Faker is the glue that hold T1 together. It makes sense that people look to him when T1 does well because 10/10 times when T1 is doing well Faker is also performing well, finding the right plays to make and leading his team in comms. That's not to take away from Zeus or Oner or Guma or Keria one bit. They are all undisputed best players in the world on their roles. It's just impossible to put a price tag or a weight value on what Faker brings to T1 and that is why people call him the undisputed best player of ALL time - The GOAT.
For Guma I think he was saying in his Instagram live how he might've won FMVP if they had won last year's Worlds and no doubt in my mind if T1 needed him to step up at any point during the series he would've. Probably just the nature of the role as adc, you just do your job and stay alive. Same thing with Faker, just had to do what he always does for the team, especially when the players around him are hungry and playing out of their minds for the trophy. Zeus very humble, I feel like Faker got around to him. "Best top just for today and going back to the challenger mindset starting the next." Oner was incredible, there's not enough praises going around for him. Keria New Jeans.

I saw couple of times even Faker himself's hands were shaking, shivering by the fact it was final couple of years ago. Think of all the other players that were at the stage of final this year. Since T1 EVERY members felt the amount of pressure they had last year still with the same team and same member, it was pretty sure more relaxing final than Weibo. Shoutout to Riot crews, members, anyone made this final so unforgettable memories. Thanks everyone and Thanks T1.
16:34 "the worlds where they didn't make it very far": finals, semi-finals, semi-finals, finals. T1 really changes the definition of not making it very far - their worst worlds showings equal or exceed most other teams' best. If Zeus and Keria continue to perform near peak over the next 2-3 years then they'll be remembered - especially if they can avoid another midsummer nightmare in the event that Faker needs time off.
I really couldn't put MaRin in the GOAT Top conversation mostly because he's only on that title for a single year. When you say GOAT, it should be someone who remains among the best for a certain period of time. That's the primary reason why Faker is the unanimous GOAT of League. He's among the best players in the world for a decade, and has won so many championships that there's really no one who comes close to him (aside from Bengi).
@@lordpaulphilippfernandez9904 I agree that Faker is the greatest and no one comes close to - dominance, impact (not the player 😅), consistency, longevity, he has them all and no one comes close. And now he's about to fight for his fifth title. These T1 young players are lucky to be on the same team with the GOAT, and Faker is lucky to be with such incredibly talented players. I still cant wrap my head around the fact that Faker sees everything from top to bot, including jungle, and that he can predict what was going to happen 30 seconds from now. I swear he's playing an RTS and not a MOBA. That knowledge and experience he has can't be replaced by pure talent alone. You can field the most mechanical players against him and he'd out-position, out-macro, and out everything them if he has full control of 4 other players. Dude's far from human if you ask me. It'd be a boon to researchers if they can take a peek on what's happening inside Faker's brain when he plays, might be useful in some way or another.
As an Oner fan, I am so happy Oner got to be honored and recognized. His mechanics and plays really contributed a lot on their championship. Oner woke up and realized, he was once a finals mvp in lck 🥹 I don’t care about other people’s opinion on him for I know he did really well the whole tournament.
On the topic of the Worlds Meta... I think what happened was, T1 lost to Gen G in Swiss and then immediately started to completey rethink their approach to the draft and switched to the style that suits them the best, which is the pick-heavy double ranged bully botlane playstyle. I do not think that the ranged Supports like Caitlyn or Ashe etc are the strongest on the patch, much rather I think that T1 just said to themselves "this is the stuff we are good at, so let's play to out strength and either win or lose playing our own game". What then happened was, that all the LPL teams said "Omg, T1 is playing the ranged supports, we have to do it as well", which in my opinion was a complete overreaction by them. Neither BLG nor WBG do have much experience with double ADC botlanes so they put themselves out of their comfort zone just to fit a new playstyle that wouldn't even matter for them at that point in time, since they wouldn't face T1 until the finals anyway. And so suddenly everyone started panicking and jumping on the ranged support band-wagon that T1 had accidently started by saying "Let's play what we're good at"... I don't think T1 had planned beforehand to change the perceived Meta of all the other teams at the tournament, but it just came in handy for them because no other team can play this style as well as them, so everyone else shifting their focus onto ranged supports, instead of just playing to their own strengths, probably was the downfall of the LPL at worlds 2023. And what do we take away from it? Don't and panic overreact when another team plays different champions than you and play to your own strengths rather than trying to adapt to a style you have no experience with... T1 did not change the Meta, T1 just changed their own approach to the game which then by accident resulted in all the other teams also changing their approach to the game and playing right into T1s hands.
Enjoyed your World’s content last year, didn’t expect the production to go from 60 to 120 this year. So happy for you and so excited for next time you cover MSI/World’s.
The Let’s Go videos were some of my favorite worlds content this year great job on that! I’d disagree about Guma making no mistakes since he mentioned that losing level 1 game 2 was bad on his part. Yeah he definitely didn’t have to carry anything in the finals though.
Thanks Jatt for the excellent podcast series and the Lets Go to Worlds series, I had so much fun watching both. Listening to you describe your return to Korea and Korean esports really hit the mark for me because thats exactly how I felt too. I was at the WCG in Busan in 2011, mostly to watch Starcraft, but also to support CDE in League. 12 years later coming back to Korea and getting to enjoy live Korean esports again, its just magical, nothing else like it. Thanks again. T1 fighting!
JLXP and the Let's Go series on the LCS channel has been my favorite content for the past few weeks and I just realized that I hadn't even subscribed yet! Thank you for all your work Jatt, looking forward to 2024!
Loved JLXP this year, worlds content this year wouldn't be the same without you! Thanks for all you do throughout these years, you're carrying NA hard!!!
I gotta say for a decade, your experience with league and t1 has been a good ride, in a way its is a fruitful season 2 ending for T1's lore. Thank you for the podcasts 🎉🎉
but this makes me really think how valuable all the t1 players are without faker. they are definently A tier, but there is a high chance faker makes them S+ , because they can focus on there game and they dont have to do macro decisions while side laning or planning out the next minutes. there was also a clip where keria asked ult cd of 2 champs. no one knew and faker instantly called both cooldowns. also vs wbg in the last game where wbg engaged on zeus, oner called that aatrox will die, but faker then screamed he survives he survives. first of all fucking impressive to look at that situation and know he would survive but also another part that shows how much faker influences whats happening. and then the biggest reason where you have to question the other 4 without faker is when he was out obviously. it looked horrible, they had no identity. so really curious to see what happens if they split up
i think they are still s+ tier, i think faker out just shows how important shotcalling has become for proplay, like if we look at so called "superteams" almost always imploding, it is probably because of shotcalling with either no strong voice or multiple competing voices, and that is what t1 was without faker, great talents but no voice as guidance.
@31:13 I have been a fan of T1 since 2015 and i have never seen T1 fans vouched for a roster like how we vouched for this roster. Even when they were constantly placing 2nd/3rd -- there's just something special about this roster that personally makes them the best SKT/T1 roster. And i disagree, fans have acknowledged how Faker from a mechanical god shifted his play style to a macro god that will often make clutch plays or "montage plays". We do know he is not solely the reason why they won. Fans have acknowledged how great of players the other 4 are. And in fact, carry Faker to his 4th Worlds. As you have mentioned team gap, with all the roster changes Faker has been through in the 10 years of his career, at least since 2015 Marin, Bengi, Bang, Wolf, that T1 truly looks like a monster team. (We can argue their 2017 too) But you know what I mean, they have struggled in mixing, and trying and replacing their Top and Jungle -- and so when Zeus and Oner entered yes they were young but since the start of this roster Spring 2022 -- we have all seen their synergy is unmatched And they have enough games and skills recognitions to their name that they can build their own legacy without Faker's name looming over them Zeus is probably the most sought this off season. Oner is basically everyone's tournament MVP. The bot-lane duo of Guma and Keria historical already and coming in Worlds everyone was saying Keria is the greatest player of the year. Guma will have the hardest time with the 5 of them because the conversation of great ADC players is full of insane amount of talent.
I think what this team has going for them that Bang Wolf Marin Bengi etc didn’t have is that Faker is now in a supportive role for the most part + how mechanically gifted everyone is. Stuff that held Wolf & Bengi back was the perception of their mechanics. Marin went to the LPL. Bang was legitimate but Faker was also a carry. The player most at risk for these kind of perceptions is probably Guma. Guma gets a lot of flack and the reason for that argument is that he’s with Keria. Though I personally feel Guma is one of the most clutch players I’ve ever seen, people feel you can put in Viper or Ruler with Keria and do better.
When Faker took a break because of his injuries, T1 crumbled. It's a proof how important Faker is to T1. And that silenced some of the haters. Others would say "he is not the best mid laner" because of his KDA and other stats. Keeping a good KDA even though your team is on the brink of losing the game is NOT a good mindset. It's a selfish act that will affect your teammates gameplay in crucial situations. Faker focuses more on shot calling and playmaking. His humility, game changing plays, shotcalls, insane focus, how he lead & guide his teammates with his experience makes him the best mid laner for me. And of course the GOAT player in the League. Faker, who is not the #1 in overall KDA stats won: - 4 Worlds - 2 MSI - 10 LCK title Now if you really still hate the guy, I really don't know what to say. Nobody is perfect. 🤷♂
This is why I never believed in Chovy, ever. Lil bro just wins lane and hopes that his teammates went even so he can carry. Of course that wasn't the case anymore during 2023 Summer, but he was literslly just that during GEN vs BLG. He had no impact whatsoever.
T1 really had to smash through all the LPL teams - BLG, LNG, JDG, and finally WBG (although some might consider the JDG series to be the "real" finals) - absolutely insane stuff
I'll never ever go silent on how immense the pressure T1 had this worlds. The dudes are on their home soil carrying their home region alone, take note, ALONE. When KT and GenG drop I had this impending doom growing in me as an LCK fan from Day 1 I watch pro league. I'm a firm believer of LCK is the greatest and strongest region and to see 2 of 3 LCK team being eliminated by LPL team makes me shiver in fear. I'm not gonna lie, I ready myself on the possibility T1 will lose to JDG, my best guess would be 3-2 or worst 3-1 or 3-0 favor of JDG. But when that Azir play happens and when they took that dominating Game 1, the memories of T1 Worlds 2022 came rushing to me and make me believe again. I know I'm horrible and kinda a bandwagon but after that JDG series, I've never doubted them again even people saying this T1 roster have bad luck in terms of Finals but nah, they surely go for it and for sure fight their best fight just like last year and they did. It's anticlimactic to me since it's 3-0 but it doesn't matter cause they finally got it, with tons of records on their belt as well. 4th Worlds championship, 11-1 against LPL, eliminated 3 out of 4 LPL team and many more. And as of this writing, all of them sign again, this means the team will go for more now. This Worlds narrative far exceeded the narrative on Worlds 2022, last year it's Deft raising from below but this one Faker and T1 making the LCK light still lit and not making Korea go silent all Semis and Finals match.
You're point on Bang not being spoken about is so true. But also BENGI, Azael mention's Bengi as best JG ever and the immediate response is "oh he's Faker's 3rd summoner spell". Does no one remember 2016 Bengi putting T1 on his back vs ROX Tigers? Which again to me is the best series ever played, storyline, MF support, Bengi first time Nidalee, and just overall how close it was.
I always say that bang is so underrated. I dont think people remember how hard he would carry games or how T1 would run double enchanters and make him 1v9. I also think that hes easily the best ezreal of all time, his ezreal was always doing more damage than any other ezreal
The problem that analysts have with Faker being the GOAT is that they try to measure his performance along with numbers which cannot be translated to what he brings inside the game. As for example, in the third game against JDG where Faker clutched a play to make a comeback for T1 in the game how can you measure this into KDA or gold farmed? Faker is the in game leader where in other games as CS:GO it is widely understood that the tactician will have lower numbers because he's setting plays or controlling the map, only for League's analysts measure his cs per minute, dmg per minute, and label as underperforming. As for Faker's team mates being under his shadow, we have to go through Faker intangibles as how much taunt or attention he drew to midlane until today. He was constantly harassed, ganked, camped meanwhile the other lanes could pick strong champions and go scale via matchup advantages. Faker is one of the few players that can play, and do plays being heavily under gold compared to enemy team or even his team mates. How many MVP points he sacrificed in LCK games, or even in the Worlds just to be supportive to a great goal. I could go on, but I think no one is going to read this wall of text. Cheers.
Great video! I personally believe that until Faker is retired, no player will have the opportunity to actually make a step towards building a legacy for himself. So regardeless of T1 players joining a different team next year or not its always going to be Faker. He is just have done so much for this game and the records are unbelievable that he will keep be the GOD of the game. Interesting would be if people for instance would talk about Chovy in 5-10 years from now. I dont think so. And thats because despite the fact that he is a very talented player he played during the era of Faker.
You never know how this game evolves, so the record can be broken. Maybe a rookie superteam arrives onto the scene and wins 3 worlds in a row. But the longevity record (10 years between worlds wins), will for sure never ever be broken. The 10 year gap is perhaps the most insane thing that ever happened in any esport. Even the gap between their first CS 1.6 and CS GO Major wins for Neo and f0rest wasn’t that long, it was more like 7-8 years
There's probably gonna be a player with 4+ world championship but I highly doubt they'd ever manage to get a back to back worlds. At the very least I doubt anyone would be able to dominate LoLEsports as much as faker has during their dynasty. Edit: In a way I agree with your theory, the rest of T1 definitely figured out some issues when Faker was gone.
the only thing that can shatter this t1 roster is the budget cap, theres literally no one who can replace each individual player in their respective roles because each one of them is literally the best in the world in their own roles
Zeus label as a choker is a bit unfair given his age and there are stories that he was sick last year too. Sometimes people get really stuck on narratives.
Paraphrasing maybe the best quote from Worlds, from Drakos: It wasnt the LCK vs the LPL. It was T1 vs the LPL. Im an LCK fan first and a T1 fan like third. The format and exact seeding this year was awesome. Going from the absolute bottom of the barrel low heartbreak of GenG's loss, to KT's surprise showing and then T1's nonstop rocketship was a lot. Also I think Guma actually will down the line go underappreciated the most out of all of them for what he did in their playoffs run, if only because despite his perfect performance in the finals he was effectively invisible. The games were such stomps and such top/jungle/sup diffs that they never needed to play around him, he was the seasoning they didnt need. But holy fuck, the man skill checked GALA and RULER. In a 1v1, and a 1v2 where the 2 was 369. Zeus being the best toplaner of the tournament isnt too outstanding because I feel like thats kind of expected. Same with Keria being the best support of the tournament, thats less surprising and more a return to the form he kind of should always be in. Faker being the best mid is incredible but it loses some impact because the clear contenders, Scout/Chovy/Xiaohu, all either underperformed or straight up choked. Oner being the best jungler of the tournament is a lot more impressive given the general performances of almost every jungler at Worlds. But I feel like at this Worlds the ADC role went largely unchoked. I cant think of a single top tier botlaner who would have been expected to perform who, even on teams that choked, underperformed. Gala, Peyz, Ruler, Light, Aiming, Elk, they all played if not amazingly then at least solidly. Guma cleared them all, and made it look easy. Guma's performance and his dominance was fucking mental. Also also I hope they run this Worlds format again. Playins being all bo3s was amazing, the general swiss format was fantastic. Swiss could use some tweaks with the seeding, and itd be nice if they killed bo1s, but overall if the only options are this swiss or go back to groups I would never go back. And I hope the LCS, and the LEC, take the right lessons from NRG. From roster moves so far unfortunately I dont think they have, but maybe
imo if Weibo had a better bot lane or if they had a bigger champ pool, it would’ve been closer. Caedrel even pointed it out that Light and Crisp don’t play Senna/Tahm or Bard. T1 bot lane pretty much coasted while top side was carrying all 3 games lol. And it sucks that TheShy doesn’t play many counter picks, but I think Weibo should’ve at least picked red side game 2. TheShy Kennen was not it. His Kennen is negative win rate lol. If T1 vs JDG was finals, Faker would’ve gotten MVP just off that game 3 shuffle to win the game. I’m happy Zeus got it though. Deserved.
T1 is going to run it back and shoot for the Golden Road 2024. Guma, Keria, Oner and Zeus can be great individually but together they can be legendary. If they complete the Golden Road, they will be legendary individually.
I would even put Perkz higher than Xiaohu. He also performed world class on 2 roles, similar international achievements but Perkz had higher individual performances - Leblanc hard carrying a garbage bot against the favourites in 2017 and high level ADC performance in 2019 and chaining LEC wins b4b on 2 roles.
Faker is the glue that hold T1 together. It makes sense that people look to him when T1 does well because 10/10 times when T1 is doing well Faker is also performing well, finding the right plays to make and leading his team in comms.
Thanks Jatt for your coverage at worlds and for the JLXP! Hope to hear more of the podcast throughout the year!.
4:38 I think Deft was the SSB AD. Obviously nothing against Faker's longevity but a testament to both of them
Enjoyed your World’s content last year, didn’t expect the production to go from 60 to 120 this year. So happy for you and so excited for next time you cover MSI/World’s.
I also very much agree- the Swiss format was a great improvement for the viewer experience. Each game mattering more was huge
Deft was on Samsung Blue during the Korean Exodus and is still playing!
He did go to LPL during the Korean exodus though. He was on EDG for season 5
This was awesome Jatt. Production team has been on fire. Train podcast was really special. Did you get to golf in Korea?
Screen golf in Korea is OP
The Let’s Go videos were some of my favorite worlds content this year great job on that! I’d disagree about Guma making no mistakes since he mentioned that losing level 1 game 2 was bad on his part. Yeah he definitely didn’t have to carry anything in the finals though.
I only started watchong this podcast 3 episodes before, and its absolutly amazing. i love it
Ahh Jatt, you are rly a blessing for the league scene!😊
Thanks Jatt for the excellent podcast series and the Lets Go to Worlds series, I had so much fun watching both. Listening to you describe your return to Korea and Korean esports really hit the mark for me because thats exactly how I felt too. I was at the WCG in Busan in 2011, mostly to watch Starcraft, but also to support CDE in League. 12 years later coming back to Korea and getting to enjoy live Korean esports again, its just magical, nothing else like it. Thanks again. T1 fighting!
What a cool thing you get to do. You do it well. I bet it’s a lot of hard work, and crazy schedules.
Congratulations to the winner of the LPL Fall Finals - T1.
Was wa8ting for a new episode. Great work to you and the crew. Hope you can catch some rest before LCS starts.
Love the content, hope to see more before worlds 2024 but I'll take what I can get!
Jatt carries worlds.
JLXP and the Let's Go series on the LCS channel has been my favorite content for the past few weeks and I just realized that I hadn't even subscribed yet!
Thank you for all your work Jatt, looking forward to 2024!
Thanks for a great worlds series of podcasts Jatt. Looking forward to 2024!
Great addition to worlds tysm❤
Loved JLXP this year, worlds content this year wouldn't be the same without you! Thanks for all you do throughout these years, you're carrying NA hard!!!
I really enjoyed all your content this Worlds, Jatt. But I've always enjoyed your content, so I was not surprised :)
his smile brings warmth to my heart
I gotta say for a decade, your experience with league and t1 has been a good ride, in a way its is a fruitful season 2 ending for T1's lore. Thank you for the podcasts 🎉🎉
Thank you for all your analysis videos! By a wide margin your takes, breakdowns, and style is the best at describing league.
You made this worlds special jatt, Ty!
best worlds podcast there is honestly. Keep it up Jatt !!
I'm sure Jatt realized this already, but Deft played on Samsung blue in 2014, so at least one out of those 10 continues to play.
man what a great series of content, really gonna miss that... thanks jatt an the team behind it for your efforts!
jatt is such a talent, likable, knowledgeable and so eloquent, always a pleasure to watch his content
but this makes me really think how valuable all the t1 players are without faker.
they are definently A tier, but there is a high chance faker makes them S+ , because they can focus on there game and they dont have to do macro decisions while side laning or planning out the next minutes.
there was also a clip where keria asked ult cd of 2 champs. no one knew and faker instantly called both cooldowns.
also vs wbg in the last game where wbg engaged on zeus, oner called that aatrox will die, but faker then screamed he survives he survives.
first of all fucking impressive to look at that situation and know he would survive but also another part that shows how much faker influences whats happening.
and then the biggest reason where you have to question the other 4 without faker is when he was out obviously. it looked horrible, they had no identity. so really curious to see what happens if they split up
i think they are still s+ tier, i think faker out just shows how important shotcalling has become for proplay, like if we look at so called "superteams" almost always imploding, it is probably because of shotcalling with either no strong voice or multiple competing voices, and that is what t1 was without faker, great talents but no voice as guidance.
Pretty sure they are running it back. Go watch their teaser from today and tell me that isn't ZOFGK
(We can argue their 2017 too)
But you know what I mean, they have struggled in mixing, and trying and replacing their Top and Jungle -- and so when Zeus and Oner entered yes they were young but since the start of this roster Spring 2022 -- we have all seen their synergy is unmatched
And they have enough games and skills recognitions to their name that they can build their own legacy without Faker's name looming over them
Zeus is probably the most sought this off season.
Faker, who is not the #1 in overall KDA stats won:
- 4 Worlds
- 2 MSI
- 10 LCK title
Now if you really still hate the guy, I really don't know what to say.
Thank you for the podcasts during worlds! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to each and every one of them on Spotify
thanks for everything so far man
Thanks for this Video. Watching league esports since s3. You're a great person❤ I miss the old lcs...
Amazing podcast as always Jatt, please keep it going! And bring Dash back to the desk please!!
Really enjoyed all your coverage of this World Championship Jatt, what an awesome story and a fitting set of world champions at the end of it all.
Thank you for everything and for this podcast! And thank you to everyone that helped you with it!
I really enjoyed this, i always valued your analysis in league all these years.
Really hoping to see you doing these regular season again, some of my fave Lolesports content
Thank you! Love your podcast! Great quality.
Amazing series!! The production value is off the charts
edthank you Jatt for the fantastic content. I loved all your videos and you are a legend :)
T1 really had to smash through all the LPL teams - BLG, LNG, JDG, and finally WBG (although some might consider the JDG series to be the "real" finals) - absolutely insane stuff
Thanks for your podcast man, a real treat !
surprised you didn't mention the upset of the Golden Road. That series felt more hype than the finals for me
I’ve really been looking for a good lol esports podcast. This might be the perfect fit!
Love your podcasts. Love your takes and analysis. Looking forward to next year!
It's always exciting to listen to your analyses. Thanks!
Thank you Jatt for all of your work. We appreciate all of it. 😊
1:26 the hurdle just got even higher
really enjoyed this video! good thoughts, good analysis
I really liked your team fight breakdown !!! can you do it only once more for T1 JDG fight that Faker supercarried??
GJ jatt. Really enjoyed the content!
Cheers.
JATT ANALYTICAL GOAT LIKE FAKER IS THE GOAT OF LEAGUE.
I really hope Riot would do something for Faker next year. We want it grandiose af.
33:50 is it crown in ssg 2016 too? it should be 3-5 then?
4:38 deft is the only player still playing from the samsung teams
I'm interested to see how the new map changes and item changes affect the meta and gameplay next season. I hope t1 can adapt to it quickly.
Zeus label as a choker is a bit unfair given his age and there are stories that he was sick last year too. Sometimes people get really stuck on narratives.
I think that gold medal in asian games is huge for keria and zeus mental coz they finally win something and that end their 2nd place curse
So happy now that news is out confirming that T1 have all re-signed
JLXP was awesome again Jatt love the analysis and your perspective and personality!
SKT T1 had 3, now I want T1 to win 3 too.
T1 just confirmed that they are running it back.
First Time listening, enjoyed the whole episode, In my opinion Xiaohu is a top 3-5 greatest midlaner based on accolades. I would put Pawn #2
2018 not 2017.
production value matters.
If no one keeps up with offseason they all resigned and got kkoma as head coach and kept Tom for drafting
