Wowww, It's been so long you wouldn't allow to comment anyone. Please don't do that. You are my Fav artist. I learnt about cinema more than any cinema class. Love from India ❤️
You guys have no idea how happy i am that we can comment. Ive watched you guys for so long and im so happy i have a little community to chat with now. This is amazing! All the best 🖤🖤🖤
Thank you for opening the comments. I feel like we have a nice little community of cinephiles here but we just haven't met each other yet lol. thanks for the amazing content as usual.
There's a cave in Spain where they found overlapping carvings. They had the idea to look at them by the light of a flame and were surprised to see them appear to move. There's a pretty interesting atlas obscura article on the subject.
Like everyone has said, Comments are here yay! So now I can say that this was such a fantastic video. I've been a lover of this channel for many years. You have really been the one that has helped me see cinema in a more detailed way that also made me want to be a filmmaker myself. Again thank you so much and keep making excellent work like this.
I’m soooooo glad I didn’t unsubscribe when you made “dying on the internet” video, I came to your channel late maybe 2 or so videos before you made your “last video” and I rewatched them once in awhile. So happy to see you back!! I haven’t even watched this new video yet just want to tell you I’m a big supporter.
Oh my god!!! Comments are back!!! Finally at last. I felt like its been a quiet time without the community speaking. I have always wanted to reach out you to bring comments back but i couldnt find anywhere else online to contact. But im glad you brought it back. Is it possible to bring back comments on older videos? If not, im still glad that these comments are back
awesome videos!!!! anybody here knows how that optical toy at 21:26 is called? i‘m a stopmotion animator and would love to do some oldschool stuff like that
The title of the first motion picture film is hotly contested and is often based on technicalities. Two other contenders, besides Sallie Gardner at a Gallop (1878), is Passage de Venus (1874) and Man Walking Around the Corner (1887).
Wow comments are on! I stopped watching your videos a while back just because the comments were off! Most of the reviews and analysis on this platform seem to be talking about how bad something is, essays about how bad the new supero hero movie is, why such film sucks, the rise and fall of whatever. Watching this channel is such a joy that we want to talk about it! None of my friends like to talk about art so please leave the comments on, forever!
The quality of the content and images is beyond question, all very professional and well done. But the moment you make a documentary you have to give the viewer breaks, you can't not break from one topic to another, maybe with music or just simple images. You can't hold the attention for 40 minutes without a moment of pause
Most substantive channel on this wretched platform......You are to be applauded for your conservatorship and furtherance of cinema. I've been introduced and have introduced others to more than a few film makers through your work.
I feel like I must comment something, now that we all can. My vision on cinema is divided in before and after The Cinematography that Changed Cinema, the first video that I watched from Cinema Cartography.
Consider disabling the comments. Let’s Just leave the Art(your videos) for art sake. Let’s not debate.. pass comments randomly. I really liked your idea of disabling the comments section for whatever reason it could be.
Can someone tell me the title of the music they often use for their videos? I'm referring to the music at the start of this video. Does someone know where it's from? Thanks a lot!
I just found ur channel it’s quickly become one of my favorites and given me a new found love of cinema as a art form. Consider doing an all time great Mexican film Amores Perros(2000)
thank you for turning the comments on! This has been my favorite channel about cinema and visual arts and I’ve been wanting to show my appreciation for your incredible work! some of these videos helped me develop a better understanding of films and film analysis, and discover new artists to enjoy. so again thank you for all your work 🤍
I think your work is not only super interesting and informative, but beautiful and an elevation of the medium. Thank you for giving us years of entertainment and thought provoking insights. P.S. please don't take away our comment privileges we promise to not abuse them.
The sole masters of Simplicity in the Video Essay Medium. So happy to have the ability to comment and express my deep admiration for your work, particularly for its life-changing quality. Your videos certainly changed my life and led me to seeing, understanding and appreciating the greatest films beyond their running time. Everything that you've produced is daring, profound and emotionally charging. I truly believe that the more ways we look at film, the more revelatory answers we will find, so keep up the excellent work. P.S. I doubt that there'll be any bad comments over here, so don't turn them off again, please!
Hey so I’d guess the comments are on now for needed feedback because these types of videos are less popular than your most watched content. Which is a smart move, I agree that comments shouldn’t have been on, on your previous videos because they would only take away from the video by becoming unsupervised context. However I would suggest a returning to no comments again. I would also suggest you divide these cinematheque videos into smaller parts and name them in accordingly. For example this video could be 3 or 4 separate videos about different eras of visual arts and while I see that the individual videos wouldn’t really be about cinema in particular, they would capture and entertain a bigger audience, and you would make your way to cinema eventually in the series. Anyway I’ve loved your videos since the beginning and I’ve seen everything, thank you for introducing me to great art❤.
The word "Photograph" came after Nicéphore Niépce's successful test. He called it the "Latent Image". Nicéphore dealt with a lens maker who also made lenses for Louis Daguerre (inventor of the Daguerreotype) & that lens maker connected the two inventors. Often people tend to age Photography from when the word was invented, off of memory I think it was in the 1830's when the word was invented. The concept of Photography is 195/198 years old but the word Photography is 180/185 years old. Also, there was other words used to explain a photograph throughout the 19th Century, like Sun Pictures/Sun Drawings/Sun Paintings/Sun Sculptures, Talbottype, Tintype, e.t.c. Keep up the great content.
This is such an amazing video and look into what lead to the development of cinema. All your videos are always such magical affairs and such valuable pieces of art themselves. So I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all the work you put into them.
DUDE! saw your Miyazaki humanity video, mannnnn AMAZING. Your takes are by far the best on that topic and director. I am sorry about the strike, but I have to say with all the vids on the topic yours was the best BY FAR. You've earned a big fan and supporter. Cheers.
It is so nice to finally be able to discuss and share opinions under your videos! Thank you for everything you've ever produced, you've been a costant beacon of culture on this platform!
The first time a video of your channel got recommended to me I thought about it for weeks, It felt like a new world of cinema had opened. A year later I was trying to find this hidden gem of a channel, and I found it, Every video blows me away, Thank you for making them.
I just wanted to thank you for all the inspiration, wonder and wisdom you have shared throughout the years. If you ever come to Chile, you'll have a place to stay ;)
