Love the series! "Lay out" is two words with the verb "lay", hyphenated at best. The noun "layout" is one word. Who asked me, and who cares? We all have our hobbies.
I don't have any of this stuff on my horizon but I have been learning so much for when I do.I also could tell that not only are you training your guy the way you want him to do it, but you kitted him out with gear (and not just the snap-back) that will make him a more efficient worker. I also appreciate how you edit out all the shouty bits (and the cursing) so I can watch with my kids!
These framing lessons are coming in right on time. Self build workshop footing pour is tomorrow, as close to square as I could. Then ICF stem walls.. string line and laser at the ready (though my laser is less rugged, more frugal!)
Same guy that dropped of couches at your work site is probably the same guy that left me a washer and a recliner get those cameras up so we can catch that dirt bag, lol Thanks for Sharing your wealth of knowledge Timmy...
I actually own 4 of them and 1 was hard to wind since brand new and another needs jiggled every once in a while to wind in but the line is soo crisp. The other two work perfect
Yes it is. It is far more accurate. Check the accuracy to compare to whatever model you are thinking of. Stabila is easier to dial in, or even automatic if you buy that version. It also fans the beams out better than the other little cross line. Those really are just for interior work, like trim carpentry, tile and even smaller framing.
@@AwesomeFramers thanks for the reply. I was thinking of Bosch GRL800-20HVK Self-Leveling Rotary Laser Kit. Its also a rotary laser. Upon review stabila is at 3/32 at 100ft while bosch is 3/16 at 100 ft. But the 600 vs 2 k price tag is quite a diff. Prices for these lasers has been coming down over time!
@@AwesomeFramers yea has a receiver as well and 800ft capability. It wont match elevation of the receiver though like stabila will. Thats the main difference.
Good question. Probably using post drilled anchors like Simpson Titen, and epoxy anchors for HD (some engineers don't like them for HD, but we have used them in remodel projects for decades--requires special inspection).
I'm all about technology. In fact, I once wrote about it for JLC when I seemed to be on the bleeding edge years ago. I find that some of the guys that work for me will get so caught up in it that they will actually take longer to do something simple, like plumb a wall, than it would take just using a plate to plate spirit level. I'm curious, as a math aficionado, like me, why you don't just calculate your long diagonals on that flat foundation, and run with it?
I find there is a lot less walking around and pulling measurmentson the foundation. Plus if we need to cheat something, its really fast to rotate the laser and see the effect.
Did you mean to say "I got caulky" or "I got car key"?😂 Also, I still don't understand, what all the measuring and lasering was for, but I was eating while watching. Should have paid attention.
Sure you may have gotten a form of this question before, so I'll ask it slightly differently: would ICF be a good alternative for walls in your beloved Pacific Northwest?
ever hear of 3, 4, 5? a2+b2=c2? or a construction calculator? rise/run diagnol? The laser is cool, we didnt have that in my day, trial and error and different colored chalk to adjust..

swearing isn't allowed on our jobsite, so no editing needed.
Best, most instructive building videos on RUclips. And yes, my bouche was amused. Thanks guys!
Yeah these guys are good on the front wnd of building.
They dont pretend to be finish experts but do a better job at than most homes.
Thank you for this series! Good amount of details and helpful tips. Love the chalk line pro tips ha

How are you verifying parallelism by pulling tape and laser? I don’t see laser on. Are you pulling diagonals vs the reference wall?
This channel is awesome. Only a matter of time before you get a million subscribers

When doing your measurements, don't you start your measurement at the 1' mark to increase accuracy?
good question, often we will "cut a foot".
Interesting I've only heard it called out as "Burn a foot" 👍 👌
Order a Tajima chalk line and you will never go back to anything else.
Almost any brand is fine if the person using it knows what he is doing.
Tajima sucks just as bad as the rest
I actually own 4 of them and 1 was hard to wind since brand new and another needs jiggled every once in a while to wind in but the line is soo crisp. The other two work perfect
I put Tajima lines in my other chalk lines. Crisp, fine lines with more robust housing and mechanics. Best of both.
Have 2 fine and 2 thick Tajima’s no issues.
Was this part 6 the last one in the series? I can see any more "parts" in the videos section
If any of my framers ever said amuse bouche I'd pass out! LOL Great video.
How is the stabila la180 better than the 350 dollar laser levels at box stores? Is it worth the 2k price tag?

@@makethingshappen8427 Ah, if you don't need the elevation, save the money. We need it for stepped foundation work and framing.
Do you have a recommendation for a foundation contractor in Pierce County (Roy) area?
Would you say those metal gears are... solid?
Where are the hold downs and anchor bolts ❓

Cool! I really enjoy your videos. Your biggest talent is your easy going personality. I can tell your guys love working for you and learning from you.
Tajima makes more than thin line. I have a normal line that works great.
Timmy can dunk. Timmy likes Elaine.
