Haha totally agree it would be a sobering experience if you weren’t drinking 😂 I think I’d be maxing out my 15 drinks a day just to cope. Let’s all now pause for a moment in respect for that poor crew…
You wonder whether the crew can leverage a contract on this ship against where they spend the next one.... "I'll do the 3/4 night party ship but you need to give me the South Pacific for the next one..."
Hello!!!! You did a great job - weird Brit with an Esta???? What are you doing here??? I've always thought that was a slightly odd job - a skilled job that gets really busy, but only for 3 or 4 hours? Two or three times a week? Not something you can do as a career I suppose? But I guess its mostly weekend work so you can dovetail it with a more normal job during the week??? Or even with studies?
@@MattsOceansHello! I just happened to be scrolling through RUclips and stumbled across this video and recognized it as my terminal so I figured I’d watch it (not expecting to see myself). It does get pretty busy through the main hours and as agents we do different jobs inside the terminal everyday. At the moment I’m in college studying and training to become a Fire Fighter, so I work this job Friday - Monday so anytime there’s a cruise those days, I work. 👍
Thanks for the video! I remember the Victory, I'm gonna give the Radiance a chance… It's convenient. It's not the Jones Act, it's the Passenger Vessel Services Act of 1886. Same theory as the Jones Act, but the Jones Act refers to cargo and foreign flagged ships.
Brilliant Video Matt. I love the fact they have a show to celebrate the Military, the sense of National Pride in the USA and in Israel are something sadly lacking here in the UK. I remember as a child at a saturday matinee or saturday morning show at the pictures singing the national anthem and getting a right telling off by the ushers is we misbehaved for that. I'm the same age as you, but grew up on UK military bases, maybe that's why I love this sort of thing. The drinks package looks like good value if the individual drinks are $12 or so. Looking forward to seeing more of these videos.
Thanks - I went to the appreciation event as I expected it would be very, very different from anything you'd get in the UK... I was actually surprised at how lightly attended it was.... And yes, the drinks package was decent value - which is possible as nothing available on the ship was outlandishly expensive for Carnival to procure, especially tax free....
Thanks for the video - enjoyed it a lot! A very different thing, but reminds me of the party boats DFDS does between Hull/Newcastle and Amsterdam, which have similar levels of boozing.
Hey, Matt? If you ever find yourself in my part of the world again (I’m from San Diego, about an hour plus south of Long Beach), you might want to try heading about five minutes west of Long Beach to the Port of Los Angeles at San Pedro and try the same itinerary on a much nicer ship, RCL’s Navigator of the Seas (which is about the same age actually, but much nicer looking) and it’s surprisingly inexpensive also (well under a thousand dollars for my wife and I)
Thanks - I lived in San Diego (Carlsbad actually) for 6 years so I know the area well... Wasn't so many cruise options back then.... I would love to do another SoCal cruise - did actually look at a Norwegian cruise from San Pedro to Vancouver.... Living in the UK I would need to build a trip to and from the West Coast to make it all worthwhile. Cheers!
a cruise on carnival erm its a no from me ... we are avid cruisers and go most years we go again in feb 2025 we fly to miami as i told your TWIN brother on his page but thanks for another great video !! keep safe and in good health
Good lord! I don't recall but it would have been 4 or 5... Lots of bends, quite a few people not paying attention and the occasional drunkard passed out on the track to leap over, so not perhaps the quality of track you're used to!!!!
A duck! (Was it sober after its drinks package? Too many quacktails? I'll get my coat...) I've never cruised Carnival, and it was interesting to hear about the pros and cons. Not sure I'm brave enough to follow you, but it sounds a creative approach to a spare weekend.
(I am giving a standing ovation as I type this - quacktails is brilliant....) There are worse ways (and far more expensive ways) to pass a weekend in Southern California....
Sorry....As I see it, a 3 night cruise is really only a TWO day cruise. The part days at beginning and end are just for boarding and disembarking. Nothing else.
Very entertaining video, Matt - but that's not a cruise for me! In an all-inclusive hotel I can get up to 8 drinks before Catholic guilt kicks in. I know, I know: lightweight!
I need to be braver ... actually maybe I don't!! Thanks for posting Matt.
Ha ha! There's brave but some might say this was foolish!

@@MattsOceans maybe the cruise director has just lost his marbles completely. He doesn’t know WHERE he is, so that could be the company strategy.
You are a brave man - that looks the epitome of hell to me!
I do these things so you don't have to!!!
Thanks for taking one for the team. I have to admit it looks terrible but enjoyed your video.
It wasn't that bad!!!!
Hey that’s me! I checked you in at 1:50. Hope you enjoyed your cruise 🤘

Great video, Matt. Good to see you paid and weren't 'sponsored'!
No sponsorships here!
You did well to survive this, Matt! I did laugh a lot - thank you. Also, 1971 - great year to be born :)
As was 1969, for the record (only mentioning it because today is my 55th birthday!)
Happy birthday!!!
I did still enjoy it! This was a fun video to make....
@@edvaira6891 happy birthday! Beautiful day for it here. Mine is in December so usually pretty dire weather…
Look forward to the food review!
Nice to see another cruise video Matt
Thanks mate

What can one say, Bacchus appears to outrank Poseidon on this cruise😂🥂🍾🥂🍻😎🇿🇦
Nothing beats a classical education!!! Indeed - Bacchus was well represented....
Horror. Carnival 3 day? Not in this lifetime....but thanks for the vid!
The sociologist in me loved it!
Im going on this cruise in 5 days. Prayerfully its not bad.
Looks a bit busy for my liking - but it's certainly good value! 🍹
1000 fewer, or even 500 fewer passengers would have been calmer!!!
Im going on this cruise soon. 5 days

Cheers - I think Carnival's longer cruises are more traditional, although they will always try to be at the party end of the scale
i see a running track at 0:10 , how many laps to a mile?
(I have a one track mind)

Never get to engage or know the passengers? I assume you know the Radiance also sails a 14 day Hawaii cruise? Plenty of time to engage.
Does it??? I thought it was year round in SoCal....
@@MattsOceans I'll be on it December 1st, second cruise on a b2b
Apologies if this was asked a million times; what camera do you use for your videos?
Most is shot with a DJI Osmo Action 4. Some with a Sony ZV1 and in an emergency I use my Google Pixel 8 phone
