I'm wondering how fluttershy surpassed Pinkie's skills at teleporting. The rest of mane 6 must have been watching her get fired 3 times in a row.

Fluttershy seemed much less, well, shy in this episode. Sure it's the same general concept, but she definitely seems different... In a good way.

8:55 I actually think Fluttershy has the most character development. In most episodes, she's quite bold, and only in the occasional episode does she regress to the same old Fluttershy that has to learn the same lesson or the millionth time. It's mostly been good since Season 4.

Honestly, I don't understand why so many people say that Fluttershy has no character development, At first, she couldn't even assert herself against Angle Bunny and now she agrees to run Rarity's shop.
There is a difference between being shy and being a pushover and Fluttershy really made big progress (each episode more) in gaining more self-confidence.
She definitely has character development, but I guess what most people are irked about is that almost all her episodes revolve around her conquering her shyness, which is kind of repetitive and makes it seem as though she never learns her lesson.
That’s gotten a lot better in recent seasons though.
Pretty sure a fan wrote this episode and... But hey fake til they make it.

There is no indication of how much time has passed so you ASSUME it is the same day but most of the time with this show we are shown changes in location or changes between day and night. We are to only know it took as however long or fast it take to change from location to location.

To me, this episode seems to do everything right where Putting Your Hoof Down went wrong. Fluttershy wasn’t unbearably mean and the consequences of her actions weren’t blamed on somebody else. Also, no I don’t think she’s has learned the same lesson again. This episode wasn’t even about overcoming shyness.

When Rarity says "Clothes makes the pony", should have added the clip from the Season 1 episode "Best Night Ever", where Applejack says "We don't normally wear clothes."
I'm honestly surprised that they went with Fluttershy being a bad designer/knitter. It was addressed multiple times that she at least had the basic idea of fashion and she even made Rarity's dress for the first Galloping Gala. Without it the "lesson" of the episode felt insincere and weak - be confident about things you're not even sure are true? I'd make much more sense if Rarity entrusted the shop to Fluttershy because she knows about fashion and already proved that she has confidence to talk about it to others (and the pressure of the big city just was to much for her and she became this rude mess). That's my take on it. Goth Fluttershy is best Fluttershy btw.
People say Fluttershy has 'learned the same lesson over and over' but thats not the case... For example standing up for friends is different than being able to stand up for yourself... And standing up TO your friends is far harder than standing up for them. You can't paint these lessons with such brod strokes, its like saying magenta, hot pink and peach are all the exact same color.
You know I know I should apply actual physics to a show about magic ponies but with the amount of gold that gets exchanges left to right one must ask, what kind of super nova, neutron star mombo jombo happened to their planet that made them rich with gold, thats quite a heavy element, its actually quite facinating. ^-^

I'm mixed about this episode but I think I'm leaning to the positive side. On one hand Fluttershy steps out of character, but on the other, those Fluttershy personas are really entertaining. Bonus sins: it's not just the suit guy who has come back multiple times. Heck, at least three of the customers should have left long before Fluttershy had the chance to offend them. Also, do only like five ponies shop at that boutique. We've seen only a handful of ponies all episode. Also, also, when did Rarity expand her market to include stallions? Not once has she ever been seen selling stallion clothing until now.

I tend to disagree. When Twilight got her wings they appeared in the next issue. When the CMC got their marks, once again the next issue featuring them had those awful shields on their butts. Even Starlight Glimmer suddenly appeared for absolutely no reason and has not been used much in the comic that I can remember.
So the IDW writers and artists do try to keep the comics as close to canon as possible but there are small details that differ. So it's up for interpretation whether part of the show canon or an alternate universe.
