  • My FIRST YEAR as a New Driver | Lessons Learnt
    In this video I discuss how I've found the first 12 to 18 months as a new driver on the road. How driving my Mini One 1.4L has taught me to be a better driver and how I learnt lessons from other road users around me.
    I also talk about the costs of being a first year driver such as how much my insurance was as a teenager in the UK and how a black box has kept me safe and saved me money.
    Thanks for watching

    I just got my first job, which means i can afford driving lessons again after the first 5 that my dad and grandma gave me for my birthday, and i can finally afford a car. I’ve always wanted a mini ever since i was a kid and even more so after my mam had one. So i’m definitely looking at getting a mini one for my first car. I’m going to put the little toy dog she had on her dashboard in her memory. Excellent few videos you’ve done on this car by the way :)

      @@JosephiGoebbeli Honestly it's completely up to you man , I really like mine , the N14 Engines in the ones before 2011 isn't the most reliable thing in the world but I've had no issues and aslong as you treat the car well , it will treat you well.

      @@JosephiGoebbeli was £1750 with 90k on it, replaced the radiator, thermostat, coil packs and sparks. Then my mechanic found major rust on the subframe so it had to be scrapped. Didn’t see it on the day we bought it but it did me for a year so I’m not complaining. Loved it so much I’ve got another one now.

    • @TheAngusvlogs
      @TheAngusvlogs 3 года назад +1

      @@JosephiGoebbeli definitely but only if you have a buffer for issues, eg an extra wad of cash that can be used for repairs. Things likely to go are cooling system based eg radiator and thermostat. Make sure you take someone who knows what they’re looking for when buying it as well, and most importantly check the subframe for rust! At the end of the day if it’s your first car you’re gonna love whatever you have but nothing else drives quite like a mini.

    I just recently retired my first car which was a Mini Cooper 2006 Park Lane.
    Great car until the repair costs would of exceeded the value. I got it at 70K on the clock and ran it until 127500 so I did ok.
    Replaced it with a Cooper S Countryman 😀

    • @OllyT555
      @OllyT555  3 года назад

      It was simply a straight swap for the grill itself but the lower piece of black trim had to be cut to fit the front bumper as the Cooper S (from which the grill is from) has a different design

    nice video! how do you find the noise on the motorways? im looking at buying a 2007 1.4 mini one ( the same colour too lmao ) in the next few months, and have heard that it can be noisy on motorways? is it bearable on long motorway journeys? how have you find the noise ( road / tyre etc ) ?

    • @OllyT555
      @OllyT555  3 года назад +2

      I personally haven’t had a problem with noise on the motorway. Once I’ve got some music on it’s perfectly pleasant but it would also be fine with no music at all. I guess it would just be a case of personal preference

    What's the car itself been like?

  • @ghostlyfrog9521

    What's the fuel efficiency like? How much is a tank of fuel (approx) and how many miles out of that tank do you get? Mpg? Im looking for a cheap run around but needs to be economical..

    • @JosephiGoebbeli
      @JosephiGoebbeli 2 года назад

      when driving gently around town i get around 34-37mpg and when on the motorway you can get 40+mpg. a full tank will register as around 350miles, but actual mileage will depend on driving style. hope i could help!
