Short Trailer for Ibiza Extravaganza- recorded in August 1997
After Two years of blood, sweat, tears and promoting to all the mainstream TV networks, this was the retail video show (Sponsored by Grolsch) that assisted me in obtaining Clubavision's first Network TV broadcast contract. Originally scheduled for Thirteen episodes, this was extended very quickly as the power of the show was felt over late night Network TV.
Remember the videos were only available at Virgin Megastores or via Subscription at the time of filming this show.
Pre- TV, many "Executives" told me, "CLUBavision will never work on Network TV", of course I disagreed and after 2 years of filming at clubs across the UK, shooting an Amsterdam special plus this Ibiza Extravaganza, all I may add with the support of Grolsch, the vibe and positive feedback from clubbers, promoters, DJ's and the record companies, in a word our viewership was immense. Even though the video series had a club format that had been seen before, it was the look and feel plus the inclusion of the clubbers Vox pops, dance charts etc that made it special, people wanted to see themselves and their friends on the screen whilst listening to the latest tunes sound tracking the visual action.
I must say at this point massive thanks to Ginny Till whose assistance helped enormously with the Grolsch partnership, Carol Groves, Head of Night time at ITV/ Granada for having the faith in me to produce a series like this for the Network, a series which was to become the most watched programme of its genre on late night, Bob Massie, Executive Producer at LWT whose help was always invaluable, and last but not least the two people on the team who were there at the very start, presenter Lisa Nash and the rock Sarah Callaghan. For those I haven't mentioned, a BIG thanks also, you know who you are!
