Great video and very catchy song too! Question: it seems like you are saying this can help with the overall mix clarity/punch/warmth, pre master, as long as you don't go overboard with the compression settings...am I correct? Would this be a good finishing touch before mastering as long as you don't squash it? I love the polish of it....
Exactly. I keep the gain reduction around 2-3 dB at most on the compressor. When used lightly, it's pretty much a foolproof way to improve your mix.

It's very hard to tell unless you gain match the dry and wet signal of course it's going to sound better because it's louder with the plug-in engaged
Quite obviously way more than just a loudness increase imo… take another few close listens. Let me know what you hear!

I'm in the market for new speakers and I'm torn between the Adam A8H and the Neumann 310 which I remember you used to own. What are your thoughts on these 2 speakers?
Thanks man! 🙏 The monitors I had before the Adam A8H were the Event 2030. I'm honestly loving the A8H thus far, I've had them for almost a year now. Great low end, smooth high end, not fatiguing and translate very well outside of the studio!

I had the Event 2030 previously. Main differences with the A8H are they’re less fatiguing at higher volumes, slightly more detailed in the mids and they translate better outside of the studio imo.

In future please try and gain-match the A/B so we can hear what the plugin is doing rather than be impressed just by the volume increase.. We always get fooled by plugins that make things louder which immediately sounds more impressive, but it might not be adding .
