I disagree. Strong military is important, but if you make enemies of other countries, then your country will still have to stand on its own when war arrives. Forming allies with other nations, however, ensures mutual protection.

While allies are important, let us remember that the ranks of the Equestrian Guard failed TWICE in detecting enemy spies, that it failed to counter 2 powerful magic users (Tirek and Discord), failed to force out 2 enemy armies (The Changelings and the Stormking), and were unable to counter an infestation of VINES!
I'm sorry, but with all the instances of the Equestrian Military being that poor, I would think that some research or better tactics should be implemented. I mean, they *did* do that in an alternate timeline. (Though that was a total war situation.)

Also, Twilight, very selfish of you to have your friends teach at the school when most of them already have jobs of their own. I think this is the moment where the show OFFICIALLY jumped the shark.

Twilight could've just get somepony else to be new teachers instead of using her friends, since they already have jobs and lives of their own.
I'm Donald Drump and bling bling I'm the King No but still they have jobs and asking people who have jobs that require constant work(running multiple stores, farming and being apart of the equestrian equivalent of a jet show) is a stupid thing to ask and even if they agree their jobs would probably suffer. Nothing in the episode indicated she did from my knowledge but teaching is a job that’s hard and requires a lot of your time. Logically Rainbow wouldn’t be able to keep up the Wonderbolts if she was teaching at a school.

Then again, it makes sense that Neigh Say would come down harder on Twilight than on Cheerilee. His racism against the non-pony races sent him on a fishing expedition for excuses to revoke Twilight's school's accreditation. The real crux of the issue is he doesn't want a desegregated school.

I thought this would suck but they actually pulled it off. Great message about government overreach in schools and how educators should be given more flexibility. Racism covered as well. Once the Germans, Irish and English became friends in the new land, other friendships needed to be formed. I think I like the show because I wish we were more like Equestria. BTW, cannons in schools 👍.

my main problem with the episode was the fact they all said "everycreature" JUST SAY "EVERYONE". GOD DAMN IT HOW HARD IS IT TO SAY THAT?

I dont think the guy is supposed to be racist. i think it's more like a protection of the people and a hard to change mind. he's been doing the E.E.A thing for so long that it's practically ingrained into his mind and it would be hard for his mind to change. So here's my question.....when the new students run away, Princess Celestia tells Twilight "FIND the students, or there might be war between all the different creatures". BUT.....the students left their families a note stating that they didn't WANT to leave Twilight's school.....because THEY WANTED TO STAY TOGETHER. They weren't being held against their will. They weren't fighting. They had just formed a friendship between the 6 of them and they didn't wish to lose it. So wouldn't this PROVE that Twilight's FRIENDSHIP curriculum works? If her students (all of whom are different races) had become friends and they didn't want to lose that friendship?

The Chancellor reminded me of Snape so much! Also his voice actor also voiced The Brain from Animaniacs! His character made this episode all the better. Hope he returns later and he probably will. As you said this guy may be a racist and a huge insensitive jerk, but he wasn't completely wrong. The students did cause some destruction risking lives in the process. But it really was just an accident.
Also, all the teachers have no teacher's licences so there're not even allowed to teach without those. Also, Twilight is a princess and that means she's a ruler and Chancel er Neighsay can't shut down her school cause she's a princess.

You do know that some of that space is lodging, maybe a library, recreational spaces, a gymnasium, offices, archives, and other stuff, right?
And there's the synopsis of Episode 18 about a hidden portion of the school that the students find... So, while 5 teachers sounds kinda small, remember a school needs to contain other things. And if you say the school library isn't necessary because Twilight's castle next door has a library, it'd be a waste of time for students to walk to the castle, go up to the library, then look through the sections. Plus, the school probably needs to keep different books than a public library (maybe more what they keep out.)
Moliminous, you forgot one little sin: Are they teaching the elements of harmony/ friendship or are they teaching their Cutie Marks because from the looks of it Fluttershy is teaching the class about animals, not kindness.
Also, don't you come school just to make friends.... Why would there be a need to for a school of friendship. I understand they need to teach friendship to all creatures but as I mentioned, they didn't teach the elements and the young six became friends anyway. Just saying it's redundant.

Yeah, the general idea is that if Celestia lords over people and kingdoms using her power of the sun and god-like magic she'll be no better than Sombra, Tirek, Nightmare Moon, and Discord.

Also I like Applejack's lessons. First is why apples are the best fruit and second is about kicking apples. That should help students with understanding friendship.
Generally, this episode is about racism and how to evade the law. Every school in Equestria needs to obey the rules of EEA, but Twilight can say it's not officially school, but for example "Place for integration of different species", where they have classes with Mane 6 (but they're not teachers).
There is one thing Twilight Sparkle and Chancellor Neighsay both have in common: they have the power of speed-reading!

She mentioned in the episode that stairs amazed her because living under water all of her life meant that she never had to use them in the traditional way, sea ponies just float up the stairs. Hippocampus don't have legs either so walking seems like a newer fascination for her.

I hope they don't bring the chancellor back as a villain. I just see him as a weathered old veteran who cares about his country and allows that to cloud his judgement. It's natural to be proud of your people but these days "nationalism" is seen as a dirty word just because one group partially defined themselves as such and committed genocide. Which of course is horrible but at the same time keep in mind that any idea can be corrupted with the wrong person in charge. Take Starlight and Equality for example.

Are you really surprised by the school? We've seen them build a barn in an afernoon before, we've seen a castle grow from a seed, we've seen ponies literally create winter and we have seen some terraforming work be done before. Why is it so hard to think that in say a month they've build a school and terraformed some land around it?
May be they don't need long time and money to build a school. They just need increase entropy in right way. I mean, they have Discord, even they want to build a lake full of sulfur and fire in their palyground, he could done it in seconds.

I do find it interesting that the Supreme monarchy of equestria, while still needing to adhere to an education council in terms of their pet projects, should still be rulers that the chancellor should not have any power over.
