Both my knees play up due to lots of sport in the past and of course, advancing age! The third exercise proved to be good cardio too as well as helping flexibility in my dodgy knees. Thanks guys- subscribed.
Nice to see something unique. At 51, I suffer from constant knee stiffness from decades of bump skiing and running + post surgical meniscus repairs so I’m putting this into action to see if it makes a difference
Christopher Evangelista Im glad you find the exercises interesting. I hope youll find that gentle daily practice of these should help with your pain! Blessings and good luck on your training!
And be REALLY careful on the pivot one; can really aggravate meniscus problems or areas where the meniscus is gone. I have some karate shoes that allow low friction pivoting, would not do it on grass unless it's very slick.
Sir here is some videos that helped me after i got hit off my motorcycle and fractured my (femur/tibia/fibula) and had 2 rods one through the knee into the tibia and one through the hip into the femur with 10 screws. That gave me a lot of knee problems, but here is a actual link that will help your knees. It helped me. ruclips.net/video/KFoOm9I47kU/видео.html
Love it, its really gonna smooth out the rough edges on my horse stance as well. Opening the hips, allowing for greater flexion in the power generating muscles. Solid stuff. I would enjoy seeing more Systema drills like this. Really natural and effective drills. Thanks
Thanks so much for the excellent range of exercises you teach. Much appreciated by this 58 year old who wants to get (and stay) fit into my older years.
Hey TappBrothers! This is my first comment for you guys but the umpteenth video of yours I've watched over the past year or so. I really appreciate what you guys do. This recent series is especially nice, I want to learn the dynamic moves but my physical prowess has regressed. I've got to reconstruct and these recent vids are really beneficial for me. Namaste Brothers.
Very nice leg work to help with knee and hips pain. We actually do this exercise in our aqua arobec class and we all love it and find it very relaxing, but I didn't know what it was called. Thanks for putting new page in my knowledge. Much appreciated and love to you guys for sharing.
I did some leg workouts last night after work to keep up strength during the winter here in new york and just going out late now for a short session since it rained and the snow melted plus its pretty warm i can feel the difference in my strides/precisions and small drops. My muscles feel like they're cushioning every impact so its been paying off so far the shins and calf workouts, also wall sits because i dont have weights for squats. These should help open up more flexiblity in my hip flexors thanks!
I just found your channel and I did 4 of your mobility/ stretch videos in a row. I plan on incorporating them into my daily routine before or after (or both) my workouts. Love them! Thanks!
Hey TappBrothers, I just found you and love what I've seen (2nd video watched). At 56 I love this video. I've begun having some hip issues and find this video to be great. I know these exercises will help me a lot.
Thank you so much. Really needed to work on balance. As I go to the 60s that's getting important. Find these inspiring. Dont you bother with comments about your icy or whatever looks. U came on the video to teach , not wear ur heart on ur sleeves.
Perfect timing. I bashed my knee into a wall mat doing Ninja Warrior Gymnastics (Parkour in a gymnastics gym) before Christmas and have been in healing mode since. I still do my training but on 1 leg. Taking NEM for rebuilding the tissue and cartilage. These are exercises I can add to my rehab routine. Thanks alot.
cool! these are very similar to ballet exercises... the differences are the rotation of the legs from the hips, the locking of the supporting leg and the full extension of both legs (these are necessary specially for rotations on the air or on the ground) and the locking of the upper body in relation to the legs (i just mean that any movement from the upper body ist not caused by the ones form the legs)... well we call them: 1. grand battement en cloche 2. we do this just in the warm-up but no specific name (exactly that way) 3. fouettee 4. rond de jambe en lair =)
Yes thomas bring Matt back for future exorsizes. Matt what training did you have to endure to reach that level of balance and precision that bo staff your feet well whole body actually is immensely impressive. Trying to wrap my mind around how you did that. Would you be willing to create a step by step tutorial for that?
Thanks, glad you liked it! The stick I used for that drill is shorter than a bo but one which isn't too big could work as long as it doesn't hit the ground when you're trying to turn. It's one of several movement drills we do with that type of stick in Systema so maybe I could make a tutorial. Thanks for the suggestion!
Matt Mitchell thank you for the additional information and reply I appreciate it. Feeling enlightened and curious about systema. Looking forward seeing you and the the tapp brothers working together in future.
Hey Tapp bros here, thanks for watching! Big shout out to Instructor Matt for sharing the training tips on the channel. Make sure to check out his Academy FB page and give him a follow here: bit.ly/2F3A7by You can pick up your free 5 Minute Flexibility Routine here: bit.ly/Flexibility-Session Like and subscribe if you enjoyed this video!
Hi TappBrothers this video helped me alot and it made my knees more injury prone when i do parkour because before i used to hurt my knees alot during parkour
I like how simple and low impact these exercises are - working balance/stability on the standing leg and movement and flexibility on the moving leg. T-bros already have a great standing dynamic warmup that takes, what, 10 minutes? Add these knee exercises and you've got a quick no-sweat routine that will enhance your life at any age.
This is great !! I wanted you to do a video where in the person is having knee ligament damage... I have it in my right knee.. I try running but this problem hinder my fitness..is there any exercise to take care of the same. Great work and posts from your side..All the best ..
Daphne Jiyu , thank you! It's bit weird at first but I'm sure you will get the hang of it! You can place your hand on a wall to help catch your balance each time you turn until you get the hang of it!
Great video, guys! I am a fan of yours and also happen to be a Systema instructor, here in France. So I was very pleased to see this convergence of two worlds for me. Keep up the good work...
this is exactly what the last step to fixin my knee... i busted it in a 360 spin tearing itup maximum... and never went to hospital (off road razor scotter injury at 50mph+) this is wat i needed to finihs my self healin... im at last stage i can jog now kick like lightnign again with knee.. but this is whati i needed.. some physics.. practical application.. with these exercises i can kick infinitenly now as i seen the potential instnatly @_@ omg we are talkin goku ultra insticts level with some of these systema exercies im lookin at on my potential already as "rank 1" according to Stan Witz of las vegas "the best i ever seen ever hands down and i knew bruce lee and norris owns half my studio"
This won't help much. (I had a rod placed through my knee into the tibia and the the hip into the femur.) the thing that is awesome for bad knee's are Therabands, Start doing squats/one legged knee ups, Do single leg raises. In order to strenghen the knee's you would need at least resistance or weight in order to work the ligaments and muscles surround the knee.
My guess is the knee pain is on the right knee... which you can see from his right foot, is always rotating out... if the foot is always out on every exercise and not pointing in the same direction of the knee that by it's own can give you knee pain! :) Nice exercises though, they gave some ideas! ;)
Yes, more tutorials from Matt please. Excellent exercises. Great way to warm up too.
Michael Greenwood Why do I see you everywhere??! 😐
The guy knows systema, and has that icy, slavic look. Was I the only one who was surprised he had no accent?
Kolam
Looks like Putin's younger brother.
Yes

Yes, more from Matt and Systema please, Really useful...... Thanks to all.

Let us know if it helps. Lots of us, at similar age, are facing the same thing.
And be REALLY careful on the pivot one; can really aggravate meniscus problems or areas where the meniscus is gone. I have some karate shoes that allow low friction pivoting, would not do it on grass unless it's very slick.
Thomasuki267 - agreed - I’d be sure to be on a relatively smooth surface

Just an update, my knee fully healed a few weeks after this video.
Michael Barry good to hear it's healed! what is NEM?
enigmapublius1 Natural Eggshell Membrane. 500mg capsules from Natural Factors for Joint Discomfort. I also took Inflamexx from Bell by Dr. C Hammoud.
yes it was clearly the leprechaun dances that healed you
I keep reading over everything and don't see anything about leprechauns. They were never mentioned once. Same with dances. Nope. Wrong thread.

Interesting new thing to learn

What are your thoughts on leg weights?
i'm going to try that dive roll.
Hey are you still alive?
My guess is the knee pain is on the right knee... which you can see from his right foot, is always rotating out... if the foot is always out on every exercise and not pointing in the same direction of the knee that by it's own can give you knee pain!
