Thank you for watching.
If you are at all OCD then getting your watch restored back to factory condition will only reset the fear of damaging it during wearing. Just strap your watches on and enjoy them as they were intended to be enjoyed. I’ve got an expensive carbon bike that I was very careful with at the beginning. Now it’s marked up I just throw it about and enjoy it to the full. Life is very short guys just relax and take it easy.
I can atest to this. After having been quoted 4500CHF for a service (which I refused) by Rolex and having paid "only" 1800CHF for "no waterproof guarantee" by factory, I felt gutted wearing it. Took it off and never put it back on. Sometimes I wear swatch automatic nowdays...
Yep
This guy gets life 👆🏻
Getting it restored back to new is more about getting a new watch. It was a pre owned watch so it is not new.
I bought a classic Porsche and had it restored back to near new because it was an older car.
@@bighands69 a polished old watch is like a new watch, just less well defined.
Im glad I can be part of this different world at least through the screen of my laptop, well done my man, well done..
Marek Musil feel you bro
Another great video! Still want to see the super secret watch that started it all!
I’ve not gotten my first Rolex (bought late 90s) serviced since the early 2000s and it’s still running fantastically. Although the hands no longer illuminate in the dark, I am amazed by the quality of these watches. Rolex provides an unparalleled experience.
Such a waste I feel, to track down those watches in that condition and spend that money and time to find an untouched Neo vintage piece, then ruin it with a polish.
yeah exactly
Was thinking same. Replaced bracelet, bezel and crystal. The daytona has lost all sharpness and crispness of lugs due to polish.Destroyed complete vintage value.
Not a waste at all.
The point of buying some watches second hand is not to keep them as a second hand watch. Getting the made like new again is not a waste of time at all.
Not everybody wants to wear a watch with some other persons stains, scratches and grime build up.
Maybe that floats your boat but not everybody wants that.
Very intresting to know the process of having your rolex serviced and the tips on keeping the original parts, as some customers wouldn't think of that and find the watches value decreased on return from service centre well done sir.
I wish Rolex let you keep the original parts they replace, but they do not. I would love to get my bracelet replaced (I replaced broken spring bars), but want the original too.
@@TheSchmed maybe try sending it in without a bracelet
My thought on 4:03 oh come on hurry up don’t lose the black Mercedes
Lmao i thought same
Love it, happy to see someone who still services at Rolex while still knowing their watches worth, too many people are afraid to use them for fear of ruining their resale value.
You are an amazing reviewer and the best part is the patiance that you have.
Can you make a video on how you change the bezels??
Oh boy, I'm curious to see your car collection :P
If i remember it correct, he once said that getting a new watch is better than getting delivery of a new car. So, i really doubt if he has a collection.
High end cars are completely wasted in London

Or anywhere in the world due to speed limits, bad roads, traffic.
Cars are hunk of junk

I subscribe to over 50 watch-related channels and I consider your channel to be the Patek of all of them. This video was truly exceptional on so many levels. So so good. Keep the content coming!!! Thanks 🙏🏻

Thank you for sharing your experience. I got my first Rolex about 18 months ago, and although it won't be needing a service for many more years, I was always worried that decisions around the service would be out of my control (replacing original dial, hands, polishing the watch etc.). It has quite a lot of sentimental value and I would be very upset if my watch came back looking like new - as if every memory that made my watch unique to me had been wiped away. It is very reassuring to see that the customer can choose what is and isn't done. Thanks again 😎
My friend is a current certified Rolex watchmaker and advised me to not service a watch unless it's acting up. He said if it isn't broken dont open it. He also advised that the movement service would be approximately the same cost whether it was running out of spec or not. He said he'd service it if I insisted be strongly recommends waiting until there was real reason to perform a service, not because its reached the service interval. Thanks for documenting the service process. Great video. Cheers
Great informative vid but there's one question unanswered that I have and that is: Do you actually get your old "damaged" bezel, bezel insert & clasp, crown etc back or does Rolex just keep them?
Vavazelus Good to know, thanks for your information😊
Great to experience your experience! Thanks.. third best experience, having someone else share their experience. 👍😎
Awesome video with very helpful and entertaining content 👍🏽 Keep it up mate... all the best from Yorkshire 🏴
This mans service costs more than my whole collection
His trip to scotland to pick watch costs more than mine
Great video thank you. I do have one Question tho.. You got a new Bracelet which looks great... But when you have it serviced and order a new one do you get to keep the Original One.?
hello can you give opinion oh saphire hublots what do you think about them i m really interested in buying one what is your opinion on the prices for them
I used to own a Submariner and used it for SCUBA diving. The crown gaskets needed replacement after only four years.
If you use it in salt water the advice of watchmakers is to get them pressure tested and of course the gaskets will need replacing sooner. Perfectly normal to need that after 4 years.
Enjoy the passion all you guys/ girls have. It's a crazy world out there and it's nice to find some normalcy, peace, refuge in something! What ever it is, love what you do!🤙❤️
I would be interested to know what other watches you have in your collection. are they all high end or do you appreciate lesser brands.
I found the bracelet replacement interesting, I have a OP from my birth year and the bracelet is showing wear but the watch means so much to me I don’t know if I could change it.
I have just received back my bi-metal OP which I bought new in 1969 and it is perfect, running and looking like new. I am more than happy with the Rolex service, it cost exactly the estimate. Pricey? Perhaps, but there is no feeling like it, knowing it has been done by Rolex, so worth every penny, I hope it will stay and continue to perform for the next 50 years for one of my family. I have no doubt it will do so. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Excellent content. Keep up the good work. Wear your pieces in good health. Regards.
so when you bought the two watches mentioned here....what did you pay for them privately? and how did you find the sellers?
Hi LWC, as a Rolex owner, I hope that you read my comment and maybe can give me some answers. Recently, the clasp of my 126231 “touches” the bracelet before it can fully closed. Are your Rolexes do the same things or there is a problem with my clasp ? Thanks for reading
Wouldn't it been better to keep the bezel, glass and pushers of the Daytona original?
Also did you get the original GMT bracelet back or rolex kept it? I would insist on getting the original part back
great video! thanks for sharing your experience!
Do they upgraded the green luminosity to the new blue one, for free!? And was it without request just automatically?? Thanks
I have a 16220 that I bought 29 years ago. It went to the local AD. Test showed it was 1second per day. I have never had it serviced I did have it sent to a watch maker that fixed the stretch taken out of jubilee bracelet for 150 bucks. Best money I ever spent.
Great video, I love watches, but like my cars, can't stomach watching them get damaged, so I don't think I can ever own a Rolex, I wouldn't let myself enjoy it and I only buy used cars for that reason too. This video also serves a purpose for the many people that buy Rolex watches but really can't afford them. They should also be aware that buying it is just the beginning and you have to service them which comes with a pricey price tag. Having said all that I love living vicariously through you. Thanks for sharing these great videos and your love of watches.
I enjoy the sights of London....great travel photos.
I've been waiting to be blessed by your videos
Thanks for the informative video. Yet to send mine for a service but not for a while as it was only purchased in 2018.
Good morning
Hope you and your family are all keeping well. I always enjoy watching and listening to your vlogs very interesting and you always go into great. Detail and give genuine honest advice and information. It would be so nice if you could give a volg on your car collection..i will look forward to watching your next episode take care and most importantly be kind to your self have a lovely weekend God bless you kind regards Karl
You did not mention, but I trust you were able to keep your original bracelet. In my situation it wasn’t a given; I had to have that okayed by the RSC Manager. Do you go back to the RSC each time to have your bezels switched? Finally, I have the same black dial Daytona, with the thin hands, aesthetically beautiful but the hardest of all my Rolexes to read the time. Best regards.
There's so much to learn about what you're passionate about. Thank you.
superb video.. love watching. thx for sharing your experiences and watches.
Today is my birthday! Thank you for uploading a new video!
Happy Birthday buddy!
Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't polishing lower the value?
koko d yes it does
Great video. Two things can affect value on vintage or neovintage Rolex: 1. Swapping original dial/hands 2. Polishing the case. Most collectors will advise against polishing-fyi...
5:07 I also own a blue dial Sky-Dweller, but I don't own a Moncler jacket. Off to order one now!
I have Moncler jacket size s brand new if you’re interest 😂
My everyday Rolex is an Explorer 39mm mk1 which I much enjoy wearing. One day a couple of years ago I was invited to a flash do so it was time to put the Submariner 116610LN on my wrist. In my haste I put the Explorer in my denim jacket, whilst away unfortunaly the jacket was swept up and put in the washing machine. On my return the Explorer, with the winder unfortunately out, was not looking too good and in dire need of the RSC. Of the list of new parts I had the choice of the Mk1 dial and hands or the new dial and longer hands of the Mk2. Decision time for sure. As I do go walking in the hills I thought that the lumious 3-6-9 digits might be an advantage and also more like the very original Explorer model, so I went for the Mk2 dial and hands. I now realise that could have been a mistake but have I? With the newer smaller Explorer the 39mm Mk2 might be the rarer! But my Explorer will be a hybrid! The total cost was about £1350 which was I thought not unreasonable. It was like a new watch and I was so pleased!
Thanks for the video. Do you change the LN yourself from the different colours on the bezel? And can you always get all three colour bezels from Rolex?
Exactly the video i was looking for. Exactly what’s involved when you get your Rolex serviced! Good video 👍🏻
i would like to know if i send my Rolex kermit flat4 , the bezel is slightly scratched are they going to replace it with the same flat 4 bezel or they will put a new ceramic one ?
Beautiful, classy pieces I love vintage and neo vintage Rolex models. Informative video, well shot and narrated.
Hello! Do you use watch winder? Can you make a video about your opinion?!
You had the urge to send them for a service- well why not your super loaded🤣
with a watch that could go without a service for 20 years +
I'm assuming with the extra grand for the new bracelet you didn't receive the original back as a spare?
Hi , may I ask , do you get the original parts back (bezel, clasp etc ) or do Rolex keep them , which I feel would be unacceptable for them to do !
did they give back your original bracelate?
Can you do a review of the 2018 onwards seamaster 300m? It can be had for under £3500 that makes it one of the few luxury swiss watches that is in reach for a lot of people.
Be nice to see your opinion on it and how it compares to other divers.
It’s crazy if you think about it. Not only is Rolex producing ~1 Million Watches per year, Rolex also has to manufacture parts of every era for the serviced watches. That‘s amazing! 👍 Thank you for the video.
Do you know if Tudor is 10years as well? I assume they would use the same lubricants. I have a North Flag, it has taken a beating! Its only 18 months old! I will no doubt have a new bracelet when I get it serviced as well. I had planned on waiting 3 years as I did hear Tudor was around three 3 but it's hard to find any decent information.
Really liked how you placed each watch with its corresponding book. Beautiful collection.
I recently had my gmt master 2 serviced by Rolex I ignored all the recommended extras and paid £600 Barr a few quid , came back like new
So did you get rid of the Coca Cola bezel? Did they return the original bezel back to you
I agree, LWC. The pre-ceramic GMTs are awesome. I love ceramix Rolexes, but the heaviness of them is sometimes annoying. Also, when are you going to be on Talking Watches? Your collection merits an appearance.
If you bought a new Rolex from a shop is it possible to refund it back?
So nice waking upon Saturday and watch your new video, thx! Do you change the bezel color yourself?
Great video and gives a good insight. What i like is that Rolex sends you an offer with the different repairs and costs. If I recall it correct in the netherlands you bring your watch to the service center and you give them approval for doing repairs untill a certain amount without contacting you. Is this still the case of has it changed since 2014?
My experience at a Dutch AD are exactly the same as shown in this video. They do what you ask them to do. As simple as that.
I have a Seiko on my wrist. A simple one - Solar movement. I enjoy your content.
Nice watch roll!! Love the Kermit!
A big salute from Sweden!
Very much looking forward to the London RSC opening again. They were extremely helpful when I went last year. My 16710 needs it’s first polish in its 14 year life and they are the only people I would trust. You get to speak to the technician who will look after you watch directly and build a relationship. Great video LWC 👏
a new bezel insert for £31 seems very cheap - am i missing something?
also, what happens with the old, original, bracelet that they replaced?
The background music of LWC is the best every. Please never change it!
Interesting that your preference is to have it polished. Most collectors do not like their watches polished to preserve the original shape of the case.
When you got the gmt service you can request for any bezel? Was confused because you bought it with all black bezel.
Only on older 167.. models
Another fantastic video. You come across as a really down to earth hardworking individual. Wear them both in good health sir.
I'm glad you made Rolex switch the crystal with the crown and not with an S which means its replaced
Does anyone know where I could buy dials and bezel inserts? I have Rolex Submariner Non Date ( 114060 ) 2014, if anyone can point me in the right direction would be appreciated, Thanks
Your Daytona looks so good, so clean.
Wow! So the RSC let you keep the bezel inserts?
How do you change the bezel insert on your GMT masters? Do you do it yourself? If so can you do a video on it?
Yes will do for sure
@londonwatchcollector Did you take any steps after purchasing them to ensure Rolex identifies you as the owner?
You sound like the most down to earth - have a beer with guy in the watch scene. Thanks for making these great videos. I enjoy your channel immensely and appreciate the work you put into this. And congrats on the beautiful watches. The Patek is absolutely stunning. My grail as well! Best of luck to you.
Great video. To me, it looks like there's a few scratches on the GMT already. Personally I wouldn't mind a few scratches but why go for the new bracelet if it scratches so easily?
But the RSC is a rip off. I had an 18kt bezel replaced for $1408 (more than the spot price of gold for the weight)...supposedly they do parts replacement on a trade-in bases but wouldn’t disclose the trad-in value and when I asked to get my old bezel returned they said no.
so they didn't give you the blue red bezel insert?
once again, a perfect video, with an excellent education and photography, the collection, second to none, hopefully someday I can
Great video very interesting on the whole experience thanks LWC
What precautions did you taken with your Aquanaut in Brazil?
could i ask how you sourced the coke bezel insert? were you able to buy it straight from RSC or did you have to go through an AD?
RSC or AD will sell you an insert as long as you can prove you have a watch to go with it.
Would be interesting to know what exactly they thought was erong with the dial? Looks ok to me - to read the word ’deteriorated’ and ‘replaced at owners risk’ makes it sound positively knackered and in some way liable to cause serious damage to he watch. I do feel there is a little bit of over reaction here with RSC wanting to replace everything just for the minutest fault - if there is actually a fault at all?
Did they return the old parts that got replaced? Sorry if I missed it in the video.
no they dont do that
There are a few videos circulating the internet that Rolex are trying to change so many parts on watches when they are in for a service so they drop in value as they are no longer original parts etc.
What do you do to be able to purchase these amazing watches
Hello,
Hope you can answer...Does Rolex give the customer's old parts back after the service?
Robert Porchia no
Can you do a video on the Milgauss? I am thinking of getting one, but not sure :(
Well let me start first the winding pin came out it went to goldsmiths for repair who sent the Rolex gold day date to Rolex who in turn said it needed extensive parts to many to bore you with to repair and would take six to eight weeks to repair after ten weeks of no communication I called goldsmiths only to be told they are waiting for the parts and no idea when they will be in oh I forgot to mention they informed me that it also needed a new bracelet at the cost of £16000 exchange at present I am still waiting ??? Would I recommend Rolex what do you think
11:15 New Bezel Insert was only £31 ? I thought maybe £200-£300, as I see on Chrono24. My GMT Master II (Coke 2002) is due for service, and my bezel insert has a scratch, and was thinking it would coast me $350 to replace.
When you change bezel inserts on your GMT, do you switch to a different bezel or switch the inserts in the same bezel? If so, how do you do this safely? Many thanks, love the channel.
What do you recommend to buy for invest/joy for minimum 5 years with intention to resell it.
1. Rolex Daytona 116519 (2010) white gold/ white dial. No papers $17k
2. AP Royal Oak 26120.BA 39mm (2014) yellow gold/ white dial. No papers $19k
Thank you
Thank you for that video , it’s good to know information and experiences when using the service centre
When you option a new bracelet, do they provide the old bracelet to you? Or do they keep it?
Yes you keep the old one
London Watch Collector
Did they polish the case? I am not sure if you mentioned clearly that you opted to have you case polished. Thanks
London Watch Collector Didnt expect that, nice!
Interesting channel and videos. What you do for a job? I personally would never give my rolex to them for service, I dont like the way they do business. I like your channel and videos btw.
