Great video and amazing condition watch! I have the 'blue button' 5010 but I've never seen any hugely convincing evidence that the 5019 is definitely the screen worn version especially given that the official Seiko promo's for the film show the 5010 version.
Sad to see so few digital watches still made with a steel case. Plastic seems the way to go nowadays. I have a Braun BN0106 myself. Bought it in 2013. At that time if you wanted to buy a steel digital, it was either Braun or Junghans. And Junghans stopped making digital watches a few years after.
MrPleers, Try shopping for Kenneth Cole, Nixon, Apple, and Diesel LCD watches. These are stainless steel watches, square or rectangular shapes, but with different styles of the dial. Have a try Bro. I am a watch enthusiast on the digital-LCD lines. I was inspired before by Roger Moore's SEIKO LCD WATCHES in the James Bond series.
Hey Simon. I had no idea about the petagree of this watch. I have M354-5019 that was my Dad's. I only searched this watch on the internet because my top button has stopped working which means I cannot set the time after the battery is replaced. My band is a bit different but thanks for all the info. I hope I can get it fixed and I will now be much more careful with it. Cheers!
If the lcd has faded then it could be 2 things. Either low voltage which is unlikely, or most often its because the polarizer over the screen has been damaged by UV light over time. If its a polarizer problem its a very easy solution, just glue or tape a new polarizer in between the display and the crystal. (There are services that can remove the old polarizer and put a new one one i think)
Hi, is the model name inscribed on the watch? For ex, on the blue one is M354-5010 on it anywhere? If not, how does one know it is one? I am looking at one, nut it only has a serial number on the back. Thank you! Update, I see now it does. Great video.
Hey Donny, look in the bottom left hand side of the screen itself, it'll tell you in small writing exactly which model you've got. You might need a magnifying glass (not being sarcastic!) because it really is quite small. Good luck!

Got the blue one as a 21st present in 1979. I haven't worn it for 20 years, but recently changed the battery. Working fine!
Nice! If you ever decide to sell, you’ve got a buyer right here!
Hey I know it's been a while but do you happen to know the battery number for your watch? I thought it was 389?
Thanks

I have a 45 year old seiko. Wish I could find out how to brighten the display which has darkened a bit over time.

Where can you find batteries for the watch
Bill Bargar hey! Duracell 389/390 batteries fit this watch. They are super cheap. Costs around £1.50 - £2 per battery.
Any information on how to change the batteries? I’m picking up an old one this week
