !
@@garyhatstat8449 Yamaha was the best move he made. I'm 57 years old. Although my first introduction to riding was the beast of all beasts the Honda 2 stroke cr500, I rode a Yamaha for over 25 years. I love it when the other riders say they can hear Eli coming up on them. I love his riding style. I think he can ride just about any bike. He is a GOAT in my eyes. He's gonna smoke me for sure. He's one of the greatest guys in the industry.

Have you ever seen him race in person? Sounds a lot different then he does on tv, the guy has the throttle pinned constantly

There aren’t too many people that can ride the pace needed to win for as long as he’s been doing it. One of the most professional racers ever .Obviously the record book speaks for itself. On another note ,I just came to the realization that I (we) are probably never going to get to see a full season with Tomac and Herlings battling. That’s a bummer. Maybe there’s a reason that never came to fruition.

Id like to hear what he has to say about the bike. But he is pretty reserved what he really thinks until the years almost over.

bike certainly looks alot stiffer this year. idk if that will gel with eli or not, it looked like he was running the suspension a little softer last year when he dominated. Check out how it looked in the whoops last year compared to this video, or how much compression he had with a g out or heavy seat bounce last season.
i agree that last season eli looked to be on a softer set up than normal, at least compared to others. Stiffer bike should hold up better in the whoops, i think the ones on that track are a poor example though.

KR looks faster on the Suzuki. Faster through the whoops, corners, and rhythm sections.
KR + Suzuki = WINNING!
Exactly u got that right sexton look fast too during his preparation for supercross to Anderson as well plus I’m not counting out Webb either
KR is always fastest for first quarter of the race. Its Tomacs endurance, strength and mid to end racecraft that gets the overall job done more frequently than KR.
