BUT at some point you don't need these speeds for your personal use, you won't notice the difference after a few hundred mbps, the only thing that makes a difference then is the ping
Unifi is decent for home installs, for more enterprise focused gear you want to be looking at Ruckus or Huawei. To take things to the next level you should really be using planning hardware and software (such as Ekahau) to survey, plan and then QA the installations. Good results on this job though, things get trickier when you have neighbours' WiFi affecting you! I'd also recommend that if there is cabling for the TVs/consoles/etc. that really should be used instead of WiFI - there is finite airtime available - no amount of hardware will overcome physics!
The routers serve at their best ceiling mounted, and i personal switch off the annoying blue light for most people and a small sticky cable strip would look so much cleaner ;-)
It really just comes down to what you pay for since your ISP limits how fast your internet is. Just pay for gigabit internet if you’re gonna go that far with equipment.

@OUTRAGEOUZ Not if you are stood right by it, but to get the full benefit from these devices they should really be mounted on the ceiling for optimum coverage, but I also understand people don't want that so would rather hide them in a cupboard. But then why not mount it horizontally in the cupboard? It's also what Ubiquiti recommend, unless you are using one of their rubber duck AP's which are designed to be mounted on the wall
