I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate that you pronounce Fresnel properly. Thank you, sir. Your videos have been incredibly useful for me!
Hi Markus, I received it today. Ditto everything you said about it. I use it on my Godox V1 flashes. ISO 200. f8. About 8 meters. 1/2 power. Perfect exposure. I measured the jump in power as one full stop.
@@MarkusPix glad you answered this question, because this was my plan to use it to prevent using HSS, the clic frenel with one layer of diffusion on the softbox on a sunny 3pm day, thank you from saving me from spending $100

Hey Marcus Pix! Do a demo of this light and fresnel and zoom the light head inside the flash. Go through the ranges and show pattern from 28 mm to 85mm. Thanks!

awesome, thank you for the video! Is there any chance that zooming in/out the ad100 the light pattern changes for the better without affecting much the power? I fear it's best designed to look better on the profoto unit
If that fits the V1, wouldn't it fit Ad200 with Round head and what would that do to its power?. I'm assuming increase tremendously! With the Godox S-R1 adapter for V860 Fresnel speedlights it would also fit, furthering possibly the Fresnel lineup. There's a topic for another video Marcus. Try it on other speedlights.
The AD200 roundhead is actually not as bright as the AD100, i was surprised to find that out in my testing, so i gave away the roundhead in a recent giveaway.
@@MarkusPix no worries, I'll get my hands on one of these Fresnels and test it on the Round heads and other Fresnel lights using the Round head adapter. Thanks for your efforts 👌
@@BrandonLuckain Valid point. I'm just curious if adding this Fresnel would increase out put, due to its dynamics. Considering it does quite a good job on Ad100. I'm even more curious if it would have any effect on a regular speedlight, using a round head adapter, or actually just diminish the output altogether on these.
And AD200 round heads! In case it hasn’t already been mentioned. Also, the last time you said “power” the *brightness correction text didn’t pop up, so I was confused. Haha, you’re still da man (if I can still say that nowadays).
I bought one, it's absolutely worthless for the AD100. I metered it at 8.7 bare, then I got 11.8 with the fresnel. Sounds good, ***BUT*** that that was at 28mm zoom. If I zoom the AD100 to 85mm, I get 11.8 without the fresnel, and the meter reading DID NOT CHANGE when I put the fresnel on the flash. Don't waste your money on this! You get the same output just by zooming the flash head.
Thank you for this report. From another YTer, the fresnel actually decreased the Profoto A10 output slightly at the narrower zoom setting. I believe the best bet is the Clic Magnum. It was tested to increase the output by 1.5-stop on the AD100 at 35-85mm setting and about 1.2-stop at 28mm.
Plus, at 100 ISO, 1.4 1/250th and a flash ten feet away, there is no way in hell you’re going to expose the subject properly while also having the sky blue UNLESS it’s a hour before sunset. I have to have an AD320 basically on top of my subject and my f stop is still going to be f8 or f11 to get the blue sky. To get to 1.4 I’ll need a six stop gradient lens filter.
Thanks for sharing Markus. This is good news for us all. I have been using my ad100pro or ad200pro with the aputure fresnel 2x all mounted on the S2 bracket. Its bulky but its power is amazing at long distance and closer its shadow is nice due to 6inch glass. This rectangle with fall off is what I was getting too when on full spot. At least I can rotate the flash if I want a vertical rectangle but still with nice fall off. I diffused the flash before it enter the fresnel, and it made the rectangle less noticable but its there. This profoto clic is so much more compact, compares well to the magmod fresnel but is so tiny. I was hoping someone would make it. Now perhaps a cheaper version, hmm. Is this plastic?
Yeah the 2x Aputure Fresnel is awesome, I have like eight of them but they're so darn big and clunky they're really only good for studio stuff, although I did take one to Hawaii once to do a vlog and it was so awkward and embarassing. The only downside to having a small fresnel is the surface area... a big fresnel creates nice even light when lighting a face
@MarkusPix I shoot real estate, corporate and family portraits, in studio and more so on site, conferences, night events, and commercial campaigns. I found the controlled spot and the soft edge hard shadow comparable to daylight very useful, even though I have some small and huge soft modifiers, but I know the drudgery of halling too much gear on site and lightweight is a dream. But for shadow quality, the Godox FLS8 or FLS10 have been considered but the weight... no way. So again, except for the shadows this tiny fresnel is great. I am also really loving my ad100pro. Enjoy playing with all of them. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Marcus, with the shot showing the light pattern with the fresnel on could you rotate it go to where the oval shape is going up and down instead of horizontal? That way it would give off light shaped like a strip box. Im just curious
No. It actually magnifying the actual shape of the flash. If you removed the factory diffusion plastic off the AD100 , its a rectangle underneath. BUT you CAN turn the flash sideways so its vertical!
As always, another great video! Thank, also use 3 for of these AD100 pros. What is the model number for this Fresnel? Im from the UK, I’d id love to to purchase this attachment. Thank you.

Interesting and it's the reason the AD200 fesnel has such a good output. Did the 'Profoto Clic Magnum' (perhaps similar to MagBeam?) which claims up to 1.8 f stop not interest you? Doesn't look like it made for stacking but perhaps another Markus hack could be on the way to see what Magnum + Fresnel will give us 🤔
Hmmm, what about this on a Ad200 with the round head attachment? 🤔 ... although probably not really all that useful (may as well use the fresnel attachment instead) unless adding a gel into the mix.
Yes an AD100 with fresnel has the same output as the AD200 with a 4.5" reflector with diffusion on it. Depends on the modifier.
