2yrs later and this is still one of the most helpful videos I've watched on removing the all of the cooling/heater hoses from under the intake manifold. I start this project here in a few weeks and i can say ill be coming back to this video and ofc The50sKid to help me knock it out. Thank You for posting this for all of us who are self taught and doing it by ourselves. On behalf of all the E46 Fanatics we appreciate the video.
first time i did it it was very daunting, but its not too bad once you get into it. masking tape and a sharpie helps keep things organized and will remind you where things go :)
I must say out of all of the videos that I watched. This is one of the most accurate and detailed and I like the vibe thanks my man appreciate the video and I will take the tricks and tips and use them to my advantage. Thanks again.
Excellent video. But I hate that you call the car a junker. The 3 series are awesome cars if you take care of them. I'm a frugal cheap skate and have a 2005 bmw 330ci zhp, and it's my baby and has been nothing but good to me. The cooling system is definitely the achilles heel on these cars but once you understand that these cars are just so damn reliable and fun to drive. They just have that analog feel you don't get from so many new cars. Happy driving, friend.
Great looking forward to replacing the cooling system in my e46 and this was a big help, I couldn't find any good complete guides on youtube. I think you should reupload the coolant replacing part of this video with a title more people would search when looking to replacing all of the hoses like "BMW e46 complete coolant Hoses replacement" or something would be great for other people to find easily!
Great video .. a mechanic just charged me 900 and change to change those 2 hoses under the intake manifold.. one split wide open.. 5.5 hrs labor.. does this sound fair?
DIY I'm going to accomplish this project when I get to feeling better. The only thing that spooks me are the vacuum hoses underneath the intake. I just want to know the size of the vacuum hoses I need before I get started. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I can hopefully find a size for ya in the garage, from what i researched online it looks to be inside diameter of 3.5mm, Ive found that there is not much size variation once you get down to this small of size, and theres usually only one spool at the auto parts store that looks correct and fits. takes some guesswork out of it
I cleaned it up with water after repairs, and as far as OEM parts, I would love to, theres nothing better, but $$ is tight and I need to save with reputable value brands as much as I can to keep the channel going
Great video. Do you have an Amazon affiliate link? I found myself adding products to my Amazon cart you mentioned like the 3M spray and Sil Gylde. Did you inspect the injectors while the intake manifold was out? Would that have been a good time to clean them, maybe in an ultrasonic cleaner?
Thank you for the heads up! I just added the links for sil glyde and wet silicone spray. I ought to go back through this video and see what other links i can provide. I didnt inspect the injectors, its sometimes difficult to see issues in the spray pattern with the naked eye but not a bad idea! Potentially a great time to clean them! I dont have any experience cleaning injectors by hand or with an ultrasonic cleaner but thats a good idea for a future tool to pick up :) Thanks for the feedback Marc
@@DayOffDIY thank you sir just got my self one of this little jewels and starting this new year I'm going to try to redo the whole car. @@DayOffDIY and yes I will reach out if i have any questions thank you so much out of a lot of videos you really when beyond explaining and showing all the steps you should link up with stansworks
Love the ZHP cars, I totally agree with giving it a second chance! These engines will go 300k+ easy! Good luck with your repairs! Let me know how it goes

@DayOffDIY no scanner is no good i did all over again to see if missed something but dint see anything unplug. i dont want to do it but im taking it to the mechanic tomorrow. on a good note replacing the pipes was easy thanks to your videos
@DayOffDIY you are like brother to us and i think some how taking the throttle body out it got mess up im getting a p0123 for throttle / pedal not sure if it is the sensor or the entire throttle body
I’ve replace 1 coolant pipe a few months ago the second pipe was fine but now is leaking bad 🤣 do yourself a favor and buy everything at once.. I gotta remove manifold again and bleed cooling again 😩 these m54 cooling systems suckkk!
I did a year of high school auto, worked at a parts store for 2 years, then as a service writer for a year, then worked my way from entry level tech to shop foreman over 6 years. All while wrenching on my own cars and professionally so it’s been a slow build ip

Holy shit that looks daunting. So many pipes, hoses and cables.

So nice to watch a pro at work, thank you for creating and sharing, I learned a lot and love your precise no nonsense presentation.

Definitely using this video for reference, I plan on overhauling my radiator and cooling pipes/hoses

Thats a great Idea Alex! Im glad you found it helpful
Great idea. He is the one who has done all the work and the videos.1
Huge Thanks! Waiting for Parts to arrive. Was changing oil and discovered leaking coolant.
Fantastic production! Exactly what I needed. Much love ( :
best video for fixing your coolnt hoses!
super appreciate that!!!
Great e46 content. I own a 2004 ZHP coupe that I’ve had since 2007. Still my daily driver.
Love a ZHP! Great lookin cars. Thanks for the comment
Great video .. a mechanic just charged me 900 and change to change those 2 hoses under the intake manifold.. one split wide open.. 5.5 hrs labor.. does this sound fair?
Sounds about right!
Great video on this work!
Thank you Greg! Appreciate the comment
great vids, buddie!
love the music and style. keep 'em comin'!
Thank you Tom! I’ll keep ‘em comin
Great video.
I was having a hard time pulling out that lower hose.
But now that I saw how u did it.
Hold my Dr. Pepper
Great install. Euro-Parts suck tho. Reins offers a higher quality aftermarket coolant and water pipe with superior O-Rings, damn near OEM.
Awesome work. 👍
Thank you!
Another great vid! I like that you are supporting products you believe in. Don't start shilling on dumb stuff now... Please.
Thanks! Good to see you again B W
Mtech 1 nice, thats a steal
thanks for watching!

thanks partner!
How do you unclip the 2nd water pipe? The one with elbow bend.. can seem to unclip it
Great content.
Thank you!!!
Why not cleaning the leaked coolant beneath the intake manifold and what is the reason you do not use OEM parts and hoses?
I cleaned it up with water after repairs, and as far as OEM parts, I would love to, theres nothing better, but $$ is tight and I need to save with reputable value brands as much as I can to keep the channel going
Is there any torque measurement for coolant hoses and ccv and intake manifold screws and nut
How long did it actually take to remove the intake and replace the two plastic lines on the side of the block?
Do you have a link to this kit?
Thank you so much man🔥🔥
Can't seem to find the 3m stuff only the dry type any other you would suggest
Yeah I can’t find it anymore on Amazon either.
I’ve trying this stuff out

Im in the middle of replacing the hard pipes, what brushes do you suggest for cleaning the holes in the block where they go in?@DayOffDIY
