@@DrJamesGill Thanks for your vid, Doc! I've noticed that the lips don't sync sometimes with the patient, seems like the recording that has been put in. I've been wondering what software do you use to edit/enhance audio?
@@kek123 It's an issue when running separate systems for audio and video recording. Dr Gill is mic'ed up using a wireless lav to what I'm assuming is some type of digital audio recorder. The best way to sync audio and video is to use a loud, very transient sound like a clap at the beginning of recording audio and film so that both systems detect a visible audio "spike" and then use that to sync both the audio and video together. It's why in movies they use a slate with the little clapper bit on top before each scene after calling to roll both film and audio. From what I would guess Dr Gill is using some type of video production software and not messing with the audio too heavily as things don't sound too overly processed. I would guess something like Final Cut or Adobe Premiere but I'm a noob when it comes to video editing.
Goodness, while pregnant I had the worst pelvic and SI joint pain. I'm 2 months postpartum now and everything is mostly better again, but just watching this exam reminded me of all that pain!
After 2 years of not getting a straight answer from my GP on my hip (been complaining of sharp pain in that region) that does interrupts my sleep daily. I feel like Dr. Gill would get to the bottom of the issue quicker.
Watching this alongside GeekyMedics and OME videos to prepare for my 4th year OSCEs. It would be even better if you went through Macleod's step by step just like you've done for other videos.
A CHEAP stethoscope. NOT an expensive one, that is for graduation I’d STRONGLY suggest a tablet computer - iPad and pencil or Android equivalent. But a copy of MacLeods Clinical examination - off eBay, nothing expensive. It will cover you from the start to finals.
Omg...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 the profile picture. I'm dead. I was scrolling down, & passed it, & was like...wait, what? Then scrolled back up, & died laughing. Thank God I'm watching a DR.😂
I kept going to all these different Chiros and scalp checks but I forgot about Dr Gill. My bad. All respect to the goat. Came back to the examination game like Jordan in the 45.
Hello Dr. Gill. It’s an honour watching your examination videos for both increasing knowledge and knowhow, and also for relaxation. I wanted to ask what feelings of detachment from reality and inability to remember could be symptoms of. I understand that there’s a wide range but including dissociation I hope it narrows down.
Dr. Gill. For this exam, should the patient be wearing shoes when you are reviewing walking? I am asking because I know many people who wear inserts that could mask walking issues.
You are completely correct. Also the shirt should be removed when assessing the back. But in all cases - as here, if the patient isn’t comfortable, we obviously must ensure that we respect that. I was a little disappointed by several points in the final video, so will actually refilm it post lock down in my usual location, but I’d already sunk the time into it, so didn’t want to entirely disregard it
That ADR at the end doe lol. Any chance we can get longer exams Dr Gill? You already know but you're a god in the ASMR community and these exams knock me right out on nights I have trouble sleeping. Thanks!
This might be the first patient to be taller than Dr. Gill. I'm assuming he is extremely tall considering how tall Dr. Gill looked like in his other videos.
@@DrJamesGill Thank you Dr Gill! I must admit that I wasn't expecting a reply from your good self!! I know the company well, and have bought many shirts from them over the years. I will have a look later today. My kindest regards and very best wishes for everything. Philip.
Do you have any videos for a full leg exam , I have an issue with my right leg from the knee down to shin . Appears almost bow legged and suffer from tightness and pain behind the tendons
Genuine question here Dr Gill. Why do doctors dress in formal attire (sometimes even in suits) when their job would require movement and flexibility such as crouching and bending? Wouldn't scrubs be a more appropriate and convenient attire for this sort of examination or even in general for that matter of fact? Thanks
Most of my trousers have elastane in the fabric exactly for that reason. I think with COVID there is going to be a BIG move towards scrubs now. In the day job I’m wearing scrubs all the while, but for teaching - WHEN the uni reopens I’ll stay with normal clothes
.Would it be too forward of me to inquire about the doctor's personal life, beyond the cat? Wife? Boyfriend? Companion of some sort? I'm 72 years old, so I have no designs upon the good doctor. I'm just curious.
