Got a 737 here in the studio... always lusted after a 747... loved true iron so Ive been highly anticipating this! Looks like they smashed it out the park! Great demo too David, loved the speed, great mix decisions when demoing the unit, found myself getting nostalgic vibes from the tones being achieved! Off to grab it! Epic!

Well, if Kazrog nail it, so hardware 737 units behave very different. There was four different 737 hardware units i had in use here in Russia and compression on all four units makes vocals sounds plain. Maybe optical pairs installed in them are worse than one in your studio. I dunno. You are lucky☺️ i can't test Kazrog modeled plugin, but when i back home, i will try it. ☺️

I don't even bother watching any other channel, especially reviews. It's crazy to me how you teach me mixing while just showing a new plug in
I own an analog 747 so did a shoot out between the plugin and the actual unit. They, of course, are not exactly the same. I don't have the greatest converters, so I don't know what the converter bias is. I used a test tone to make sure that everything was correctly matched. I put the plugin on it's "best" setting in the setup window. The top end is better on the analog and the low end more focused. The stereo image on the analog is also slightly better. I found I had to adjust the compressor threshold on the plugin to get the gain reduction the same. Both the analog and plugin sound good. I would buy this plugin because it is a nice sounding plugin that has a classiness to it, not because it sounds identical to the analog unit. The plugin has the sound of a high end piece of analog gear. As I said earlier, I don't know what part the converters have played in this test.
are we compensating the gain ? Didnt see autogain compensation. If the compressor post gain is more after makeup is added it may perceived to be sounding better.

I own a vt737sp black face edition and I know a lot of people don’t like that unit but I love it. I’m gonna see how this plugin stacks up against my 737sp

@@mixbustvI use it only for tracking my vocals. I’ve recently purchased the AKG c414 XLs and it’s a perfect marriage so far. They always say that the 737 and 747 was great on R&B vocals is why I bought it
If you are doing RnB vocals, unless you are using a 1073, there is no reason that you should not use this plugin. It is THE sound. 737/747 is going to be the sound for your vocals in RnB. Especially Mid to Slow tempo.

I just bought a UAD apollo, basically for the avalon so using the kazroq demo its pretty solid adds instant thickness, and a little percussive in nature whats not a bad thing. If they make 1073 cone that would be a nice versatile alternative, then of course a 76 and la2a then your 90% of all thats needed everything else is stock plugins is fine for multiband eq or what not.

Kazrog do very few, but very good plugins... I love their transformer plugin

really nice on vocals. definitely has that avalon top and “pillowy” compression. i used to reserve the “pillow” label for tubetech cl1b but this is similar. different compressor than 737. eq does that avalon clarity white-hot knife thru butter thing. cool plugin. kazrog is king

As soon as your video expressed enthusiasm I went and bought it, I’ll watch the rest later. Kazrog, to me, represents a model of plugin etc. companies. I’ve been using True Iron on every track since it came out, and also use KClip. They are excellent and the prices and support amazing. I’m replacing any plugin I have that phones home, requires iLok, or places the burden of keeping it active on the buyer/user. There are so many great options now, from great companies, Kazrog is one, Tokyo Dawn another, klanghelm, Kush, and many I’m forgetting in the moment. It’s satisfying supporting these companies, and more than satisfying walking away from the others no longer relevant. Plus- great sound!

Thank you, David. Finally I'm understanding the side-chain on this. I have a couple questions. 1) What is the purpose of the threshold going below zero? Does this do expansion below zero? 2) I'm kind of getting that this is not a "channel strip" like the 737 since it has no pre-amp stage? So you would use this after printing the vocal/track clean through a pre-amp of some kind. 3) Is this mainly intended for bus application or for mastering rather than individual channels?

The threshold going below zero allows you to avoid the compressor the be triggered by the respective frequency (range) controlled by that threshold knob.
It does: you have a gain, you have a +10, you have the tube signal path.
You can use it on 2bus or single tracks, that's the beauty of being a plugin as opposed to have one unit (unless you could afford 4 of them back then) and in that case the most common use was 2bus or a group
Just purchased this today. I use a lot of these plugins in my Gig Performer for live applications. This plugin has very low latency which is nice for the application. I also have the 737 coming from my UAD Apollo x8p but in order to use it, i have to run it through the hardware because has a bit of latency. I used the 747 on vocals and acoustic so far. I still have yet to dial in the acoustic but sounds soooo sweet on vocals. Very nice plugin!
How does this compare with the UAD version? Is the 737 a different hardware than the 747?

I have the Hardware Unit and the is better for me but for a Plugin is a good choice. The tube from Hardware is more warmer and the eq is better.
So... How does this compare to the 737 UAD Emulation? If I had to choose one...? Thank you for the awesome demonstration... Oh okay so this is more for mastering.
The hardware units were very similar in design, besides the obvious differences, one mono, one stereo, graphic eq vs parametric etc.. I don't know how the UAD sounds but this is a no brainer, one of the best top end in the plugin realm

The eq on the 737sp has the same vibe, beautiful high end with little phase or weird artifacts, the first time I used it I had to bypass to make sure it was on because I was so used to other eq's.

We had a 747sp in our studio and barely used it after a while. The eq definitely shined more than the actual compressor. Kinda overrated, but it had it's uses. I'm not missing it enough to buy it in plugin form, even though I'm sure Kazrog nailed it. 😂

How's the latency and CPU hit...wondering about use in a live mixing situation.
This will obviously depend on your CPU, but in general this plugin is designed to be used on many tracks and buses without incident. In a 48 kHz session, the plugin will introduce only 31 samples of latency at 2x oversampling. If you need zero latency, you can disable oversampling, but for this plugin I'd definitely recommend using 2x or higher.

Military communication stopped being tube based when transistors came along.

I hope they have because I regretfully had to sell mine in 2015 and I want it back sooo bad but it has literally more than tripled in price for what I sold it for on the second hand market! I feel so stupid for doing this and makes me feel a bit sick to be honest! :( This unit is like magic if you work on EDM stuff. The bottom and top end is just huge! The compressor is super clean, it doesn't really smash the audio if you're looking to crush something because the release is not very aggressive, more suited for just taking a bit off on the master bus but if you really push it you can get a punchy sound that still sounds super clean. I never tried it on a vocal, was mainly just on my master bus. I'm too impatient, I've checked the site like 8 times today already, waiting for it to come up! Please hurry! ..... Still watching your vid and it's very close in sound to the real unit. I just can't wait to try it out without any RUclips compression to be able to hear the top end properly. I want to hear that bottom and top end on some bass heavy EDM to see what it does! :)

Bit of Trivia....The Hitech Store I worked at for many years , the first few 737 Avalons we had , had purple knobs.... Wish it had that skin....

Dear @mixbustv firstly I apologies for being off topic, but there’s none other I can think of asking this, suppose I’m using a Mic Simulator like MicSwap or Mic Room from Ik, also I want the mix to have an analog vibe. In one of videos you’ve said that the tape emulation plug-in should be the first in the audio track chain, but I’m kind of confused about what should I put first on the chain, logically the Mic Emulation comes first, ain’t it sensei?
That video was probably how to emulate a full analog path in the box. It doesn't apply to any other scenario other than that. Mic sim goes 1st

This plugin is in my new go to chain for rap / r&b.
Noise Gate - Autotune - Avalon 747 (Airy Vox Preset) - CLA76 - CLA2A - and an EQ to cut some lows and mids.
The sound i've always been looking for making music just myself in my bedroom.
CLA compressors have aliasing issues. I used the 76 into the 2A for years. Try Klanghelm Mjuc instead

@@roninthegoat2810 Just stock noise gate in Logic, sometimes if I want good noise gate I use fab filter gate.
@MG-jy5qx ehh horses for courses. Those plugins are on SO many hit records it's insane. They honestly have their own sound at this point. Are they the best sounding in a 1 on 1 shootout? No of course not. I reach for UAD more often, but simetimes...im so used to "that" sound I use em.
That said not a fan of a specific vocal chain in general, but rather different chains for each individual artist + where/what gear they are recorded

Im a bit sad because the demo song is missing low mid so much the kick/bass balance is making the audio demo seem weak. I can hear the curves and stuff and the sound, but because of the production in the demo song here; I cannot hear how it affects the entire signal. Or yes I can, but let's say the context is so muddy I am not sure what to make of it.

I think UAD do the other version . Looks similar but it's a different unit with different eq, etc. 737 I think. Trust me I had the real unit (which I had to sell but wanted it back ever since) and if it's anywhere near close, you deffo want it because I've not heard a plugin that comes even close to it in sound.
Which is exactly why I didnt hesitate to get it.... Its about to get some major work... This just made my day
