Hearing TotalBiscuit's voice again hit me hard ngl.
That said, the state of this game in terms of it being horrible means it could have been launched this year, and we'd never know the difference.
It took me a second to realize that was him. RIP to a legend.
When?
@@mrwillard95 that's your opinion. No one asked.
I bought a copy of this for myself and my friend around launch day, it was one of the first games to teach me that not all games turn out well lmao. I think it was one of my first steam reviews I did lol I remember the keybind for my reload just stopped working by itself and I had to open the console to type reload… :D
Same, it was my first steam review and I just wrote ‘this game is ass’ after putting about 35 hours in to it.
The game to play when you wanna appreciate Ground Branch again
LMAO
@@descree7 yes it is
@@ugglass7277 barely. I returned GB because of the lack of good ai its quite terrible really. Games pretty cool but mostly a dress-up sim
@@crezzyt even as a dress up sim, it's one of the best:) I've spent a lot of hours just trying different gun set ups
I hate that the AI reminds me of Ready or Not with the ridiculous aimbot.
We tried. Was an honor getting 360 no scoped from 100 meters by all-knowing AI!
That shit was absolutely hilarious
The amount of times I revisit this game thinking, "surely it won't be as bad as last time I played it." And I somehow don't learn my lesson...
GGs bois, we gave em what for
I am grateful that this game exist, it gave to the Italian RUclips community sooo many hours of fun content.
QDSS (Quei due sul server) a famous Italian gaming channel done a series and it's still one of his most watched one.
Thanks Kickstarter.
Vecchia ost di qdss parte in sottofondo
@@zaicanna96 ahahahah
Is the series only in Italian? I wanna check it out?
@@forestcampbell8962 yeah it's only in Italian, I am sorry
@@forestcampbell8962 some videos have eng subtitles but don't worry, even if you don't understand the language you will understand everything thats happening
Thanks for inviting me to play this with you, bro!
This is just a shit show galore of bad Ai, clunky controls, and unappealing gameplay.
Fire video, Fry!
It’s not just bad AI, they also Insta-Kill you! Like, what?!
"Slow is smooth, smooth is fast" actual firearms training quote. 😉
I remember buying this game at release with a friend. While it was a total disappointment, my friends and I actually had lots of fun playing this game.
This, SWAT 4, battlefield 2, and Vegas 2 were my go-to games for coop. You always get laughs and good memories whether you pass or fail.
Well anything’s great with friends, including getting wasted on alcohol. Doesn’t make it great though, or good.
Man, hearing TB in the montage got me kinda tearing up.
For real.
I was a Kickstarter pledger for this game and was quite active in the forums back in the day. I was active enough that I was offered a beta test and signed an NDA.
It is a shame that it was the way it was but that was because Serellan lost creative control.
Pvt Parts truly represented his role of being the private in this game
Thank you
@@mfdoctor9412 Haha I assume that was you? That frag on Bigfry Literally ended the segment I Think! hahahahahah
@@LeoMajor1 we all wanted to end after the first one. after the boat we did some pvp which was also terrible. so yeah probably lol.
@@mfdoctor9412 haahahaha. I want to try and play some Hell Let Loose or Squad with Big fry.... those games are SO AMAZING but you need to play with people that take communication and tactics seriously instead of just "run and gun rambo style"
@@LeoMajor1 just like me. Tactical 720 noscopes
Oh man , memory unlocked
I like these videos that look at stuff from the past, very interesting to me, as I didn't game back then!
I'll give them credit for actually making it to consoles.
i remember playing this demo on my xbox 360 and loving it
There are actually very basic squad controls, you can tell AI to stop and cover certain direction, follow you, and toggle few RoE settings. They sometimes did a decent job covering your back, but yeah, in solo play most of the map clearing had to be done by the player. I do have few videos of solo clearing on bunch of maps, so it's definitely not impossible, but it took a bit of practice and the AI aimbots were overtuned. I think there were some tweaks in config supposedly reducing AI reaction time etc, but it probably wouldn't help much, as there were bunch of other issues in base AI behavior.
The flashbangs were pretty effective for room breaching, which was nice, but the player just didn't get enough to use them as often as they would need to be.
"the AI aimbots were overtuned" yeah to the point where they'd kill you with a headshot while STILL having their backs turned on you.
Geez, the AI is downright cheating.
They should turn this title into a stealth game, so at least the player has some capability of hearing and evading the bad guys by using some kind of blind spot of Darkness.
Serellan LLC is their last game was in 2016 "hotel blind" where you just walked around a room with a black screen, and it even had vr support...
I'm okay with the graphics as long as the gameplay is good. Been dying for RB6 like game. Can't wait for your game Fry.
Glad to see someone who prefers gameplay over graphics. Unfortunately this game is just not it…
One of the all time greats. Best with friends like a polished turd. My group plays this game quite a bit for the challenge. Love it 😂
In retrospect because I remember following this project during a MilSim drought, it was hope. But we all noticed the John Wick AI and felt that was gonna make it too hard. We also did like the graphics and we could tell Serellan was serious about their work. It's sometimes too difficult to pull off.
I'm pretty casual when it comes to old-school (pre-Lockdown/Vegas) tactical shooters (I've played through Swat 3/Rainbow Six 3/GRAW 1/Sum of All Fears once each and Swat 4 maybe twice), so when this game kicked my ass repeatedly I always had to wonder whether the game's enemies really were bullshit or if it was just a skill issue.
It's interesting to hear from people who are much more into tactical shooters than I am that the game's difficulty really is bullshit :)
I gotta say though, the arctic base map in this game is really cool and is kind of wasted on this game, it would have made a cool setting for a completely different shooter, maybe something inspired by The Thing.
I remember getting this game on the Xbox Live Arcade thinking it was going to fill the void of the dying community of Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2. Complete garbage. So glad it has a trial before purchasing. During quarantine, I gifted this game to everyone on my Steam friends list. To show everyone that things could always be worse. Nobody liked it. Everyone hated it. We had no fun playing it. Until we got enough people on to play some pvp. Which was a little better. But boy am I glad I didn't back the game on kickstarter.
Takedown nearly broke my computer
@Bigfry There's another game that Serellan LLC has made after Takedown Red Sabre, it's called Epsilon and looks quite similar to this but .. in the future. It was released into Early Access on Steam in 2015 and still is in early access. Would love to see you make a video of that if you ever got the chance, had fun watching you guys play this. :P
he literally mentions it at end of the video
IIRC Brigfry also made a video on epsilon a long time ago
Yeah, I had high hopes for Takedown. Once I heard they abandoned it for Epsilon, I became much more wary of the company until I saw Christian's post stating he gave up on it due to lack of community interest.
Hello little server room, I'm a little server room too! 😂
I remember playing the demo on Xbox 360. I "liked" it, but I didn't care for the one shot kill bullshit at the time. I really think the term "tactical" is overused, to the point that when I hear the word I visibly cringe and automatically envision a game with too many convoluted controls (Arma), slow gameplay, instant death, and prioritized teamplay. I'm going to buy this game again - it's $4.99, the price of a pack of Lucky Strikes - and see if I like it.
Damm that snippet of Ghost recon Island Thunder got the nostalgia all cooked up.
I got this game on Steam for a dollar - it was the worst purchase I have ever made in that price tag. I refunded it and decided to buy a match-3 -waifu- puzzle game, it was a massive improvement in comparison.
You refunded a dollar....
this video convinced me to buy this for me and my friend for a literal dollar and had a blast laughing at it awful that it was made with kickstarter money but as someone who was just browsing the store its fucking amazingly funny
Man the bots are just built different
I have been trying to find this game for YEARS
Naming yourself "Pvt. Parts" is fucking glorious and Im sad I never saw anyone do this when I was younger lol Props
It always bothered me how Takedown succeeded on Kickstarter, whereas Ground Branch failed around the same time. Compare both now... Ground Branch deserved the successful campaign. Not Takedown.
I mean tbf it was being developed by people from old school Ubisoft, Microsoft, and others so who would you trust more? Not saying Ground Branch didn’t deserve it, just tryna be realistic here.
@@brawler5760 So was Ground Branch to a degree. John Sonedecker (creative director/lead artist of Blackfoot Studios) worked on the older Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six titles as well. Christian Allen was part of the team that made Ghost Recon 2 and the later console iterations like GRAW. If I had to choose between the two, I'd choose John. That said, I did fall for Takedown's promises because of how well presented the goals and ambitions were.
I really enjoy you going back to these games!
I watched your "Live the Life" video yesterday and did some digging. The main dev seems to still be active (even has a youtube channel) and the new reviews are quite positive. I'd love to see a video covering that game again, to see if things have actually improved since
I was one of the backers of this game.... Remember, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 came out a year earlier, Black Ops II came the same year. Just compare those visuals xD Red Sabre looked like a game from 2006, it looked worse than the first Modern Warfare xD
Considering that Allen worked on some of THE BEST shooters of all time, including Ghost Recon Future Soldier, I cannot fathom how he thought this was good.
Love how all the bad guys look like Revolver Ocelot from MGS3
i had tons of fun on TRS. It was funny cause it was broken af
i beat this game solo wasnt that bad honestly enjoyed the game
Man, my friend got myself and 2 other friends copies of this game for $0.99 and we still feel cheated out of money we didn't even spend on it. Genuinely the worst game I have in my library, and I own Bad Rats.
I remember playing this game with my friend and my cousin back in the day and having a pretty good time. The game is janky as hell though but that's what made it hilarious.
I will say, this is the closest thing I've ever seen to an actual one of those 'Mic Trick' videos you get at E3.
Who knew that getting everyone to play like that just required the game to be God awful?
I think I remember playing this game on Xbox 360. Usually just me screwing around.
I didn't play this game, but it is kind of sad that just by judging this video the game looks kind of solid in comparison to some games that are being released these days. It first it actually looked pretty good even.
What's the soundtrack at 0:40?
Yeah I remember the hype for this game. Some sort of return to old school tactical shooters but that didn't happen lol.
This game wasn't fun, YOU GUYS MADE it fun.
Hearing about future soldier again reminds me how i never understood why people liked that game. It had way more in common with splinter cell conviction than it did with any other ghost recon game. The gunsmith thing was amazing but thats all i can think of.
@@Unknown_Geniusim hoping they take the mechanics of breakpoint (minus the rpg stuff) and combine it with the setting from the og ghost recon. And also find a way to connect the clancy games together again in a way that actually makes sense.
loved this game on the Xbox 360 lmao, little 10 y/o me thought this and dragon rising were the coolest games lmao
I have been trying to remember the name of this game for years. I played it on the 360 and could never remember what it was called.
Goddamn Vegas and Vegas 2 were such an incredible games I miss that.
Yo its Pvt. Parts. it was fun playing with you guys but that shit sucked.
Those doors sounds in the beginning sound like someone using an inhaler.
Hi bigFry
Wouldn't be interesting if you made a video about Kickstarter on general?
Esp now you have a look into what it takes to make a video game.
It would be cool and like a guide if how you communicate a fund rising from the community without been a scum or messed up bigly
CMON will always be the worst mis-user of Kickstarter in my opinion. Because of them I won't even back on the platform anymore.
I still install Takedown every now and then when I want a good laugh
very cool
I was so hyped for this game, I backed it. As a life long Rainbow Six player, I was excited thinking we'd have a true successor. RIP in the Hidden part of my steam library along with all the other trash.
A glimpse of things to come from kickstarter projects aka HH
bro those ai are worse than any scav boss on tarkov. thats insane. they shoot you before you even peek the corner
11:48 I lmao’d so hard. Good lord this game is so bad it’s good.
Might be a crap game but that was content gold.
I knew I had seen this game somewhere, then you used that clip from AllShamNoWow and I got hit with a Jimmy Neutron brain blast.
I think Totalbiscuit donated to the Kickstarter and played it when it released.
this game is actually an inside joke between me and a friend lol
if ready or not came to mobile.
in my time it was about taking down a Green Sabre XD
i used to play this games demo on xbox 360
now im not surprised i died in every single corner
this was on 360 hahaha
What makes this game ultra realistic is the little chicken legs animations for the swat team.
I'm actually surprised you didn't get one-hit killed through the walls non-stop, 'cause that was my experience with this game.
At least I got it in a 4x pack for 1$ so I guess the laughs with my friends were still worth the money spent x]
This is sad this game came out in my hometown 😔 Seattle usually we have great studios.
Ready Or Not on a budget 😂
I cannot looking at this game without thinking about Quei due sul server, they're the og of takedown
Game is mad fun with friends
It seems to me that they wanted to make a highly realistic tactical co op game but missed every mark
In all fairness, the maps were great. It was mostly the unfair enemy AI and insufficient squad controls (there are some basic ones which Bigfry seems to have missed, but not enough) bringing the game down. Since the maps were good, the coop worked and the general gunplay and controls were serviceable, it could probably be turned into half decent tactical game with more development time and effort, unfortunately money ran out, it was pushed out, failed commercially and never made money to get fixed up.
@@panvlk I can agree that the maps are good but you can't do and much to mess it up when you want to make a realistic tactical game
And for the enemy AI I believe they should be slightly unfair because they're in the defensive position and most real life buildings have that advantage
But the real ai problem seems to be that the ai acts like a super human like we see many times that he peaks into a room and the ai snaps 90 degrees at the speed of light and one shots him in the head it's like the ai can only shoot heads and that makes it super unfair
Another big problem is the audio many times it feels like they just appeared behind you
It feels more like a horror game than a tactical shooter
think you meant slow is smooth, smooth is fast
I was one of the suckers who funded this, I even have the embroidered patch still. Aside from being next to unplayable, I actually do remember the visuals being pretty poor even back then.
Why does the arena announcer sound just like you 🤣 For a solid 45 seconds, I thought you dubbed it in
The Half Life 1 cockroach has a better AI than every enemy in this game combined 🤣🤣
Still has better and more challenging AI than Ground Branch 🤣
to be fair....i did hear that door open xD
that was the automatic door
I remember myself buying It back then, and I lauched It once... and felt...It's a joke, garbage scam.
My buddies and i bought this as a joke to see how bad it was back in the day lmfao
Got a man down 😂
Ubisoft gamer ahh chatter
Just imagine the people who do this ish for a living lol. It breaks your nerves in half stacking up on a door to a place where people have weapons identical to yours just waiting on you to come in lol. I swear I aged a decade faster while being deployed to Iraq lol. All it takes is one bullet, and you become a memory lmao!
Back then I thought the game was top notch on 360 me and my boys spent hours playing😂
I hate that the AI reminds me of Ready or Not.
Damn it man, the difficulty on this game looks like it is set on Ultra Hard. I mean regular enemies kill you instantly!
I think biggest issue is the lack of self identity. If it at least had a unique art style or did one thing that stands out slightly from every other military shooter, it wouldn't be as bad.
Got this game when it came out, my little brother and I played it a month ago and now you post this hahaha funny stuff but yeah game sucks but its our first basic game weve played when we were young
I still like the game. I played it not long after replaying Vegas 2 so it felt like a small, high-difficulty DLC.
Sorry Fry...you seem to have forgotten the arrogance and toxic attitude of the developers when people weren't happy with the game we'd backed or prepurchased.
Lots of us were giving proper constructive criticism and pointing out issues on the Steam forum (alas we may have been snarky at times, but not toxic or outright insulting), yet the forum administrators basically banned ANYONE that wasn't rimming the bloated assholes of these high and mighty "developers" and praising them for "a job well done".
The development and launch of this game should be a text book example of how to do everything wrong, from development, PR and community engagement. The attitude in general from the team was just atrocious ... They did nothing to manage expectations and had zero understanding of how to address their community. Irony is that had they had any talent, they could have fairly easily made the game a lot more playable as the core framework was there but instead decided to just cut and run.
The best thing about this game was someone in the forum suggested Insurgency as an example of how to do this shit right ... and 1000+ in-game hours later, I agree ...
But thank you for this little walk down memory lane. It was as delightful as having a rotten taco turd you've flushed down the drain, somehow float back up to the surface.
Fractured Veil easily the worst. Do a video on that shitstorm
The games not even out yet lol
@@BigfryTV Yeah well I regret backing it thats for sure.
I remembe this hahaha
the game launch was so bad they gave us a free copy to give to a friend ? i don't wanna put my friends through this lol... yeah i been ripped off by so many games i try not to think about it
