My solution was a piece of black paper scotch taped to the fishfinder. Dirt cheap, easy to store away when not needed, and doesn't interfere with fitting my fishfinder back into it's case between use. If worried about water, could use a paper-thin piece of black plastic just as easily. Check an office supply store for vinyl binders.
Yes, I used the Velcro Sticky Back for Auto. Going to take it on the water Tuesday. Can't wait ! This has been a long term problem and have wanted to fix it. I put a NuShield film on my HDS10 but it really didn't help that much.
You gave me a great idea for a homemade visor for my kayak fishfinder. Mine cost about $5. Just used some thin flat black plastic from a plastic file folder I purchased at Target. I cut out a rectangle, creased the edges and attached with velcro.
fishing is my drug I still use it here and there, just have to be careful about accidentally hitting it. I would recommend maybe using something else instead of Velcro. Maybe something more permanent
Tim Trewyn I would maybe secure it with some screws if that’s the case. I have had it out in some windy conditions, but if the wind hits it a weird angle it could come off
A couple of slots in the kydex to run the velcro straps thru and around the whole shitteree makes it stable and easily removable.

+doctorxring no problem
I already made two of them. One for my HDS10 and one for my Helix 5 for my pond boat. They are great !
Can't thank you enough.

tom brook i made a similar one with plastic but didnt like the look of it. I like how the kydex looks when its all done
Awesome, thank you.
How well does the Velcro hold it on in the wind…or on a bass boat going 60mph?
Not very well lol
Great idea! Thanks for sharing.
Hello congratulation for the video, how you fix the visor to the fish finder?
Thank you
velcro
Watch the whole video...
Great idea!
Great sun visor man!
Smoke wolf (Bass Assassin) thanks
You look like prior military. You hot a "Ranger rolled" head gear.lol

Looks grate
Are you still using this shade? If so, how's it holding up?

Very nice!
fishing is my drug thanks
Did you consider using screws to mount? Like the way the BerleyPro visors mount? Nice DIY!
FishNinjaY I did think about using screws. I just figure Velcro would easier for quick removal if need be. Thanks
The BerleyPro visor is trash...yeah, I made that expensive mistake.
how is your visor holding up 3 years later?
earnest just I lost it somewhere on the lake a while back lol
Cool! Does it hang on in the wind?

Sounds like it holds up well! Nice work.@@32OT491
Brilliant sir
Top! Tanks.
Good build but don't think it will stay on mine at 60 mph.
Right on!!
you skipped the part about trimming the over hang back. I'm assuming it's about 2.5 inches or a 45degree cut. Is this true?
Gaylan Charles yeah I’m pretty sure it is
Make me one for Garmin Echomap 93SV and I’ll pay you lol
Lol, this video is pretty old I don’t even have any of the materials anymore. Ended up just buying a Berley pro for the next kayak.
@@32OT491 How did it fit? I saw a video saying you have to cut it to fit?
@@LetsCrappieFish the DIY one or the Berley pro ?
@@32OT491 Berley pro
@@32OT491 I can only print 220mm x 220mm by 250mm maximum. What’s the inside cut out? 1mm?
