  • Do you like high Alpine Lakes? Do you like waterfalls? Then this ride is for you.
    Here is the full loop of East fork to Lost Lake located in New Mexico in the Wheeler Peak Wilderness. The best way to get there is from Taos to Questa to Red River and parking is in the outside of Red River.
    I rode this on the Ibis Ripmo v2, great enduro/trail weapon and it is a seriously good climber! It was so easy to climb out here on this bike.
    I recommend riding this trail counter-clockwise if you are doing the loop. The major climbing is in the beginning, it is tough, but the last 65% of the ride is all downhill.
    The second lake at the end of the video is called Middle Fork lake.
    This is a ride that will top out at 11,623ft altitude so bring plenty of water and food to eat on the trail. You will climb over 3,382 ft as well at 16.5 miles if you do the loop clockwise as I did and stop at the last lake as I did.
    Enjoy the ride...

    hey brother do you think this will be rideable the first week of May?

    • @travelthenarrowtrail8660
      @travelthenarrowtrail8660  3 года назад

      Hey Tony, hope you are doing well. First week of May, probably not, still too much snow back there and mud. Probably first week of June it will be good. Many of the NM and CO higher trails are usually June. You going to Taos?

      @@MTBdropIN Yeah I hope its warmer for this ride. It's truly an epic ride no doubt but because it gets up to 10,000 and well over 11,000 feet, snow melt can take time. Let me know, I might be able to ride with you unless you have other plans, I totally get it. Angel fire might be open though in May. Maybe...

    Those views are amazing. Thanks for including so much info! I’ll b visiting from Texas next week and I’m trying to plan out my rides. Also, my wife is a beginner biker. Would you recommend these trails for her or is there better beginner trails in NM? Thanks in advance. Subbed!

    • @travelthenarrowtrail8660

      Thanks for watching and the kind words. I'm not too familiar with all the riding in NM, hoping to change that, but... Snow fall just happened yesterday and I'm not sure how much Taos or Red River got from it. This trail might be under snow, so check weather. It should be warming up in the days coming.
      This trail would be too much for a beginner rider and even it would be a difficult hike but worth it for a hike. Which trails you ride in NM depends on where you are planning to visit, which I'm not sure where you were planning to go.
      I would say Santa Fe has La Tierra trails that has trails for beginners (singletrack), intermediate and expert (jumps). I have heard but not ridden there yet, that Galisteo has trails for beginner/intermediate. Also, 15 minutes from Albuquerque is a place called Placitas that has trails for beginner/intermediate as well. I've also heard that Angel Fire has some beginner singletrack that is not in the bike park but again, not sure how much snow they got either.
      I would highly recommend if you don't have these, get trailfork and MTB Project apps for your phone. You can look for trails that might fit your itinerary. I hope the weather will be nice for you when you come, depending on where you plan to visit.
      Hope this helps.

    Beautiful! I miss the NM mountains. Did you ever look at the Fezzari La Sal Peak vs. Ripmo? I am trying to decide between them.

    • @travelthenarrowtrail8660
      @travelthenarrowtrail8660  4 года назад +1

      I have not compared the La Sal Peak but I know it's got some great reviews. Differences might be that Fezzari is a single link vs Ibis DW dual link suspension. Fezzari might require less maintenance but any full suspension will require some level of maintenance. The DW Link is really good though for climbing and on descents it handles almost anything. I think it may come down to colors, aesthetics, price and warranty. Price wise, I would contact Shaun at N+1bikes, he will give you an amazing price and might be able to get you a Ripmo faster than most any other shop and customize any build you might want. Not sure about Fezzari availability. I know the Ripmo is a highly sought after bike right now and hard to obtain depending on who you ask. Wish I could help more, both bikes you are looking at you can''t go wrong.

    How long would you say the ride took you to complete?

    • @travelthenarrowtrail8660
      @travelthenarrowtrail8660  3 года назад

      It’s all going to depend on your fitness level. I made a day out of it as I spent time at the lake and the water fall. Took pics and filming. Depends on how long you want it to be.
