I had to go out and self teach myself the essentials and fundamentals again. Which took about an extra 2 years on top of my 2-3 year degree. Mo-cap may replace their physical presence, but who will put the emotion and heart to the characters? It's hard to convey non-heartfelt emotions, especially when it's melodramatic. Try acting yourself and tell me if it's hard or not.

Honestly, complain about the overuse of CGI all you want, but practically no one realised the suits were CGI until they revealed they were. They've pretty much perfected photorealistic full suits now.
I noticed the CGI suits when I first watched it in the theaters. Sure it's close to perfect but there's still something that makes it look "fake". Nonetheless, this is some of the best CGI I've ever seen

The suits were in a lot of scenes so it makes sense that if the design wasn’t finalized they would go this route. Also agree with you that the cost to add them in during post production would be significant. At least it was in the past maybe not so much nowadays?
@@jbonegw It just seems strange to shoot a portion of the movie without designing the costumes first. I can understand fixing something in post if you realize too late in the game that something doesn't work but in this case, apparently, they just didn't bother to get it for real.

Finding out that the time travel suits weren’t even real was mind-blowing. I had of course assumed that the helmets obviously weren’t. But the suits?! To me that’s one of the most amazing uses of invisible effects in this movie that, ironically, highly visible yet beautiful effects
So basically they dont need humans to act in a film. All the work is done by the best CGI Masters! Respect to these guys. They are underrated. The face are the actors but actually the real heroes are behind the monitors.
It will definitely win the oscar for best visual effects especially after having financially surpassed both Titanic and Avatar, both of which won that Oscar.
That wide shot of Asgard is just environment gold. That's just beautiful. And the entire hangar?! The suits?! I honestly don't care about the budget. It's still crazy how far tech has come that artists can fool people this hardcore. Idk if the hangar being fully CG was just that one shot but even so, even if for that one shot...that's insane. It was just their heads. There heads were real and everything else was CG. Damn, son.
Wow. I'm very impressed that there was CG in places I never expected. It was perfectly seamless, and I would have never thought it wasn't real. Not exactly sure why they needed to create CG suits, but it was perfectly done. Great, great work.
Imagine this. Soon everyone is gonna be a voice actor, as CGI is the only thing being necessary to make a movie, while props and other stuff is there to testify and try out realistic interactions, etc. But when the time comes, soon everyone has enough sounds and everything to just put it in, change and tweak it online or on some program and BOOM, CGI movie only.
My friend works in this company. Hes very private about the CGI he does for movies. He tells me which movies he worked on but not the scenes. Now I see the magic behind his stuff. Cool!
Only complaint is that the nano-helmets don't change the lighting on the actors' faces, you can tell something isn't quite right. You'd never notice it in the theater though, only when watching a slowmo breakdown.
I've been saying for a long time that the problem with CGI VFX is rarely photorealism anymore, that's achievable, instead the real problem that so often that exposes it as fake is actually the animation, and that we can only go so far before we'd have to bring in some manner of machine learning to provide that extra finesse to reach believabilty. I'm glad to see I'm no longer alone in thinking this.
It annoys me so much man. I used to look forward to those bonus features so much and now to get the same content I have to rifle through a thousand different youtube channels.
This bugs me so much. I feel like these movies are so successful and so well liked, they could easily have released behind the scenes footage like the Lord of the Rings extended editions.

im so confused on the "awesome walk" scene (1:44). They are all wearing their normal costumes, with some tracking markers attached. Why use the hard-to-track-and-rotoscope costumes instead of a specialised mocap suit, like what hawkeye is wearing at 1:19?
Even watching this at 0.25% you still need to watch it a few times, you see new things each time.....gotta love all who worked on this and infinity, their skills are awesome...well done to you all. 🏆👍🏼😊🍻
For all the noobs who ask why they didn't get real suits made for then when filming instead of cgi it's the designs hadn't been made by the time of filming. And no they couldn't wait for the designs before filming because these big movies are under hard strain and pressure to film because of the multiple cgi, audio, and other work that needs to be given a good year to work on. Keep in mind filming movies take a good 3 months and a ton of work is still left to do after that.

@Tony Toons First, the CGI suits look incredibly realistic so it all worked out in the end. Second, they couldn't wait a year because that would've wore out the effect Infinity War had on people, which wouldn't have made the movie that high-stakes and exciting.
This vis effect team did such a great job! I don't see why the directors and VFX supervisor saw it necessary to CGI the whole suits though lol, but this team made it work!

That's for character artists, they need to know anatomy and basically how to human body works how it reacts to light and how the muscular works, there are different kind of artists, those who specialize in effects like smokes and fire and stuff and others on physics and so on
@@steflinga It makes sense that certain artists with certain specializations would need to know about biology, anatomy, how the human body works, how it reacts to light and how the musculature works and so on. Most comic book artists, illustrators, animators and painters know about anatomy so I would expect a VFX artist who is working on a humanoid character or an anthropomorphic character to understand anatomy.
How exactly did they use red dots reference on 1:45 for the suits? It’s not a motion capture. But for what is it? For easy key-animation or for 3d-tracking?
If you notice they are wearing alternative outfits underneath it’s possible that for this shot they weren’t originally gonna use the final white and red suits. So CGI artists had to animate this themselves. The red dots were probably some type of basic tracking data just incase they changed their mind about the outfits and they did.
0:52 There's something still missing to Rocket Raccoon - his lip movement looks too soft/slow and doesn't match 100% the voice, and also he lacks some depth - his light composition is not strong/shadowy enough.

I wished the suits were real but damn, the attention to detail in their 3D models is... beyond incredible. Wonder what kind of computers could render that stuff considering the limited time they had to make the movie.

I knew the QR suits were CGI but I figured at least the boots were real. The crease detail is superb.
