I get that breaking axles is annoying buut engineered rear steer is just not something you can have on a car these days so I feel like it's a bit of a waste to get rid of it. But thats my opinion 🤷‍♂️

The old car from stephan Fisher. Good idea from the new owner to remove the rear steer. the car get more solid

Yes! so glad to hear you are dropping it down, getting rid of the rear steer and adding a high mount! so good! great to see its gone to someone who knows what actually works!

Nah don’t get rid of the rear steer, it’s the best possible party trick side strafing around. Mal story didn’t make too many of them, they are fully engineered and cost a lot of money back in the day.

i think i get what you said...
you are proposing to convert (over time) a tray shortened, wheel base modified, castor corrected, brakes modified, 100% engineered and street registrable, twin steer, portal axled, lifted, engine and gearbox converted, custom turboed, intercooled, water cooling system relocated, hydraulic rear and Bi control steered vehicle purpouse built, for technical driving ($200k+ and rare as...F)
to a dual cab, single steer, aus tourer with more room for the fam?

      yeah i get your comment:-
      rsponse:
lts a defender with a doubling of the weakest componentry of the vehicle: and a doubling of the stress on those components due to portals.... bearings @ halfs, stubs& cv's dont like it......what do you expect...
      suggestion:
engineer the faults out don't incorporate new unknowns at such a late stage..
i'm with tom wesley and element 271 on this one ... not a frictionless idea... would be a shame to see all that effort undone in todays auto engineering climate. get a perentie and do it up for under 40k.... i vote leave it alone...
Do what you want of course but consider the difficulty of reversal after the fact.
having said that like for anyone else, you only need to roll it once to loose the vehicle....
I change my vote to: give it to me for free... ; )
      I promise i wont roll it... ; )
good luck with whatever you decide... its just a car...

I thought tiny had an epic winch mounted on that with cabling fed back though to the front?

I agree with this guy, I would lower the 110 38mm(1.5 inches). More than enough room for upward tyre travel for 37's and as it is now the lift is enough for 40's(but not for 42/43 inch tyres). But just to clarify 35.4(900mm)×11.8(300mm) on a 8 inch wide wheel to 39.37(1000mm)×13.1(333mm) on a 9 wide wheel is my range of tyre diameters/widths(these dimentions for these sizes are with out the vehicle weight) as I am not into huge tyres.

      @gen1c8rs88 3 года назад +1

@@defender90orkney9 I agree it's easy to see. And a 38mm/1.5 inch drop would still allow for added weight for the mentioned touring.
