Thanks for watching and remember to comment below with your thoughts & feedback!
I’m WAY late to this video, but I also passed on Pamir 2ed the first time, so I guess that makes sense. For what it’s worth, nearly a year out from the release of this video, not only is this an awesome feature to help me pass the time now that I’ve pledged for the second print run, but it was an AMAZING way to pass the wee hours in the night holding my new son when momma was asleep and he was fussy unless somebody was cuddling him. So double-thanks guys (and yes, I fully realize that I’m most likely speaking into an empty, echoey chamber at this point, but the thanks remains).
Discovered Pax Pamir this year and after playing my first game with a player count of five, I totally fell in love with that game. So right now, this is my most favorite played game in 2023 and I some kind of study that game to get into all the depth of it. And there´s a lot of depth in it, even if it´s technically very simple.
So I appreciate that "over" explaining Edward mentions at 2:17:28 and love every second of this video. Thank you very much.
super stuff !!! Great to see a full 5-player game in action, with informative commentary and top notch production. Great job!
This stream probably showed everyone having more fun than I have seen in I think any other HC stream. That says a lot about the game to me.
Hard to believe that this is the only multiplayer playthrough on youtube! Such a good way to learn the game
Enjoying this a second time through post-Golden Elephant. So great that Cole was there for the playthrough
Having now played this a few times, there's something about it that really appeals!
I'm not good at it - and i like to think I'm really good at some games - and I have a (bad) habit of dislikling games I'm not good at, but there's still something about the interactive, ever-changing gameplay in this one that fascinates me.
Such a great, unique design & theme, and it's now one of my faves, thank you!
Coming back to this video after I first bought (and fell in love with) Pax Pamir 2nd Ed--my GOTY in 2019. I find Cole's narrative here so compelling. Still a 10/10 game for me.
Definitely the best explanation of how to play this game, although I guess it should be expected since the designer himself is explaining it
Finally!! Getting my copy of this game this week! I've watched this play through 4 times now, and I'm ready! Thanks for this!
Great playthrough! Can't wait to play my own copy this summer! :)
Really enjoyed the gameplay. I'm definitely ordering this game. It's so beautiful.
Really enjoyed watching this one, thanks guys! Great teach too.
Great playthrough! Appreciate the thoroughness. Can’t wait to try this one out.
Thank you! A bit chaotic when everyone is talking at the same time, but really useful.
Really appreciate this, guys - just got my reprint and this is a great way to get started with learning it.
I think a visual to make it easier to summarize influence state would be beneficial, but otherwise this looks like I won't be regretting the purchase.
Getting this to the table for 4 players next week, this was a great help to get my "first game nerves" out of the way. Smooth teach, and a nice mix of play and table banter. I'm optimistic this one will be in regular rotation, with Root and the COIN stuff. Cheers!
Getting to hear/read the insights & responses of Drew and Cole was fantastic!
First time on your turf, really enjoyed the crossover with Rahdo. Subscribed!
I am watching this to learn the game and get pumped for my 1st play next Wednesday. Thank you a lot HC for this great content
Bought this game recently, so big thanks for explaining the rules and showing a playthrough. Helps a lot.
Just got my second edition. Looking forward to my first play. Excellent production by the way.
Just bought this of an overwhelmed first owner... :) Super stoked to have and play this, thanks for the great explanation and having a virtual seat at your table :)
Just got the game and I am enamored. This video has been extremely helpful and fun!
Well that’s awesome to hear! Glad you’re enjoying the vid and the game!
This video made me want to try this game out, which I did just last night (solo)! I'm pretty new to heavier games, with my heaviest so far being base Root (just a 2-player game) and the first 2 tutorial scenarios of Jaws of the Lion. I wasn't sure if I could really tackle a game like Pamir, but Cole's design is so so smooth. I'm 1000% a fan now! (of him and this channel)
This made my day! Glad you enjoyed the game, it really is amazing! And thank you for the kind words, Chris!
nice video! I am now interested by this game.
Loved Cole's personality. What a cool stream! Game has a little too much AP for me, but its interesting and not hard to learn at all.
Pax Pamir is one of my all time favourite games but it can be very polarizing to a game group. We've had great difficulties getting this to the board since some players love it and some hate it, same happened with Sidereal Confluence. I'm very hopeful that the 2nd edition could remedy this.
I really think the mechanics of this game could be Dune themed... Wonderful game, can't wait to get my copy!
Awesome play-through, thoroughly enjoyable video! Great group dynamics though strange that Andrew is heard and not seen (most of the time)
@52:46 gameplay starts
great stream beautiful game thanks
I want more! There are like no gameplay videos for this game on youtube except for solo. And it is your 7th most viewed video ;)
Just purchased the game from Sierra Madre. Now I have to find 2 or 3 players who can get into these rules. I love the theme, and whilst there seems a fair amount of downtime, the player interaction in strategies seems very good.
Don't forget about the fantastic solo mode built in, with rules developed by RickyRoyal
Thx Ryan, looking forward to that too.
Great video !
Nice to see a group of friends playing.
I'm halfway through the game and I have to think about it: you ignored the actions in the boxes at the bottom of the card. Edward, for example, could have taken the Russian Patriots from the market for free.
Yesterday, I was just one action or coin or army/road close from winning the game with 5 pts on the very first dominance check....me being with the British while my two opponents both were with the Afghans.
After that close miss, it all break together and actually developped to a quite frustrating game....with be not being able to do ANYTHING.
Even a late game switch to Russian (potential to get 10pts and win on the last dominance check) was too late.
The whole game I wasn't able to buy a single non Afghan leader card....so I wasnt even able to build and being stuck with a 3 card tableau.
The theme and mechanisms are great and tense, but I'm not sure if I ever want to play a 3-player-match again seing the bad potential to have a 2 vs 1 the WHOLE game.
Maybe it was my fault (because of the starting cards all three of us chose Afghan as starting loyalty) to switch to British directly on turn one....(and my opponents told me that was quite courageous and brilliant)....but I didnt want a boring first game ever with all three players being loyal to the same faction.
Nice job! Any chance of a Pax Transhumanity play-through?
general question: I recently managed to get the 1st edition of Pax PAmir (without extension) and I was wondering: since there is few video on the 1st edition, can I use video like this one as a good guide?
3:18:15 why did Cole only take one action on his last turn? Why wouldn't he take his second action to use betray and kill off his own card that had Edwards cylinder on it?
He played 2 cards
Edward, was Cole playing yellow a condition of his presence? Threw me off!
Is this the final cardback or will there be any changes? I like it over the tts one I think.
So, Andrew bought the 4$ gift, to get one point of influence, and never touched the 2$ spot, right? It is equal to losing 2 coins under the table in my opinion.
Yes, I don't get why anyone would purchase the $4 or $6 gift before purchasing the $2 gift. Cole did it in his explanation and I don't understand why. Needs more explanation.
@@sthompson022 After year i came to conclusion: pseudo-bluff.
"Look, i paid for this, i dont want to lose it, i won't change aleggiance!"
@@Vsevolod924 I still don't understand why a player would purchase the $4 or $6 gift before purchasing the $2. Each is worth the same number of influence points, right? If I could pay $2 for a single influence point, why would I pay $4 or $6? That's the part I don't get.
@@sthompson022 aside from psycological pressure on opponents? It also may be a situation like: i want to buy both of them, i'll start with expensive one, while im rich. When i will be poor, i still may afford the second one
@@Vsevolod924 Ok, I guess that makes sense. Thanks for the responses! :-)
@2:06:49, for some reason it really bothers me that you discarded the card that allows you to purchase russian patriots for free just to then pay 2 for a patriot...
GOTY 2019.
Because yellow isn't pink. :D
at 1:52:44 Andrew must change loyalty lol
Anyone know where I can get the coins? Thx!
Steve Kingswell apparently they’re going to do a re-run of the coins at some point but if like me you can’t wait then architects of the west kingdom metal coins are the same size and weight
Darn! This is a fantastic game, the mechanics are awesome!
Unfortunately, I only play games with themes that I like, and Afghanistan is totally not what I like. The moment they reskin it into something else, however, I will consider it.
Great video as always, cheers!
Don't know the game so my perspective is purely as a newbie',but i think if the board was larger
it would make a difference(to me) but hey no disrespect to the designer.
Trying to "Kabul" together the modern Afghan state? Ha!
The first time watching Heavy Cardboard: Please do not speak at the same time. It makes it difficult to understand what anyone is saying and it always feels like I miss something. I found that really annoying.
I bet I could teach Pax Pamir in under 20 minutes.
Good on you
