Just did that last week. Changed my chainring to 1by and from 118 bb to 110 bb it works perfectly. 👍
The limitig Factor ist the space between the crank arm an the chain stay. make sure there is enough space before you bring the cranks closer together. To make the chain run as straight as posible is always a good idea. nice job!

And then you should readjust the front derailleur
any advice on how to measure proper bottom bracket size?
Why don’t you use grease on a crankset?
