Meaning one guy will be 70 years old just to see the parole board and they can say no. If they keep saying no they will have to do time. Basically they can die in prison. If the judge said 25 to life then they would do 25 years then see the parole board but the board can turn them down. Just say you don't know.

New York needs stiff sentences like Louisiana has. A murder conviction down here gets you LIFE WITH NO PAROLE.
Here in NY it's very common you can get as little as 15,17 years for splitting someone wig , most times it's 25 and you be out in like 20
But then again, Louisiana is one of the most uneducated states in the US, and one of the most backwards places in the modern world.
Louisiana has one of the highest counts of murder in the United States and has been like that for a long time. Life without parole isn't working for them so why even suggest it.

50 is just the minimum amount they can serve. The sentence is 50-life. So that means the one sentenced to 50-life will be eligible for parole after serving 50 years.
In all likelihood he will serve life.

End time off for 'good behavior'---For anyone who thinks that will result in lighter sentences, juries recommend what they want served and that is what should be served.
