Btw this was pre corona so there nothing about sanitation But if anyone wanted to know the instructor will ask you to clean the passenger seat and door handle before the test starts and before that the instructions will take your temperature and ask you some questions regarding COVID-19
I've been visiting this video multiple times before the test, which I am super grateful for and I want to pay it forward by sharing my experience. I took the test this morning and I am certain that I didn't pass. This wasn't the route but it started the same. I started with a 3 point turn right away on Central Hudson and then headed back to gearing way by turning right. The road test officer was very vocal about everything I was doing. She was very particular about my turns (one was too wide, another one wasn't fast enough). Another one was speed, that I drove too slow. Her comments made me more nervous and put me on edge. So general tip is to stay calm, if you receive critique keep going, do not let it bother you! It may be something small, you can still pass by not messing up rest of the test.
@@ohhey_monse1058 most of the time they also have another one where you make a left turn instead of the right to go on the route if the video thus one can be tricky they are a few hills where you have to be careful with cause of the driveways other than tht they are both easy quite routes
Just took the test a few hours ago, I still have to wait for my results to come in but I feel like I did really good! The path my instructor took me through was THIS EXACT ONE- now, my friend recently took the same test and she went a different way but this was mine. I’ll answer as many questions as I can if anyone wants to ask! The main few things I noticed: - the first left turn, EVERYONE WHO TESTS HERE HAS TO DO THIS, isn’t actually that hard. You pull up to the white line, stay put (even if the light is green) until all the cars coming off the high speed roads go by, and THEN proceed. If you are waiting for those cars to go by and the light turns back to red, continue to wait and repeat the process until you can go. (DO NOT TOUCH THE WHITE DOTTED LINE WHERE THOSE CARS CAME FROM) - during the parallel park you will be asked to pull into the center of the road and then parallel park so that the front or your car lines up with where the marker is. Very easy. - I don’t know what her name was but my instructor was so kind. The instructors here come off as rude though- they are very quiet and don’t make small talk, they don’t let you adjust your mirrors (you should be doing this as you wait on line OOOR when they say “whenever you’re ready, begin”). Other than the course is about 4minutes max and if you arrive early, and understand that these people are probably more nervous than you, then you’ll do great! I reccomend going below 35 even though that’s the speed limit on the main road Update: wow I wrote this forever ago. I passed! I’ve been driving to school every day now and it’s been awesome.
On the first left turn, this guy did didn't wait and just went as the other cars were going, do you think this was the right thing to do or no? I have my road test in 2 days, and it will be in this site.
@@emanqureshi610 I’m sure you took it by now but in case you’re still unsure the person in the video did the wrong thing they were supposed to wait until every single car passed by
I just took it for the second time today and failed because I didn’t go immediately at the green light and instead waited for the cars to pass. It’s up to your instructor I guess but it still stinks
@@spoolysnail32 I think it’s all about approaching that line. You have to wait for them to go first, that’s a given. However, not even beginning to approach/not preparing to go when a light is green isn’t the right thing to do either. I wish you luck on your next test though! Mine was in the middle of a snow storm so don’t stress, it could always be worse
I talked to 2 DMV test instructors while waiting for my son taking his test. You DO NOT have to wait for traffic to clear on first left turn. Make your left turn using caution of course, but proceed when light turns. Just do not cross over white dotted lines.
Just took this test, the route is changed a bit depending on the instructor but it shouldn’t make a difference. You just need to be able to do a three point turn and parallel park. I lost 5 points on the parallel park because I parked too far from the curb and 15 points from going too slow because I was scared to go fast like how I normally drive 😭
@@dasjiak It lucky wasn’t too slushy just a lot of snowbanks and it covered like the whole shoulder. She made me park behind an invisible car and it wasn’t too bad with the snow on the side of the road. There wasn’t really a curb there to jump over either it was just snow over grass. I was worried about kids jumping out into the road from behind the snowbanks so I went like 20 through the neighborhood and explained to her why and she was super understanding about it!!
@@dasjiak that first left hand turn, did you attempt it while there was oncoming traffic or did you wait until there were no more cars coming off the ramp?
Yes the first left can be tricky because of the ramp just remember to wait till you have enough time and space to turn if they are cars coming off the ramp also the road looks much more wider so you have to pay close attention to the lane your in
I passed my test today and just a heads up that they've updated the traffic light and there's now a left turn arrow which makes it a million times easier!
I studied this route for months when my June test got cancelled and I just failed today. The examiner automatically failed me when we turned to the light. She grabbed the wheel and turned it more left. (I got my results she says I was apparently in the wrong lane of traffic.) I’ve never in my life been in the wrong lane and I was not over the line of those getting off the ramp. I would never make a mistake like that. I just have really bad luck it seems as everyone else in comments passed. I didn’t even get to do my parallel and three point.
Don't beat up yourself up your gonna pass next time now you know what to expect I remember falling cause I spoke bck to the examiner she wanted me to make a turn in front of an on coming car and I told her I wouldn't do it cause at the moment I thought it was dangerous as I was coming from a full stop position she got so upset told me to park the car I rescheduled at a different location and passed sometimes it's the examiner you get
Mine is coming up and I’ve studied this route so much since everyone says that’s the route they took. But I’m worried on the off chance they take me a different way since I have this one memorized and know what to do. June 2nd is the big day. If I pass, it will be thanks to this video! Thanks so much for posting.
Yes there is another route they take other than the one on the RUclips video either way not much to worry about trickiest spot is at the beginning at the traffic light there is an exit ramp from the highway and the green light allows you both to go u must give thise coming off the ramp priority before making the left turn
@@rufusjeanbaptiste3243 No you don’t have to give them priority like you said when it’s green you can go. It’s not like when you have to give those going straight priority when turning left. You just have to make sure you don’t cross into their lane when you turn
