It's too easy take the broad way that leads to destruction, so Travel the Narrow Trail.

This is a sampler of the Dale Ball trail system in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Just 10 minutes from town in the mountains. Several ways this can be ridden. I have ridden it in the easiest fashion in which you get all the downhill, with the least amount of climbing. There is climbing involved though. Congrats. Great build! I want to build a Ripley V5 with RockShox suspension. Pike 140mm Ultimate on the front, and Deluxe or Super Deluxe for the rear shock. But I can't decide which one will be best. Deluxe seems more similar to the stock Fox or the Ripley V5, retaining the original purpose of the short travle trail bike it is, but Super Deluxe might be more capable making it more versatile. What would you recommend based on your experience with the Ripmo and your suspension setup? Thanks for your help!
I think you have the right idea. I have loved the SDU and as you see in my video, I am running the XL linear air can. It's pretty nice, small bump compliance off the top is amazing. I think if you want it to be more capable, I would do the SDU and I would even do the XL linear air can. It adds no weight increase but only adds to be more like a mini vivid. It also sits high in the travel and has great mid stroke support for climbing.
Did you use the galfer mounts for those hays brakes to the galfer rotor?
No, just Shimano ones.
Such a good build man! Every component is 🔥 but tell me why I can’t get over the rotors 😮 🔥 🔥 Congrats
Thanks man. So far, changed the grips to Ergon GDH team grips thanks to Dagonger recommendation. They’re amazing, new favs. Thinking strongly about a Vivid to create light enduro feel.
Stunning build as always. It’s good to see you back on a Ripmo. Looking forward to your thoughts on the v3.
Such a sick bike. And So true N+1 is the Best bike shop I’ve ever dealt with. Shaun and his team are a cool bunch. Love my Ripley V5.
That's good info. Just what I needed. Thx
No way is that outdated. That is one of the greatest bikes ever.
This looks like a broken collar bone waiting to happen for anybody possessing anything less than advanced MTB/trials riding skills. Think cycle cross clipped in rock hopping artisans with the skill and grace of a mountain goat.

Just found your channel, great job! What camera you use?
Go Pro Hero 9. Will upgrade to the 12 soon.
Thanks
@@travelthenarrowtrail8660 Thanks. How much memory do you need? and how do you get that clarity? Mine has lots of pixilation so please advise.
@@millerman692 Memory depends on how much you will be filming and how long. It's probably best to get a card that is larger than you need. It helps to always have more space. As far as the clarity. It depends on what camera you are using and the settings you have on it. Are you filming in the day or cloudy days. I would recommend looking up some YT videos on camera settings for your camera. It would be too long to do here. Also, what software are you rendering the footage with. What setting on the software are you using, for example are you rendering in 1080 or in 4k? Look for some videos, there's many. Find some that are using your software and your particular camera. Hope this helps.
@@travelthenarrowtrail8660 Thank you
Is this an ebike? What kind is it? I’ve hiked all of those trails. They’re beautiful but I think now the fire burned them.
No E-bike… It’s an Ibis Ripmo.
plenty of old bikes can still shred
do this one again, it appears that the trail boss has been updated, much better tread (outside lugs) recently.
This is the updated version. It does have the wider tread. I actually like the trail boss over the dissector and the aggressor.
@@travelthenarrowtrail8660 ok, cool. i thought they updated the TB just a couple years back. at any rate, i just put the light/fast 2.4 on my rear, and a vigilante 2.5 up front. not sure on the vigi, it's ok on the kitty litter (dg) out here in the desert but i think the verdict is a better choice for this sandy nonsense i ride in..
I have those rotors on my new Roscoe 9 with TRP evo slate brakes and mate those are badass, but i was wondering can you tell me if i go up with those even higher end rotors TRP TR-42 2,3mm will day fit on my breaks, cause on site it said only for dh-r and E-bikes !? Thx
Hmm, you might want to call TRP about that. They have great customer service and they will direct you. Cheers.
Hi, im from Indonesia. Like your honest review. Keep the channel up.
How can we be sure you are consistent with your timing? Hard to do.
J, pop some wheelies!
Nah there's nothing mixed about maguras, aside some reviews. 2:45 they are good and wider
Nice review of the bike Jason! Beautiful scenery as always. Good to see you back!!!
Glad to be back, blessings Tim!
Nice review. Great build, really distinctive and personalized, interesting choices. Also, I love berd spokes.
Yeah the Berd spokes give a little bit of a damped feel is my impression.
Glad you're back. Enjoy the new bike.
Welcome back! Bummer to learn the Ripmo is no more but excited for new content with the SB160 🤙
Thanks for the support!
Can you use the Shimano pads with the TRP rotor?
Yes.
I was riding terrain similar to this terrain throughout the past winter (2023-24) in Utah (Moab and Hurricane) and Arizona (Sedona). Starting to realize I'm a better mountain biker than I thought I was considering I was riding a custom-built 26" hardtail singlespeed. This is the Way
Love your video very useful information I plan on doing a video for the hope tech 4 v4 Vs Shimano 2 piston and 4 piston
I bought a fuel ex 7 that came standard with a TRP brake system which I didn't like at all, I installed some Shimano model XT and the discs of the same brand didn't work, they folded like paper. Having saved the trp rotors, I just installed them as you show in your video and what a surprise I was, it brakes excellent, the discs do not bend with the heat and goodbye vibration to the front of the bicycle, thanks for the contribution!
Whats that buzzing noise from the rotor.
thicker rotors makes them more powerful?
I hope they're not brushed aluminum lol
Love your video style and commentary! Thanks for stopping to show us the view
I've recently installed TRP 2.3 mm rotors for my Saint brakes. After bedding in they became so powerful that I have gone OTB not expecting this amount of power. Really worth every penny!
How does thicker rotors give you more power? I keep hearing that but don't understand how
@@Rickie-37 A part of it is subjective as with thicker rotors you get the bite point faster and feel more power. But the other thing is that they don't get hot so fast, so they maintain optimal braking parameters during longer descends. As there is no fade, you get that bite when you need to brake more after you have been slowing down before.
Yea the whole bite point thing still puzzles me. In automotive and motorcycles, the piston will just stay out further as the pads and rotors wear down. I guess if you bleed it with the pistons out a bit it would feel the same with thinner rotors? @@alfrednOObel2
thats not rotor related if they are the same size.
@@MrSupermugen I have changed only the rotors, and my brakes are more powerful. Maybe it is not direct, but thicker rotors need less cooling, so less holes. Less holes = more contact surface = more friction = better breaking.
Great Info: But I'm a bit curious about the substantially less metal surface for the pads on the Galfer rotors despite the larger diameter of 180 vs 203mm. I can see the benefit of staying cooler, but also, pads obviously can negate the lesser metal, and perhaps also the type of steel they are made from. In addition, The concept of using different brake pads front and rear is great. I'm currently doing my research in choosing and buying the correct adapters for my climate and riding style. 👍
The galfer noise that flutters that you demonstrated ,could you feel this fluttering when braking too through the lever? As I have this issue on my front galfer wave rotor and the feel is more annoying that the noise.
I have switched to the Galfer Shark rotors and have had no issues in any way. More quieter too.
Better than the trp?
Beautiful depiction of a complicated area. Bravo for doing it!
5ektrosare awesome. 5hinkin of getting it. But i already got a bucklos 2.0 thickness floating rotor. it's good for roads frommy testing
beautiful video.....the bending horizon actually made me almost nauseous. lol. thats a first for me from a video! I guess there is power in video that I didn't realize, besides the power of beauty!
Did you ever tried Trickstuff rotors or pads?
No, very difficult to obtain in the USA.
Something else to keep in mind for this system. It’s very remote and a good idea to ride with a buddy there if any emergencies arise. Access is extremely limited for emergency vehicles. Helicopter would be your lifeline if something were to go wrong.
Stairway To Hell is all cleanable (No dabs) Built by mountain bikers.
You dabbing it up, lol... You ate your wheaties that day didn't you. 🤣
👍 Nice, We’ve broken many parts and frames in that system so always be prepared for anything. Trailforks is the best for NM. Mtb project is unfortunately substandard.
Agree, I think MTB Project just fell off and REI never puts any effort into it. I have the paid version of trailforks.
hope ibis all better
The best pads I've found (Shimano or sram code) is the same as many manufacturers get from Chinese manufacturer santa brakes, they're the green ceramic ones on ali, about 2$ for a set 😂
There's nothing good in them aside quietness
I have the 2 bike rack. Best rack available. Note: you make look lighter than it really is the way you hold it on your knees and fold arms in and out. You must be pretty strong. I’m ordering two add on,s so I can carry 4 bikes when needed. Total is about 800 for original rack and another 600 for two add ons. Very expensive but worth the money.
I immediately subscribed when you said you didn't do this for sponsors 😅. I've been trying to see if people fit 2.0mm rotors to shimano 4 piston brakes. Looks like it will work and I have some 2.0 magura mdr-c (ebike) 1 piece rotors to try. cheers.
Did you take the shuttle from Fort Marcy Park? If not, Have you ever ? My nose gets so dry and often bleeds there it's so dry.
Aluminium? I don't think so....
I think I met your buddy Ruben. Hope to ride with you sooner than later..
V2S is only interesting if you plan to get the new sram transmission but I still prefer the old logo
I prefer the old one too. Since that was my 2nd Ripmo, I decided to try Yeti this time, with sram XX transmission. New revamped Ripmo to come in spring of 2024 I was told.
I have Code Rs on my new DH bike and they feel really bad. There’s visibility a large gap between the rotor and pads and the brake feel reflects that. There a big dead zone at the beginning of the brake pull. Thinking about getting these to reduce that dead zone.
Yeah a 2.3mm rotor would fill that up, sounds like they would fit.
Haha very hard test
