Thank you for watching. Candice is happy with the way it runs. We are still wanting to install a micro jackplate on it. Candice fished in it last weekend at lake Livingston and she looked nice in it fishing.
I put the Chris Carson reeds into my 1972 Johnson 65HP. It made a big difference in the idle, purrs along at 650RPM in gear without a stumble, and I gained about 1MPH on the top end with no prop change. For 50 bucks shipped, it was well worth the money for the idle improvement. I am curious why you re-jetted the idle circuit. Was it lean from the factory? Are you at high altitude?
That sounds great. The new reeds really improved our Yamaha in all areas. I really just changed the low end jets because they were difficult to try to clean previously, so I just replace them.
I'm about to pull my hair out with a 94 55hp 2 stroke 2 cylinder yamaha. I've cleaned carbs in ultra sonic cleaner, replaced ignition coils, battery starting cables, new factory spec plugs, new fuel pump and filter, new fuel tank and line, and set idle mixture screws to factory spec. Good compression. The motor will run great on plane, but I can't get it to idle properly to save my life. It does look like some fuel is blowing back through the carbs. This particular motor calls for an idle speed of 1100 rpms I believe. I can get it down to 1200 rpms without it shutting off but that's too high to shift gears. Does this sound like it could be bad reeds? Since I've eliminated most everything else?
@@user-fu7rk5fw2n The first thing I would change is the lower and upper crankshaft seals. This is an older motor sounds like and the seals are leaking by causing this issue. I’ve seen it many times before. Also, please checkout the reeds. One or more could be bent or even broken. Let me know.
@@mtwz71 Will do. New reed valves on order. And will install seals as suggested. Appreciate the feedback! And will report back once done. Thanks again.
@@markdimaio8396 I have no issues with these reeds. I have used them in many other motors and have always had good results. So yes, I’d say there very good quality.
@@mtwz71 good to hear I just ordered some for my 115 mercury hoping to see what all they can do btw what top speed yall end up seeing out of the majek?
Thanks for posting a video of it running and riding. I could hear it. What about a jack plate? 🤔

Oh ya those Chris Carson reeds are awesome. Like night and day.

What are the advantages of the Carson reeds over stock OEM Yamaha reeds?
@@markdimaio8396 The idle is much smoother and mid to top end power is increased.
@@mtwz71 are they as durable as oem? Reason why I ask is bc it looks like I am replacing reeds in my 90 Yamaha

@trent’s shop works long time no talk did the reeds increase your rpm?
@@TheHaggertonFamily Honestly, they did some. The overall power from slow to full throttle is improved. It’s a small change but well worth it.
