I had one of the original K371s when they first came out. It didn't sound that great and the build was complete trash. One of the drivers actually just gave out on me, so I ended up returning them. I just got one of the newer models in today to give them another chance and both the sound and build are much improved. Would highly recommend now!
@@NotOrdinaryInGames 361 have a huge treble spike at round 8khz. it has to be lowered otherwise it drowns out the bass and mids. u can lower 8khz in the EQ by about 30% then they are good
I think this line is pretty underrated. I have the k371 and use them whenever I need a portable headphone. To me, they seem to have about the same amount of bass as the 6xx, just more extended. I still think they work fine as a reference, as they are fairly neutral, and an important thing in referencing is being familiar with your source’s sound signature, rather than simply flatness. Even if the bass is a bit boosted, it’s still clean enough to reference with, in my opinion.
Completely agree with you on the heavy bass in the K371, In my experience the K361 is a better sounding than the K371 :) Can't wait for your final review!!
Same driver as the K371 obviously a safe bet. I have the K371 and also the K612 Pro with Dekoni pads which boost the bass a ton. They sound very, very similar.
the lower to mid mid range sound like there's a "hole" in it, together with the even more boosted upper mids to lower treble, the k361's vocal sounds thin. That's the main reason why I sold mine
I agree with you. I tried the K361 as part of a big headphone demo before I settled on the DT990 pro and felt similarly about the sound just being weird. It sounded like it could just be a Chinese headphone. I've had fake Beats which sounded pretty similar to this.
Hope you feel better. It might be worth looking at a later build of the 371. I’ll grant you, it definitely has more bass than the Sundara and the Ether, but it has a lot less than the X2-HR, not saying much I suppose, and it’s much cleaner bass.
@@mikelisteral7863 the 371’s follow the harman target like a puppy. The problem with puppies is they occasionally pee on the floor. If AKG releases an updated version of this, with upper mids/lower treble dip fixed, it will be a perfect closed headphone.
