    I was foolish enough to buy a full bottle of this. Decent whisky. Awful value for the price. Another great vid. 🥃

      Thanks Geoff. Yes, decent but awful value. We obviously both love Bunnahabhain but this is not the best they can do. Will you be reviewing any Feis bottles?

      @@WhiskyLock This is the only one I've been able to snag. Feis bottles are like unicorns in Taiwan. Unfortunately I just don't have access to them. Cheers.

    Warning heeded. Thanks for the review. Likely saved me the same experience and being less $150 CAD in my wallet. Cheers 🥃

    Hey buddy, I left a really good comment about this and it's been taken down. I know it's not you but I thought I'd let you know. It's happened to me quite a lot of times when I've been critical of the whisky industry. Not merely critical though, It's when I say something that cuts to the chase. It mostly happens when I talk about sherry and whisky. I'm not a conspiracy fruitcake but my comments, and I think I'm reasonable, have, on a number of occasions been removed from whisky sights. Thought you should know. and it's never by the creators.
    I can't be arsed going through it again but the general gist is I agree with you about this whisky and that Bunnahabhain are ripping us off. There, I said it. Very good review. WY

      Hi WT. Very strange but you're not the first person to have comments disappear for no reason. It's very odd as sometimes comments that are pure spam will get through fine and I have to manually delete them. RUclips's spambot AI certainly seems to work in mysterious ways. Maybe it's getting backhanders from Distell 😉 Thanks for letting me know 👍🥃

    This just unexpectedly showed up near me (Canada). We don't normally get Feis releases from Bunnahabhain so this would have been an impulse buy for me had it not been for your review.
    So thank you for the honest review and saving me $195 (£127) when I've already got the 12yr on the shelf!
    Cheers Mr. Lock.

      Glad I could help! Everyone likes a limited release but there are lots of bottles more deserving of your money. Cheers 🥃

    I wanted to try myself Bunna bottle.. I haven't bought one before I watched some reviews of the 18 year bottle but here it's sold for 145£ ~ so I didn't buy that one I went with the 53£~ 12yo bottle. Excited to try that one let's see how it goes this weekend. Maybe it's a good thing my country doesn't have all these special editions for sale as well they would cost waaay more of course I could buy the bottles from bunna website directly then I'd need to pay import taxes etc so even more cost :D

      @WhiskyLock  2 года назад +1

      Import taxes can be a real pain! I think you made the right decision with the 12yo. The 18yo is great but the 12yo is too and will give you a good idea if the 18yo is something you might want in future. Enjoy!

    On the other hand, the Kilchoman mescal was really interesting and imo was worth every penny

      @WhiskyLock  2 года назад

      Yes I really loved that one too. Mezcal casks seem to have huge potential for whisky.

    Wiskey geeks a few years back cheering the increased interest in wiskey. Wiskey geeks now realising that prices are going up and great wiskey is becoming rate and very expensive

      Very true. Perhaps now is the point where increasing price and decreasing availability is starting to cancel out a lot of the benefits?

    Dam…this review didn’t go the direction I presupposed. I discovered Islay over 10 years ago, but I’ve only first tried Bunna the last two years. The classic 12 has been sold out locally for 9 months or so. That hasn’t stopped me I as I currently have a 13yr Signatory 57.7 abv, the 11 yr Manzanilla “limited release” 52.3abv, and another “Indy” bottle that is a 29yr at 59.8 abv(refill hogshead, and a wonderful straw color) Without having tried any….I can have conviction in my purchase because all the boxes are checked for being a craft presentation. Im glad I watched the entire video before responding because I heard the “dig” at Ardbeg. I feel that they are to blame for the inflated prices on Islay….particularly when it comes to N.A.S. I know of a distributor that has amazing prices for standard bottlings and even special releases, but the damn “committee releases” are always 400$ now from the jump. So now people see the “festival” on the bottle and fear of missing out kicks in and out comes the wallets. 300$ for an Ardbeg 19 yr old!?….That’s 5 bottles of 10yr old at current prices and a year ago it was 6!!! My only defense is not help create the demand. Independent bottling’s are growing more attractive everyday and they get over looked in the shops which is fine by me. Hope your next pour makes up for the dissatisfaction. Cheers

      Sounds like you're very well stocked with Bunnahabhain. Their older and Cask Strength stuff can really shine and isn't too expensive (yet!). I think you're right about Ardbeg having a lot to do with Islay-mania. Such popularity can be a double edged sword both for the consumer and sometimes the producers. Fingers crossed that the next Bunna Feis will be better. At least it's older 🙂 Cheers!

      Sorry to hear that! And there was me thinking a weak pound would give non Brits a good deal... or is everything just an excuse to raise prices at this point? 🤔

      Sorry to hear that Duncs. I think it's good whisky but you're right to expect more from a Feis bottle. IMHO it's a bit naughty of Bunna to put a £90 price tag on this.
