- The Fever has 19 games to go. They most likely have to win at least 11. Is it possible? Let's talk about it!
As a Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever fan, it would be nice if the Indiana Fever made the play offs this year but if that means retaining Christie Sides as their head coach, I would rather them NOT make the playoffs, and have Coach Christie Sides FIRED. Sad to say, losing games might actually be more beneficial for both Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever’s legacies in the long run. Coach Sides is BIGGEST factor pulling Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever down, and destroying their legacies and potential! 😞
Agree, if Fever makes it to playoffs, Sides guaranteed to return😜 No deep run necessary, she will get credit cuz team was so bad last season, to make playoffs this season you have to reward the coach!😜
It really does depend on Sides....one thing we can all agree on, she needs to go.
i believe anything is possible with caitlin and the talent on the team. the only thing that holds the team back is the coach. every adjustment she makes ruins caitlins momentum which pretty much sabotages the whole team cause caitlin is the catalyst of the squad.
I would say chances are slim and if they don’t make the playoffs Christi Sides absolutely has to be fired.
If Sides is still the coach after Olympic break there is no way the Fever have a chance to get into the playoffs!!! Sadly I know she will still be here because the owner doesn't give a Crap Period!!!

Won't matter. Until her teammates actually put in the effort to play AS A TEAM and not as individuals or CC saboteurs, they're destined to remain a losing team.

They only play 3 games against the top tier before the break. Many of the teams at the top won't be able to do much over the break because of the players going to the Olympics. Combined with the fact it's going to take a toll on those players, it may take a game or two to get back into rhythm. Hopefully the Fever can gel over the break and be more competitive with the top teams.
Only if they run the game thru CC and Kelsey stops playing for herself and here is the baggie, coach sides decides to set up and force the team to set decent screens that give CC one second for an open shot and she sets it straight with others that they will look to pass to CC. There isn’t a ball Kelsey won’t dribble the air out of and shoot to get her points - forget if someone is wide open. And if CC is going to set Kelsey up for shots she has to catch passes that hit her in the hands. If I was into conspiracies I would be questioning the game Kelsey missed 3 passes that were very catchable.
Lollipop Clark is a phenom, but her coach has to game plan around her instead of depressing her potential to elevate the other mediocre players. Clark should have a male coach who understands the need to elevate excellence above mediocrity.
The Fever need to maybe start thinking about letting the season go. Look for trades to teams that might need that extra help in the playoffs, in return get a draft pick. Or, trade to a team that might need that help to get in the playoffs. I really do like the Fever Team, but with Sides coaching it's not going to go anywhere unless the players are just too good to lose. They need a dominating center to do this. Or another dominating forward to work alongside AB. If a different coach I would keep it like it is for 1 more year. These girls are great.
Other than CC herself, who on this team has ANY trade value?

I think the break will help them sort a few things out and you can be sure cc will be in the gym working on her game
I’m low key hoping they just beat the Sky because of the rivalry and just work on the new fast paced offense. Letting CC cook, everyone practice their pick and rolls, screens, picks and team defense. Making the playoffs, I don’t care much about. If they don’t make it, since they only had 13 wins last year they have a great shot at a top 3 pick: Paige, Kiki, or Morrow.
CC will put up the numbers when they pay her 500 thousand a year. She's already bringing in millions more for the league. Pay her her due....
I think they have the more favorable schedule in the second half of the year. So if they play well and the referees don't steal any more games from them they should make the playoffs.
Fever could make the playoffs if they play total team basketball! They have enough offensive power if used in the right ways. Their defense is lacking alot! Fever have got to put more pressure and close out on 3 point shooters! If they can figure this out then they Should make the playoffs this year! No weak links in any games going forward!!
I think the Fever can beat Phoenix and Connecticut. The other top 4 would require Devine intervention.
You asked and the answer is the Fever , could perhaps make the playoffs if theyhad a decent coach but with the airhead they have itwill be a miracle. Of course if they just ignored the coach they have they couldn't do any worse. What's the coach going to do bench the whole first string? I doubt it. Ha Ha !

The only thing I care about is Cc getting her 15+, 10 and 5. Everything else is gravy.
I’ve noticed that the pace and tempo of her game has increased. I’m not sure if it’s the video speed or if it’s actually the pace. If that’s the case then her shooting may be affected by that increased tempo. Her shot is very much dependant on her leg strength. The fine twitch muscles that controls the trajectory will also need to readjust to that up tempo. It’s only a matter of time that her hands will catch up to jet lower body.
unlikely with Sides as HC .. she won't put CC in the best position to lead the team...

As pointed out by many already. This team will NEVER make the playoffs with Sides as the coach. She has the incredible ability to coach defeat from the jaws of victory. They've already lost at least three games they should have won but were destroyed by terrible or no coaching decisions. That's not going to change in the second half of the year.

I agree. To me, it's as plain as day. She has, pretty much wounded Clark's confidence in her field shooting. She does still have excellent passing, when the others can catch them and score.

Based on the season so far and the way everyone is playing and the coaching, no way in hell they make playoffs. There is something weird going on in this locker room between players and between players and coaches.
I hope not, the only chance to get rid of Sides is if they don't make it.
Good breakdown CDSS. I have been monitoring the same. Can you do a look at the Sky and Dream? I am hoping that Fever and Sky make the playoffs. A lot of need to win vs need to lose for those three.

This feels like Math…..is THIS where what I learned in Math class becomes useful?? But I get the gist- it’s a tough stretch ahead for Indy! I would be happy if they gave the top six teams a good run for their money, even if they lose. I want them to be a legit threat and make the other teams work hard for their wins. Can’t help but wonder how much the “equation” would shift if they got a new coach after the Olympic break….

Playoffs will come down to Fever, Sky, and Dream. Sky has the toughest schedule for the remainder of the season so I’m thinking Fever makes the playoffs (and that’s assuming Sky beat Fever in August).
I hope Fever beats up on teams with poor records + that the top 6 teams kick ass when playing Atlanta+ Sky

Wheeler make game slow and no defense
Wallace is thrash with no vision
Mitchell is good but not team player no defense

I think that the Fever "All Stars" could beat Team USA, however it is doubtful that the Fever "All Stars" wil make the playoffs with Coach Sides. Christie Sides will make sure that Caitlin Clark does not lead the Fever to any playoff games. They might be tied for the bottom of the league, so maybe that could be considered an improvement. Anything is possible, but this team becoming a winning team is not a probability. Juggle the numbers anyway you wantr, just remember that Christie Sides is coaching these talented women into oblivian.
No... They can't play defense and the teams they best--like the Mystics and the Dream--had injured players ou that will be returning soon. They should be able to win 14 or 15 games I would think but that's probably about it. Mitchell has been on a hot streak but she's streaky and will cool down. They have no other shooter to take her place, certainly not CC, who is a pass-first player now.
Hopefully Lollipop Clark doesn’t make the playoffs. Then maybe they’ll fire the coach and hire a man to get the best out of her.
Sides is not putting CC in positions to succeed. And Mitchell is too selfish of a player. They beat Phoenix due to Sides putting Mitchell on the bench until the 2nd half after being a ball hog. Wheeler needs to go too. She has no role on the team and brings the team down usually.
They can make it if Mitchell and CC have some sort of chemistry, which I doubt will happen. Sides will most likely stay for the season. Smith has the wordt defense and gets exposed way too much. The team needs to make moves. CC is the star, the center stone of the team. When they push the pace, good things happen. Half court offense is straight up horrible on the team. Their defense sucks and CC needs to work on her awareness on the defensive end. Does not not realize Kate Martin isn't calling things out on the defensive end anymore lol.

Unless the Fever starts playing much better, their only hope to reach the playoffs is to beat the five teams below, and for those teams to lose more games than the Fever does.
