I'd take the big hat plus the sunscreen. UV is high out there.

You don't use a door lock when something happens - you use it to PREVENT something from happening. Waiting to use one only once you have determined that there's a need is too late.

That's a good point. Another thing to note, however, is that many doors here in Asia aren't compatible with the type of lock we showed in the video. It'll be great in Europe and Latin America, though!

I think that in the travel community, there is a market that profits off of people's worst fears/planning for worst case scenarios with traveling, and the door stopper is an example of that.
For me, tweaking a couple of behaviors and having street smarts is more useful than buying a lot of security items.
My take- try to avoid staying in locations where you feel like you need an additional door stopper.

The sunscreen over hat makes no sense to me, Sun screen going to sweat off while the hat keeps your hair from super heating.

My family has been to south-east Asia twice (Thailand and malaysia) and I think your list is very accurate but we did wear hats because we burn even with factor 50 on 😅

Hahah that's the best reason to wear one! They just get too hot and sweaty for us.

Idk about other countries but Malaysia’s monsoon season is usually from Oct-Dec (or early Jan) so other than these times yes raincoat is useless 😂

I loved my hydroflask with me as I really only want to drink ice cold water and not deal with condensation. Managed to have it with me all though my trip. Only to accidentally leave it at the airport during my transit (I was too tired with the layover) I'm still sad about it 😢

Might be different in that part of SEA, or if you're a local. But for us, they were waaaay too hot for us to be comfortable walking around in the humidity.

Yeah ...no...I'll bring my hat, uv ray protection..I don't care how safe it is a small device to ensure my room is safe is piece of mind. Why would I want to reuse a plastic bottle , first they are not made for multiple uses and bacteria is going to develop, also You say it is excruciatingly hot, so it makes Complete sense to bring a steel water bottle it keeps the water Cold. A plastic bottle is going to turn into hot water within minutes.

Jeez what’s with the passive aggressiveness. This was just her opinion. And a reason why I can think not to bring an insulated water bottle is because they tend to be pretty heavy especially when full so that might be a deal breaker for light packers

We haven't made it out there yet, but definitely looking forward to it one day. I'm sure for people that are more experienced/used to the heat they can wear jeans and jackets. Coming from Chicago, there's no way we could lol

Jeans yes. Hats and raincoats are replaced by umbrellas for most.
