I don’t get many views on the videos which I put a lot of effort into, so I decided to upload a video with no editing and no cuts to see if it would get more views than my other videos. This video simply contains me working in a crawlspace while adding support underneath a subfloor, that will eventually carry the weight of a toilet and it’s occupants. Friendly suggestions.
For future situations:
1.) The first 2 minutes and 30 seconds is when a folding rule with a sliding extension end is useful.
Alternatively - measure from one end and make a mark at a convenient spot midlength, then measure from the other end to the mark at the midlength location. Then add them together.
2.) End-nail or screw the cross bracing blocking in at the sister end before you install the sister. Ideally end-nail or screw both ends of the blocking in. It's easier then putting the fasteners in at an angle.
3.) Next time bring a clamp to hold the sister framing member in place so you have 2 hands for the fastener and tool.
