I can't say that I wish I wasn't born 30 years later so I could hang out with you guys. Sending much love and peaceful vibes for a very lively and intentional future for you and your community.
When I was a child, people used to live like this, I remember them doing what you guys do. It means there were healthy ways to live on, and I am happy they don't go extinct like so many things and beings these days. I am 57 😊 and I enjoy watching your videos . I really hope you teach many generations of yours and those who come. Thank you! ❤
I many many years, when your childhood is just a distant memory, looking at that wall will remind you of where you are from, and where you are now, it will be a meaningful part of your home that you will treasure
I like the idea of adding clay from other places - Georgia red would certainly evoke some core memories for me! I found a deposit of a really rich blue gray clay in a river bank in western Massachusetts that I thought would make such a beautiful color element to pottery, but would pair beautifully with a yellower clay as an accent on a wall. Very creative and thoughtful, you two!
Found your channel recently, and I love your content 🤗 it’s very inspiring. I have started a list on my phone of different places that I can forage from. And I’m planning to join my church’s community garden next year, and I’m thinking of doing a three sisters type garden because I learned it from you guys 🤗
I can't wait to see the end result of your apparent in your new farm. Also, I can't wait to see what you have in store for next garden growing season. I am really enjoying your amazing adventure!
It is summer in South Africa and finally it is raining. My once dead and dreary garden is alive and everything is growing. I've made eggnoodles with zucchini ( handmade noodles) because of an abundance of eggs and zucchini. Zucchini muffins, zuchini wraps, zucchini stirfry, yip, you should get the idea by now.😂Watching your video reminded me of spending endless hours of sifting through cold damp municipal garden waste to remove plastic in preparing compost for the upcoming growing season. I have CREST and with it comes Raynauds disease. My heart goes out to you sifting through the soil knowing how cold you must have been. I hope that you receive countless blessings from you diligence and hard work. Keep going and keep growing.❤
Your content is so peaceful and grounding. You guys inspire by making it seem possible to live aligned with nature. Thank you both for sharing a piece of your world with us!
You have no idea..the cattails for me. The marsh in my area🪶 wonderful guys! Thank you for sharing. Definitely needed this moment. You bring peace and your home is lovely. It is a blessing to be part of a community where the same ideals live on.
The walls are beautiful. Your labour reflects great virtues, your time, your energy, your creativity and your long connection to the land you came from as well as the fresh connection of new land. Beautiful ❤️
It is very cool that you guys are using your land's clay and that of your childhood homeland mixed with the milkweed fluff. Maybe this was used before horsehair plaster? What will you have to do to preserve the integrity of the walls from seasonal changes of humidity and dryness? Fun to watch you two! Thanks for sharing!! ☺️✌️🫶🦋🙏
Yea, it's a very similar idea to cement plaster and horsehair! This type of wall is actually really good at regulating humidity and temperature changes so once the wall is complete there's not much that needs to be done.
Jealous of you guys! I’m in college right now and homesteading feels like a far off dream. Wishing you guys the best in your first year on the property
It seems like just yesterday that Silvan and I were in college dreaming about our future farm and now it's happening! I bet your dreams will come true before you realize it :) Thank you for the kind wishes
Davvero coraggioso fare parete in terra battuta con la terra ghiacciata , siete davvero motivati! Io vivo in sud Italia e non posso immaginare la fatica per aver compiuto ciò! Tanta stima 😊
Yea it would probably prevent them from flying away, but I think it might cause them to clump up which would prevent them from mixing in with the plaster evenly
I have found difficulty being able to sit down, watch and really absorb the essence of the videos you guys share with the world. I'm a young guy who used to very much be on the Sigma Male Grindset. Couldn't do anything that didn't have a very clear reward. Fast forward to these past couple years I stumbled across your channel on the RUclips shorts living off the land challenge I honestly thought you guys lived the dream. But it was just that. A dream. I didn't actually see myself being able to have that in the future. I'd find myself clicking on other RUclips videos which were more isntantly rewarding, when a Homegrown and Handgathered video popped up in my subscriptions. That all changed today. Its like in the movies or tv shows where you imagine you are the protagonist. I can do that now with this channel and I'm so happy for it. I've been single my whole life so it's been hard for me to imagine a long term relationship with a special woman. But now its like wooow every little activity, task and thing you guys do I can imagine if that was me and it just really warms my heart. I know the views might be lower on these kinds of videos but the essense of your guys love for each other and how yall want to live is really something not a lot of people can appreciate. For now I hope. Thanks a lot guys!
Do you guys ski? I just had my first (cross country) ski of the season and your video of your shared farm looks like you could happily while away some very pleasant hours. You've got one of the keys to a happy winter down - a nicely insulated indoors and a fire - now all that remains is to find something fun to do outdoors!
this is amazing, but please make sure you're wearing appropriate respirators/masks when working with clay and sand dust! silicosis is no joke and you really want to avoid breathing those particles in.
Yea we definitely will when working with the dry stuff. This little batch was so wet since the clay was fresh out of the ground that there was really no dust
He says making sheet music to share with folks is on his long-term to do list. Although he has a toddler so I know for a fact that his to-do list is very long right now 🤣
@@HomegrownHandgathered totally understandable😊 And thank you for taking the time to ask him! If he ever gets to it, let us know - I am sure there are many who would be interested. He is super talented - the music compliments your videography beautifully.
This reminded me of y'all. He cooks a venison dish in it! (Although he used pork tenderloin, for he couldn't find venison in time). ruclips.net/video/MITN-jtnGWk/видео.htmlsi=7Tv6jhCbLaRurm9h
I've dreamt of having a life style similar to this since I was 18. Now I'm 32 and don't seem any closer. No land, no wife, and no money to get either. It all seems so far away.
I can't say that I wish I wasn't born 30 years later so I could hang out with you guys. Sending much love and peaceful vibes for a very lively and intentional future for you and your community.
I feel the same, though I doubt that I would be cool enough to be part of their gang. 😂
What do you mean?? You just have 30 extra years of wisdom to impart during a hang out! :)
Okay both of y'all are crazy! I'm sure you're both very cool and fun to hang out with haha

That’s so awesome! Glad you’re feeling inspired and already have a community garden to get involved with. Good luck with your garden this year!
Wishing you a sweet home filled with kids, dogs, cats and all possibly loving you creatures 🌹⚘🌷
Aw thank you so much!
Very cool, I dig the lifestyle philosophy. Big fan of Ethan’s grooves as well.
Thanks! You can find Ethan's music on all the music streaming platforms BTW

Glad your garden is thriving! Hope the rain keeps up down there because I know SA has had some rough droughts recently

I’m so glad to hear that! Thank you 😊
I like the two-toned mountains. Very pretty and soothing.

Lol " we didn't lose our fluff we planted cat tails.", Always better to put a positive spin on things looking great, happy for you and your friends
"From one of my books" 💚
Perhaps a future video can highlight some of the references you are using? (Sorry if you’ve done this previously and I’ve missed it)
Wow, cattail fluff and flour paste. Who knew . It looks gorgeous and i love that its a heat bank too. Great video lovelies ❤❤
What a serene and beautiful setting. Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome!

Thank you so much for bringing us along on your journey and sharing the joy 🩷
You're welcome, glad you're enjoying the videos!
I am so jealous of this beautiful snowy winter, I'm in Lithuania, and we've had only a couple days of snow so far.

I thought your mountains were a heart at first but either way it's beautiful.
If you use the cattails again, I wonder if wetting them down first would prevent losses from the wind.
Yea it would probably prevent them from flying away, but I think it might cause them to clump up which would prevent them from mixing in with the plaster evenly
How special is THIS! ❤❤
The music choices really pair nice with your content in this video.
Great video!

Would Ethan ever be willing to sell his music as sheet music on pdf? I would love to buy it to play at home 🎹 It is very beautiful!
I’ll ask him! He does have a program that he uses to make sheet music for his songs so I think he probably could
