Unfortunately it also uses the bugged soundtrack - high pitched string notes starting around 2:00 are a bug, and they were supposed to be low pitched bass notes.
Models needed more space of MBs. It's saving disc space to create one model and three textures car skins.. you have 3 unique cars from three skins and just only one model. Same with sounds. You have ONE car alarm sound file and you can edit in each "car file" diffrent audio pitches... So you have like over 5 car alarms with only one audio file. The Compact Disc (CD) 3D Gaming era was very limited.
Honestly, it was still a net improvement over the PS version which only had 2 kinds of traffic car per city. Some corner cutting was necessary to have the variety of traffic that was present in the PC version.
i'm affraid it's the contrary, quite a few of theme have more polygones then the ps1 version, wich explains the diffrence. the ps1 had less resources and displayed the texture more crisply then on pc, so i would expect the perception of more details there. ! with that said, i do have a softer spot to the ps1 modles, epsecially the miamy car :3
The front and back textures have a higher resolution than PCs. For some reason they thought it was a good idea to waste space by having the left and right side textured separately instead of just mirroring it. If they hadn’t the other textures could have had a higher resolution.
if you focus on the top back of the roofs, you can see how harsh the middle point in the ps1 cars, most likely it's a 3 polygon roofline compared to 4 polygon lines on pc, since the line is smoother
The Undercover Mode in the PC Version gives you some calls where you can choose extra cars for the next mission like Mission Car 5, 8, 9, 11 (SF only). If you beat the game once, you can select cars before Free Ride. However, it was planed in the PS1 too but the time didn't allowed it for the PS1 Version. The PS1 Version still has Mission Car 5, 8 & 9 (you use it for your video) in the PS1 but unused and unplayable in normal gameplay. Even the garage (model, textures) where you can select the mission cars is in the files but the cam for selecting is buggy. It was all planed for PS1 but the Release Date was too close. All lost features were added in the PC Version with some very good fixes & extra graphic effects but sadly even few bad effects or decision came in the PC Version.

Something I never understood was why does Tanner drive that blue Nova in NYC's undercover missions, but in Take A Ride, he drives that red Buick instead? I always loved that Nova and I hated that it was unavailable once the game was beaten... Well, on the PlayStation version, that is.
I actually have a theory on that but Idk if its true or no but anyway the reason why is because ALL the cars Tanner does drive in the game are NOT his personal car its a car given to him by the gang the only car he only owns (his personal) are the dodge magnum in the PS1 version and the Regal in the PC version the other cars are just from the gangs thats why you always drive different cars in each city (changes every mission as well) also Everytime your car changes its probably the last one got destroyed in a scrapyard so the cops won't indetify the gang thats why also the gang care about the car's condition in the tutorial mission
one moment, the cars from missions 5, 8 and 9 are available in which mission on the PS1, just to know why I beat it so many times, maybe it's the game I've finish so much and I don't remember seeing these cars
I never see them when i did the story again. Had to use gameshark codes. They might be in alternative missions but i'm not sure. If someone know exactly in which mission they appear i'll take it !
Just a question... Recently I got into Driver again, and I found out about Redriver 2 and finished today, and now I'm trying to find a Redriver 1, is there such thing? I really like Driver 1 and would love to play in 4k with 60fps just like Redriver 2, but I can't find anything about it...
But can I play the missions? I really like Driver Syndicate, but it isn't complete yet if I'm not mistaken right? And can't wait to be, lot of potential there
@@louisslyfox1775 From what i know, you can only do the Miami missions as the others cities don't exist (for now) apart from a piece of the San Francisco map.
I think why is there buick and no chevrolet in pc version is likely due to copyright. So the reason why the first car that you drive was replaced with buick was because of chevroley dont want their car to be in the game without license. Though i am not sure.
You can manually select them in specific missions before accepting the mission. In the PC version, you can choose those cars in take a ride, when you completed the game.
