  • @metaspherz

    I've been using the AKG K361BT both wired and Bluetooth for a year and a half now and I am very pleased with my purchase. I mostly wear them for PC gaming and while watching youtube videos. For music production, mixing, and playing my keyboards I use Neumann's KDH20s (non-Bluetooth). I like the freedom of wireless and the AKG 361BT can travel about 60 feet away from my PC (Bluetooth 5.1) before the signal gets broken up and choppy. I use a pair of AKG N20NCs with my Galaxy Note 20 (which I got free with the purchase of a Galaxy Note 8 two and a half years ago), since they are smaller, fold well, and are travel friendly due to long battery life (about 18+ hrs). As BT goes the on-the-ear noise-cancelling AKG N20NCs have much better BT fidelity than the AKG K361BTs, IMHO. Windows doesn't support aac so that might be another reason why the difference. I cannot, however, stand to wear the on-the-ear AKG N20NCs for more than two hours without my outer ears (helix) hurting like they're being pinched. Repositioning the 'phones helps, but it's rather annoying still. I hardly know that the other over-the-ear headphones are on after hours of wearing them although they might become sweaty at times, especially the Naumann's. They are so comfortable I sometimes forget that they're on after the music has stopped playing. I have fallen asleep with the K361BTs on and hardly knew they were still on after waking up and walking around for a few minutes. 😎

      Will you recommend AKG K316BT to someone like me who is just starting to make covers and produce music? I'm looking for something versatile so I could easily use it for casual listening, piano and electric guitar practicing, monitoring, and mixing. And I work at outside a lot... so the bluetooth capability comes in handy... would you recommend it?

    • @metaspherz

      @@namede6210 Hi, Namede. I'm very sorry that I didn't see your AKG k361BT question a year ago. I would've said yes though. My opinion about BT isn't as harsh as the reviewer. I assume that he's had much more experience with a variety of expensive BT headphones, while I've only had the cheapest. The K361BT when wired worked very well when I broke the proprietary cable plug to my KDH20s. I played music and recorded using the K361BT's wired feature and then I listened to the music later wirelessly, I was impressed by the quality of both features, plus the 60 feet of BT broadcast distance. So, if you don't have deep pockets then I think the K361BT should be more than adequate.
      Again, I am sorry for not answering sooner! I hope that you are happy with your purchase, however!

    yes. I'm 100% agree with this review. I got a K371-BT for significantly cheaper than the K371, and the seller bundled it with some extra pads. BT performance is just... meh. Maybe for a quick run to the toilet, or some porn session, sure. but for actually enjoying music? nah. and this is where i got into a second problem. AKG, what the actual fuck is that connector? Mini 4 pin XLR? I want to get a custom cable for it but come the fuck on, it's hard to find one.

  • @mauslix65

    Am I the only one that does not dislike the bt functionality of the K361 BT? After all, you get a wired K361 with the added bonus (at a price, of course) of BT. Audio quality is different from wired use, but who cares when I'm in the underground or walking in the streets, use cases are so different! And, I must add, BT audio quality is very entertaining, I don't miss the wired sound at all and do not miss higher quality codecs like aptX, aptX HD, LDAC. Even the Sony WF-1000XM3 tws do not have those codecs and sound very good, so, in my opinion it's no problem at all. In my opinion the K361 BT are superb value for all that they offer.

    For me the BT would just be a bonus... I'd mostly use them wired (and hopefully the SQ is the same as the non-BT version). Then only use BT occasionally if doing stuff around the house or listening to podcasts. So who cares about 'audiophile' quality in those situations.. Why would any audiophile care about BT/wireless? They're obsessed with cables!!

    Great review. You have made me doubt though. I was about to buy the non bluetooth version of these ones. Could you recommend something for home recording, flat response, super comfortable and affordable ($100-150). I own the Sony mdr-7506 and they're just way too trebly. I am looking for something neutral sounding (maybe a bit mid-forwards) good for tracking my recordings (mainly electric guitars). Or could these AKG do the trick? Hope you can respond. Cheers!

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  3 года назад +6

      I haven't heard another AKG headphone in a long time, but I do remember disliking the K712--which is said to be a studio headphone...eh, I'm not convinced.
      As for alternatives, I think the K361 and 371 simply do not offer what you're looking for. Neither is neutral.
      Unfortunately, it's a little tough to find neutral/flat headphones in your price category. That's simply not the target market. But, there are a few headphones that can probably provide a neutral-ish sound signature for around $150:
      1. Monoprice HR5 and HR5C. Neither has received reviews, but I think both are clear and neutral-ish. They don't have harsh treble.
      2. Rane RH50. It has decent soundstage and slightly rolled off bass; mids are clear though there is a bit of sibilance. Treble is a bit forward, but not harsh.
      3. OneOdio Studio Headphones. These are cheap, flimsy, but very comfortable and fairly neutral.
      4. DT880 or DT770. Either can be found for within your price range. Make sure you look for 250 ohms or less. Avoid the 16 ohm version of the 770; the 32 ohm version of the 880 may be fine, but I think the sweet spot for the 880 is the 250 ohm variant. Neither is actually neutral, but close enough for your budget.
      If you can save a bit more and want true neutral, then the Ollo Audio headphones might be a great investment for you. Those and the Avantone Planar are the most neutral headphones I've heard, but they are both far outside your current budget.
      I think it makes sense to think about what you really want. If you want true neutral, then maybe you should buy something cheap now and save for either the Planar or one of the Ollo headphones. But, you may very well find a much cheaper headphone satisfactory for your needs.

      The K361 is a good headphone with a fairly balanced sound; it is a bit more detailed and neutral than the 371. I haven't used either of those amps, and I can't comment about their performance. The 361 is not neutral, despite what AKG claims. You may want to look into the Monoprice HR5 and HR5C, Rane RH50, and ATH-M40x.

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  3 года назад +1

      @@lycoris7890 No, it isn't true, particularly if they don't tell you why specifically they think one headphone is more neutral than another. Take a look at each headphone's FR graph. There are differences of course, but to say that the 361 is more neutral than the m40x is not accurate. More neutral in what sense--bass, mids, treble? Anybody who says that the 361 is just plain "more neutral" than the m40x needs to do a proper A/B test.
      I don't have the m40x so I can't say who's right or wrong, but I do have the 361 and have compared it to neutral headphones. The 361 is not neutral.
      You should get more details from the people who are telling you to buy the 361. Ask them whether they actually did A/B tests with the m40x using a passive switch and volume-matched; ask them what frequency range precisely they think the 361 is more neutral in; ask them which music tracks they used to test the headphones. This is the bare minimum information they should provide you. If they cannot, then their suggestion that the 361 is "more neutral" has no real basis.
