  • If you have a metal building, shop, garage, or shed this will make installing a ceiling a breeze. Homemade tool I came up with that makes it a one man job.

    I just finished a 30x40x14’ high ceiling by myself with 12’ panels. I built and used two of these on a basket lift with a deadman pole in the basket also. I could not have done this job by myself without these hangers. Thanks for your idea, it works great.

      Thanks, hope it works for you. I'm sure you can improve on the concept, it was just a quick and dirty of way getting it done for me.

    Just wanted to thank you for putting this video out there. I have 40x30 pole barn with 12’ ceilings and had no idea how I was going to hang the steel. Worked absolutely perfect. I do everything by myself too and this was a life saver!

    Necessity is the mother of Invention add a little Arkansas ingenuity and Walla!
    I 1500% agree with the metal ceiling choice. Looks great, easy to install, already painted.
    Thanks for sharing and God Bless.

    The greatest inventions come from necessity. This is a great idea. I guarantee you metal supply shops would sell something like this like hot cakes. I'm putting up j channel right now on my 40 x 30 twelve foot high ceiling... I'm so glad I came across this video. I do everything myself, so I've been wondering how I was gonna hang the metal. I will definately be rigging up something like this. Thanks for sharing brotha

      Hope it helps. I've been using it on my ceiling and it works great up until the last row. On the last row, I just make a couple shelf bracket looking things and screwed them directly to the wall.

    I've always liked the idea of an open roof. Did you install the panels because of your welding/sparks etc?

    • @SelfMadeProject
      @SelfMadeProject  5 лет назад

      No, I wanted a ceiling so I can insulate the shop. In the summer it will get over 100 degrees inside, and in the winter below freezing. I'll eventually get a wood stove, maybe even full hvac, but in the meantime an insulated shop evens out the temp a lot. I also think the white ceiling really brightens up the shop, reflects a lot more light from the shop lights.

    This is a great idea!!!
    Loved the intro - FULL AUTO SCREW GUN!
    I'm building my barn next month and I will DEFINITELY try this idea on my 12' ceilings!
    THANK YOU for this idea!
    I have to ask, was the first sheet you put up on the brackets upside-down?

    • @SelfMadeProject
      @SelfMadeProject  7 лет назад +1

      Ha! You weren't supposed to notice that! Yeah, upside down, I was just trying to demo the idea and didn't realize it til the edit. It's working great for me, I'm only about half done. Don't be surprised if you have to flip the bracket, depending on were you start, you might need a lefty or a righty.

      @@SelfMadeProject Well, today I'll be driving the last few screws in my pole barn steel ceiling. As I mentioned in a comment on your other video, I chose steel over drywall based on your videos and I cannot thank you enough for the information. I made two of these ingenious devices when I started my ceiling and let me tell you it was a game changer! So simple but effective! Sadly, my helper didn't hang around very long and even with your brace device, hanging the 16' panels just wasn't possible for one guy. At least not THIS guy anyway. Sad to say, I'm not half the man I was 10 years ago. Everything is slower and more difficult - lol. So I had to 8I+c# out and buy one of those harbor freight panel lifts. As you mentioned, it was about 8" short for my 12' ceilings so I took a page from your book and "improvised"! I built a basic 10" extension "deck" to give me the needed height and length to support the long panels. With that lift I was able to do the entire ceiling by myself - except for needing the wife to come out and help me lift a panel onto the panel lift every time I finished a panel - lol.
      So I say all that to say THANK YOU for your videos and for sharing your knowledge and creativity. Not to mention thanks for the laughs - I get a grin every single time I watch this video with the full auto screw gun. The shot were the screws are falling like brass casings gets me every time brother - every time.
      Be well.
      TJ

    Genius, thanks for sharing. Have you had any condensation issues?

    • @SelfMadeProject
      @SelfMadeProject  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks for checking it out. No, no condensation here, but I have that bubble wrap looking foil insulation under all the exterior metal siding. I think that makes a huge difference.

    Any ideas on how to make sure the liner panel is squared up with the room (ceiling) so it stays running nice and parallel throughout the ceiling panel install? (3-4-5 and a string line?) Or what did you do?

    • @SelfMadeProject
      @SelfMadeProject  4 года назад +1

      I just tried to be consistent on aligning the panels as I went. When I got within a few feet from the opposite wall I started measuring. I was getting off by about an inch on some of the rows. So, on the last 2 or 3 panels, I fudged them out a 1/4" -1/2" each. You can't see it from the ground. I guess you could chalk-line a couple reference lines here and there, but I don't really think you'd need it, it stayed pretty straight.

    I start my 51 sheets installation tomorrow, I went with the lift, but, I am 16 feet high with 24 foot long sheets, I sure hope my 2 helpers show up, smile. But I cheated also, I modified my lift a tad.

    • @SelfMadeProject
      @SelfMadeProject  5 лет назад

      Wow, 24' sheets 16' high! That's going to be a job! Even with helpers, that will be slow going at that height, be careful.
