My pair of zebra finches have just started using nest basket. Am well happy. Also got two male java sparrows in separate cage. I blow the chaff off the seeds and top up rather than waste good seed. My top tip! Thanks for this vid. Always good to get new ideas.
I have two munia finches and just discovered a way to avoid throwing uneaten seeds on the small platters, I have a garden so I take the platters out of the cage and blow into them very softly so the shells fly away and voila! haven't wasted any birdseed since!.

Great video! One thing I would like to say is I had a problem with my zebra finches plucking the feathers off the canaries and quail in my aviary... to make their nests... even though they had nesting material... so people be careful if they have zebra finches.

I believe all birds should be able to fly, don't get birds if ur just gonna keep them in the cage 24/7. Let them out for some free time to fly around at least for a few hours a day. My budgies have their own room and their cage stays open 24/7 so they can fly around as they please.

great video. I like the orange head canary . where does one get these travel cage? my bird is finishing up with his molting . I got him purchased from a breader & got breeder cage 22 in long if want has a divider I don't use that my bird after molt last 9/20 7 am started singing and sings all day every day all the year till gets hot and sunrise changes. I got him 8 months old and the cage from breeder $30 for canary & $20 for cage great deal. can u tell me were by the seed feeder?. I like it idea. so true feeder cup much seed gets wasted so I pour it out in plastic tray him to eat what wants. he likes apple wedges. and love carrot shavings. I have “pet” cardinals. It’s a male and female mating pair that lives in the bushes by my house who I put out seeds for in a bird feeder. They’ve gotten really use to me and the male now and then will fly down and sit near me, but not be petted.

+Sanuja Pangat Canaries can be fed dried meal worms and given a cuddle bone. But not all will use it. Mine have no interest in either one. They will eat hard boiled eggs and their canary supplements that have calcium (the bag I showed) so I don't have to provide the insects and cuddle bone. You just have to find out what yours like.
my birthday is in ten days, I have been researching finches since December and I've made space on my dresser for a large cage and my parents will only get me animals if it's a special occasion and I can prove that I will care for the animal and love him/her. I’m leaning towards a clear yellow Fife male, but wondered if you could do a video on the different varieties of canaries? Also, from what I have read, two male canaries cannot be kept together, and a male and female kept together will breed, of course. I’m not looking to breed, so I don’t see how I can keep more than one. Any advice there? Thanks!

Hey, I have a male canary for a year now. I got him when he was still very young but he doesn't like leaving his cage. I personally don't like cages and only had them for when they wanted to sleep or eat. Is there a way to get your canary to trust and not be afraid? I've done anything I can. I've sat next him everyday so he gets use to me, never try to put my hand and but I do take him out so he can fly freely through the house. Instead he just goes back into the cage... He just loves eating lettuce and swinging all day

We got a canary yesterday and yesterday he was alright, eating and chirping, but today I haven’t seen him eat much and he’s not drinking. He sometimes picks at his foot and hits his peak on the bar he’s standing on. I’m not sure if this is ok or not.

hey. I have a question. kind of a long story. here it is. I work at a pet store and we have a pair of finches that have been in our back room for over a year. one of them is EXTREAMLY anxious. she's plucks out her fetters all the time. it gets pretty loud back there wich makes it worse. she also gets especially bad when she's away from her partner who she has bonded to. they have been there for over a year, she's getting worse, I would love to take her home and give her a nice quiet forever home. only problom, I have a skin condition that makes me react to everything, including fetters. I'm usauly not bad unless I'm handling or touching fehters. already have an air purifier. do you have any suggestions on how to keep the cage nice and clean so I don't react? sorry for any typos, auto correct and dyslexia do not go well together
Marcie Cooper canaries are very different from hook-billed species of birds. Technically, you CAN hand train a canary, but it's pretty difficult and they really prefer to not be handled.

I tried that for a while with my canary feed bowls but just ended up with Seed kernels up my nose haha

Let your canary listen to canary songs on youtube it will mimic them and will sing itself
ilias laachir It depends on the type of canary . The best singing canary is an yellow malinoa canary and the colourful canaries are not good singers

I have 3 canaries. They like to fly around my room and sing beautifully. I think i got very lucky since I got the 3 canaries and a cage all for 50€.

That's a bad idea, makes your bird cage heavy for no reason and would be very hard to clean.
