IWS After the Game - Fresno State Football Edition 2023

The Fresno State 2023 Football Season has wrapped up and is in the books! Behind the wheels this year are Daniel in the side load and Erik in the frond load. Daniel’s main truck this year was 606, a 320 diesel Python that originally started off in the Redrock yard but was transferred down to IWS. At the last game, Daniel took out 609 as 606 was down. Despite it being newer and CNG, I definitely prefer 609. It’s a lot faster and doesn’t have hydraulic issues, something that 606 struggles with. Towards the end of the video, you’ll see us having some fun dumping manual bins, double dumping 32s, and attempting to dump cardboard boxes.

Your overhead shots were my favorite, love seeing the blade slam and pack lol. What stuff is wrong with 606? Hydraulics causing the arm to not be as smooth? I love how 609 had no hopper cover. Does this route take their whole work day? Do they have pack out on this or do two/three trips to the dump? It would be cool seeing these trucks manual pack with throttle!

There's an issue with the hydraulic system. You have to wait for the packer to finish cycling before dumping/undumping a cart or else the arm gets all jerky. That's fine for the rural routes they mostly run but for a place like here where it's cart after cart, it can get annoying pretty quickly. Depending on the game and how many people showed up, it can take anywhere between 4-5 hours to finish the route. IWS has always been able to fit everything into one truck with room to spare but back when Republic used to do it, there were a couple times where they were very close to packing out.
