My mom fell in love with our life in INDIA - trying Kerala cuisine for the first time

- In October, my mom arrived in India for her second trip here and we were finally able to welcome her into our home in a small Kerala town of Payyanur. While we were excited to show my mom all the incredibly beautiful nature surrounding our home in the jungle and of course have her also see just see our home and the lovely life I as a Finnish foreigner have been able to make for myself in India, the most important thing however was to just have her spend lots of time together with Annika playing and speaking Finnish, have Mummi be a part of our everyday Finnish Indian family life. But of course we also enjoyed the excitement of exploring our hometown area and more specifically all the amazing traditional Kerala cuisine, the best part about living in Kerala!

› ABOUT ME
My name is Johanna North. I’m a Finnish woman travelling in India since 2016. In 2019 I married my Indian husband and we moved to the state of Kerala in southern India, where we are still living. In 2021 we welcomed our baby girl into this world. On this channel I share videos on blending our Finnish-Indian family life, culture, food and travel mostly in India, and sometimes in Finland too.

Hindi from dadi, Finnish from mummi, English from Pappa , Malayalam from neighbours.....my head is spinning...wonder how Annika manages it so well.
Most kids rather easily absorb the languages used around them and on them, it’s only really difficult for us grownups to learn with so less conscious effort 😅
that's what I was about to say, earlier I thought her hindi is dominant but wow man She's picking every language. great ✌✌
Great isn't it 😅
Wrong 😂😂
Haryanvi from dadi
Their mother tongue is Haryanvi
You guys think that North India has only one language that is Hindi change your perception

You chose the best things in India - location, food, culture, classical music/dance. Your mother is living a dream!
I am from Kerala working outside India now. Your video is so nostalgic. After living outside India for a while, now I realize how beautiful is my birthplace. I was watching your videos like a movie. Thanks for posting these videos. Hope your mom will like this new place and culture.
My mom loved Kerala, gods own country indeed! 😊
@@JohannaNorth ✨😇🌤
Yes I see what u are saying about India. I lived in India for 3 years and then returned to my home country (England) for 13 months. During that 13 month period in the UK I realised how incredible India was. But didn't quite see the actual awe and wonder of it until I left the place. I'm now back in India and living with a local family. I'm slow traveling as I'm wanting to absorb India's cultural depth through living with a local family ❤
That's called : " muttathe mullaikku manamilla"😂😂
People fall in love with kerala everytime they see with their own eyes and experience the beauty....thia is the reason this states called the "gods own country"
God's own muslim country would be proper😄😄
@@indianallways5720 yes brother..we have muslims Christians Jewish Hindus and jain...in eyes of our people(keralites)all these people are same and we live peacefully within a society.Which is impossible in North..cry for it🥱

Once again... Another beautiful National geographic documentary🥰!!!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed 🙏
Western coast of India starting from Gujarat to Kanyakumari is indeed spectacular. Fortunate enough to have covered it and its too beautiful
The view from your home is gorgeous and so serene ❤. Kerala is indeed “God’s own land”.
It’s lovely to see Annika and her mummi enjoying themselves together. Annika’s speaking skills and vocabulary is growing by leaps and bounds. Annika is truly a global child, one who will grow to appreciate and love the nature, people and animals around her.
Beautiful vlog. Your mother looks so mesmerised by the beauty of Kerala.
She did really love Kerala 😊
Nostalgic memories of Kerala revived, again! Thanks!
Anika & her Grandma are having their best time together. Loved to watch!

Coming here after Corona times. So happy to see little Annika. She has grown up so much. Times flies fast!
So nice to see Mummi enjoying Kerala and spending quality time with Annika. She is growing up so beautifully. She is getting to be quite a linguist ❤
Its written in your mom's face that she is so innocent...
Nice to see finnish Mum trying Indian food and liking the environment of your place.Nice colouring time between Annika and granny❤
Everyone likes South India. They are very friendly, polite, and much cleaner than the North India.
Beautiful Johanna.....
Thank you for sharing these memorable moments with us....
Welcome mummi to Karala.....
Annika is growing so beautifully 😍
Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
Very captivating video esp presence of mummi from Finland absorbed in the variety that Kerala offers. Good work Johanna
Your heart speaks to us through your videos. What lovely aesthetic you have, Johanna. Annika is such a grounded, secure child. You & Vinod are raising her so well. As a Bharatanatyam dancer myself, I felt Annika deeply at the end of this video. Your daughter moves so gracefully. Do start her training in dance soon. Its a life skill & a personal sanctuary she will be privileged to call her own.
Blessings from all of us.. may you grow up, getting the best of India and Finland. God bless you lil angel ! Lots of love ❤❤
Paradise indeed ❤️...taking the opportunity now to Wish you and your beautiful family a Wonderful Christmas!
Happy holidays! :)
So good to see you all!! Anika is so communicative.. cutie pie has grown up with time . Your videos are always informative Johanna . Thanks
This is the best time of the year to visit that part of the country. This visit was well planned. You get to spend Christmas with mom and family.
My mom was here in October and November 😊
Lovely for Annika and grandma to have such fun times, the food looks great but I can’t do the spicy ones, your mom is very brave to try them,
The food in North Kerala/Malabar region isn’t quite as spicy hot as in many other Indian cuisines, so do try if you get the chance! My mom loves the indian restaurants in Finland so she’s been practising with the spices 😅
A great video to expose Kerala's unique and exotic culture
Such a blessing to have a tri lingual child- There is so much value for a child to know multiple languages
I love watching Little Anika grow into this smart an Beautiful little girl she is so sweet an yes love seeing your mom enjoy Indian with u love from South Africa

Your vlogs brings me peace at all times😌. I am not even from south but from north. But your way of living peacefully with a kid, husband and families is what I expect in my future. ❤
Your mom summed it up perfectly using 1 word❤Paradise ❤

There was never called baby food for most of us in childhood 😂
Your house is actually located in a paradise like place 🥰
And its perfect for Children & elderly people.
P.S: Your daughter is gonna be an amazing a multilingual kid ❤ Hope she learns dances like Bharatnatyam too, if she wants.
We’ll take her to classical dance classes around the age 5-6 if she still wants to go 😊
Hi johanna, I'd love to watch your videos. Annika is so lucky brought up like this. Nature, food, culture, grandparents, etc
Am always in awe with your home and surroundings 😊 the one reason i started watching your videos. 😊
Anlka ia a really angel. Gods abundant blessings be on her.
So Johana, you made your mom Indian too by using hands to eat food , no doubt Annika always love dance because I still remember how she not stopped herself from dancing by watching classical dance in one of your past video ❤
I think I got one of the only moments on video when my mom ate well by using hands only 😅 but she did try hard!
@@JohannaNorth 😆 yes i can watch that, I have one suggestion, if possible just want to see your mom in Indian ethnic saree, I am damn sure she will look fab,you can just try that.
Annika loves time with grandma from Finland 🇫🇮 so beautiful ⛄️🎄👋⛄️🎄👋☕️
Beautiful video of Kerala beauty, sweet Annika and your mom's enjoyment ❤

Your family is so gorgeous, especially your daughter
Production quality premium.. filming direction is Hollywood level... quality content
Who wouldn't like Kerala despite all its pros and cons. There's no wonder your mother got transported by the mesmerising natural beauty of Kerala's landscapes and its laidback routines.
It is crystal clear, Annika is inspired by local dance art forms. Who knows, presumably she'll become an acclaimed dancer someday.
It's both a gift and a curse to have an upbringing in a multi-linguistical and cultural environment. It has its advantages and disadvantages. Orientation/guidance will help her to make the journey/path fruitful and remain focused.
I you love your live then you will definitely avoid isis islamic terrorists in kerela
@@Akm25253😂This happens when you are a product of WhatsApp university !Kerala is a state in India and people who vouch for akanda bharath itself maligning a state only because their party of choice is not in power is nothing other than jealous ,Even foreigners are praising Kerala and what’s your problem dude 😅..Be proud instead .
@elisabetta4478 well we definitely will be taking her to dance classes if she wants in the future 😊 we try to encourage her to choose the best bits from both her cultures and are trying to make both feel like home and an essential part of her. loved watching your video. I am from the neighboring place Kozhikode and now living in Bangalore. Watching your video made me so nostalgic! Thank you. May you continue to have all the blessings! 😍
Wow!! We are from Kerala, own an authentic Kerala restaurant in Los Angeles known as Mayura Indian Restaurant. This video made us so happy.
I can appreciate how Grandma must find the heat & humidity a bit much in the daytime J. Not something experienced in Finland. Annika must love having her for awhile. She is learning so much of value at this early age. Much love to you all. 💋❤
Heat can be overwhelming in Finland too during the quite regular heatwaves these days! But the humidity here in Kerala is quite something else 🥵😅 it’s still difficult for me too, even after 4 years
😁😁horrible for me too. Myself a keralite but comes there on summer holidays only. Humidity is difficult 🙋🏻♀️to adjust.
Trust me, getting to see the world sitting on your parent's lap, on the front passenger seat of a car is a luxury your baby will get to experience only in India. It is one of my fondest memories of childhood. Unlike kids in the west, who have their childhood locked up in a car seat, this experience makes her journeys way more personal and a treasure for when she grows up..
Yes good to be unsafe - keep your Bakwaas to yourself and stop advocating your good luck
She is an angel 🌹🌹🌹 cuty. May Allah always bless you and your family. Lots of best wishes from Sweden.
First of all i really want to salute to bhaiya he is behind the cam most of the time but the love we feel for all the family is incredible.now random a video pops in my RUclips i clicked and omg i am in love with your positive family and so much peaceful vibes it directly kill all the negative energies . I all most completed all your videos is so much refreshing. Now about aranika she is a baby directly from heaven .all i want to say may be i am far from her but i feel like a brother want always to see her happy and you know that care any brother feels.now about bhabhi namaste bhabhi ji you are a gem how you are adopted culture not only one but 2-3 different types of culture and how you handle it is so inspiring. Now merge it and talk about a whole family i seen in your videos how you manage all the things so positively bhaiya's family then bhabhi's family then your own personal things and issues then baby life then your own couple life its not easy last but not the least your social media family if you consider us 😅 .all i just want to say god bless you. and thank you so much for loving india so much we are so proud of you ❤lots of love
Thank you so much for the kind words 😊 not to take any credit away from Vinod, as he is a great help behind the camera sometimes, but most of this video is shot by me only 🙏 wishing you a happy, peaceful Tuesday!

Payyanur. My English teacher in my childhood was from payyanur, kerala. I’m from Telangana. I’m forever grateful to him. He was my favourite teacher. I was his favourite student. 😄
It is good that Annika loves books more than smart devices. From previous videos, I have seen that she is so excited to see new children’s books, not much interested in smartphones. That is good parenting.
0:28 Reminds me of my niece who's now a little older. What a beautiful child.
Love watching your vlogs dear, hope your moms stay is fun & memorable for you all❤

My daughter's name is the same as your daughter's. Interesting to hear you pronounce her name as we don't emphasize the n. We'll be hopefully visiting Kerala in December from the US.
Annika’s name is spelled with a double N so it’s meant to be emphasised 😊 it’s a Finnish name also, and we’re using the Finnish spelling and pronunciation
