As a Maths and Sports Sci grad, it's cool to know about what you're actually doing for once 😅😅. Granted I've wanted to do medicine, but with everything that's gone in my life, SS was the closest doable!

Honestly much better without the masks. Audio has been fine but something about the masks makes it harder to follow. Communication is just much better.
The masks - for this sort of thing are not great, but I wanted to continue, so we have what we have I will however refilm all the mask videos at a later date
Something I find particularly relevant in this video is that some potential issues are mentioned. I found Dr. Gill's content through the ASMR community but I find myself interested in things such as "what would be a red flag in certain parts of the cranial nerve examination" and so on. Perhaps in future content there could be mentions to what to be on the look out for, etc.

Hi Doctor Gill! Love all your videos and have been watching you since you appeared on an ASMR channel. As a filmmaker I have one SLIGHT suggestion. You videos are definitely getting better and better but in this video during the opening interview, you break the 180 degree rule resulting in both you and the patient on screen right looking left. If you imagine a line connecting you two from nose to nose, both cameras should be on the same side of the line. So there’s a camera over her RIGHT shoulder which there is) and a camera over your LEFT shoulder (but in this video it’s also on your right shoulder). Hope this makes sense. Just constructive advise I hope. Love everything else. You teach me (a non doctor) a lot, thought I’d give some knowledge back!
We still use the peak flow, as it’s easy for patients to monitor that at home. You can see the peak flow reading on the screen here as well in the video
hi. huge fan. small filmmaking tip: google ‘the 180 rule’. the shot of abby should be from over your other shoulder - ie your left shoulder, the shoulder facing the camera in the master/wide shot. another odd quirk of the human brain, we don’t like cuts that jump the ‘180 line’ - we like subjects to stay on the same side of the frame throughout a ‘scene’ no matter what angle we shoot from. why? i’ll let you solve that one, doctor.
I've done this test before! For a study at McGill. As a flute player and an athlete, I felt pressure to perform and blow the test out of the water 😂. Their computer said I was in the 101 percentile (which doesn't make sense to me). So, playing flute and running competitive gives you strong lungs, who'd have thought?
I just took this test and this was so much more easier than the one I took.. I didn't get three good test just one and struggle with just that one test.😥
First to use the plastic pin to hold the gears in place then you take a tent put it in the circle of one of the gears place that gear against the inner ring of the first gear and draw and draw and draw that's how you do it
Thank you for this demonstration but I have a question, what's the difference between this test and the one where you inhale through the mouth piece instead exhaling?
I had blood clots before, suffered from 2 pulmonary embolisms at the age of 26 and 27. What would have happened if a patient said yes to that question?
I've been waiting for spirometry since lockdown. I'm deemed not "bad enough" and was dropped from the asthma nurse investigations even though I now cannot walk up the street without quite bad SOB. What has happened to the NHS? Gone from being an active gym user and brisk walking 20k a week to a huffing puffing person, all in the space of a month and cannot even get to see a GP. They have dropped the ball.
I don't know if you've ever done a video like so before, but I really like collar bones and the thorax as a whole, so would you mind making a video of you performing an examination on someone's thorax with an stethoscope?

Is this a modern version of a peak flow test??
Sort of ! It helps us measure more than just how quickly you can blow air out though - it also measures lung capacity :)
