I thoroughly enjoy all of Raiti’s reviews and has helped immensely in my hunt for a replacement for my 2015 Ford Explorer Limited. I have seen many of the 2020 Explorers in the showroom and just cannot pull the trigger on one of these for one primary and incredibly bothersome factor. For a vehicle in this price range, the design of the front seats should be so much better. I’ve not seen any reviews where this is mentioned but where the side bolsters meet the hard plastic back and sides, there are large gaps where you can pull it apart and literally see foam, wire harnesses and airbag. This is such a poor design from the folks at Ford. I hope there is a redesign for mid-year to eliminate this gap. Such a superior seat design on the Kia Telluride in comparison. Aside from this seat issue, I do really like the new Explorer but just know that as the seats become aged, these gals will become more noticeable. Ford engineers, please fix this ASAP!
Thanks for the compliment and for sharing your excellent input!
The Kia telluride has worse seats
Damn 60k for a Ford. I got my Audi Q7 for 64k. Love the videos Raiti just subscribed
Thanks for joining the Raiti's Rides family! I feel your pain on the price!
Audi Quattro?
It's not $60k. You can buy the Platinum for under $50k.
A $64K 2019 or 2020 Audi Q7? If so, that's either a moderately equipped 2.0T Premium Plus, or a sparsely equipped 3.0T lower end Premium trim. Nice try, Apu.
Audi cheats 😁
American auto makers interiors fit and finish, generally, sucks, big time.
This is fr my dream car

Binhong Chan get use to it every new car is gonna be like that
I had a Ford explorer platinum and absolutely loved it! I now drive and explore ST! I can’t tell you whether I love it or not because I haven’t driven it enough to make that decision.
I just can't get enough of Raiti's Ride! Im like obsessed with it.
Thanks for your awesome dedication and support!
Its an awesome channel, super detailed and a go to for anyone looking to purchase a vehicle.
He's awesome explaining alot of everything!!
Someone has a sweet tooth! Love it! Hostess needs to send you a care package! ;)
Finally the platinum, thank you!!
You are so very welcome! I hope it was worth the wait!
I love the 2020 Explorer! I drove past one a few days ago
Thanks for letting me share this one with you Brendon!
Plastic trim on the exterior at this price tag is not good.
I can understand where you are coming from!
Am I crazy watching videos on Ford Explorers? I don’t even want one. Only watching because I love Raitis unbiased reviews. I love that he does not just gush over every car so as not to upset the dealership. This guy is the best reviewer on RUclips
Man joe hitting us with the big boy Fords 🤣. Man I love the way the 2020 Ford Explorers look they're awesome 😏. If I was to get any Ford SUV it would have to be the 2020 Ford Explorer ST with the Street Pack with Performance Brakes any day ❤. Would love to see what the changes r on the 2020 Ford Raptor & 2020 Ford F-150 Limited 1 day. Thanks Joe.
Thanks Jay! This thing is top of the line. I would be all over that Explorer ST as well! We are just waiting for more 2020's to make it to Walker Ford!
@@RaitisRides Alright bet Joe can't wait brother. Don't take this the wrong way or nothing but, I was wondering if Tom could get a little more in depth with his angles?. For example like when u say " LOOK AT THAT SUSPENSION WORK " I was wondering if Tom can full out go inside the Wheel Well & show off the struts, springs, shocks, etc.... Thanks Joe 😬😬.
I love the Explorer Platinum I believe they have a massaging seat for the passenger and the driver
Big surprise for the massaging. While test driving it, my wife found the massaging seats and basically it sold her !! We take long trips so that is a plus. We bought it after the test drive !!
How do you stay in shape eating all those snacks?!?! Nice review. Keep finding all the snack cubbies in all the new cars!
Thanks for letting me share the laughs with you! I appreciate you watching!
I rather save $12K and go with the Palisade Limited... My kid get heated AND cooled seats in the second row and USB in the 3rd row and their 3rd row seats recline... These cars are also for the kids, they appreciate those little things too...
For 60K they should make electric rear window
Thanks for the review man as always, but ford is crazy expensive as f and chep also for the pricd no thank you ford sucks!,,,,,
Exactly, we owned a 2018 Explorer, worst car we’ve ever owned, and this is coming from a ford guy myself
The exhaust on the explorers is that way for a reason there trying to fix the fumes from keep coming in the vehicle all those explorers are having issues with fumes carbon monoxide coming in through the back tailgate and choking people out obviously they still cant get it right just an F Y I fun facts for you oh and im a big fan love your videos
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one.
The interior looks so cheap. And their design is always basic
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one.
For this kind of money, I’d just step up to the Aviator
Exactly!
Good for you
I totally agree with you Luke!
@@dennisg.3364 AGREED!
@@javieravila8272 Exactly!
We have a 2017 platinum and couldn’t wait for the 2020. As soon as they came out we went for a test drive. We were very underwhelmed. We preferred the previous model over the new one. Unfortunately , I think Ford missed the boat on the redesign.
Yep it’s smaller
I'm glad it's smaller and faster then the old one rear wheel drive is much better then front and a 10speed is much better then previous gen its ment for a more sporty younger audience im getting one next week
Great video Joe! I didn't hear you mention the massaging front "multicontour seats." Any ST or Platinum trim with the 10" screen should have the massaging seats.
You are so very right about that Joshua.
You always do an awesome Job Raiti, it would be cool if you took a vote once in a while and did more comparison videos like you did with the veloster. really dug that. Id like to see your opinion of the Gulia vs the G70. At equal price and spec.
Thanks for saying that! I think you just gave me a great idea! I will be putting that together!
Love the way you use Twinkies and junk food to describe size and storage. Don't forget about Ring Dings and Funny Bones though. Those were my faves. Seems the Explorer Platinum is knocking at the door of the mid luxury SUVs now (e.g., Mercedes GLE, BMW X5). It also has parking assist and other luxury amenities not mentioned. I feel comparatively speaking, the Platinum gives quite a bit for your money.
Thanks for letting me share the laughs with you! You bring up some very good points!
Are you sure about towing capacity of 4000 lbs? Ford website says 5600. Thanks
they should have put the screen in landscape position! your not going to read a e-book while you drive
You are so very right!
The prop rod is the worst thing for a car at 60k.
Another thing Ford can't follow through with. I have an Edge ST and it has struts. Fortunately, Redline Tuning will have a strut kit available for the Explorer in April.
Another great video. I like how you do multiple trims in models. You really get to see the differences. I like the new explorer but some of the fitment near the screen is not good. I think Ford could of done more to make the explorer a real step above the rest. IE Kia Telluride.
Thanks Dennis for saying that! I totally agree with you!
Dennis Ford is already above Kia! Better architecture (a longitudinal one) that make the Kia look archaic and more sophisticated mechanic. An SUV should be more than a beauty parlor!
Raiti.. I'm about to riot if you dont hurry up and review the LINCOLN AVIATOR.
I have been waiting for months to get into Autonation Lincoln in Clearwater. At the final hour they declined to allow me access.
@@RaitisRides call the next nearest dealer. You mention and thank the dealer in all your videos. They should all be up for it.
Please call them and let them know you want me there!

5600lbs to capacity... he keeps changing it... 4500lbs... 4000lbs... its the same as the ST... 5600 lbs.
When's that 2020 Shelby GT500 review coming? 👀
My mom wanted this one because she had a ‘16 Platinum but I convinced her to get the ST haha awesome review Joe
Wise decision. If I had that kind of money, that would be the one to get.
Nice, my sister had a 16 Platinum also and traded it for a 2020 Platinum , it's nice but I think the ST might have been better, slight cheaper and 400 hp.
Awesome job convincing her! I would go ST all day long!
AGREED!
You are so very right Gary!
Waste of 60 grand
I feel your pain!
My very first Ford SUV! Brilliant video Joe.
Nr 1 off the suv not so expensive and all options included 🤠
This is true.
THIS - or an Acura MDX a-spec. Curious what people here think?
$60K???....NO F'ing WAY!!!!!!!
It’s ford, there’s always rebates. I got my explorer st for 48k in March (with everything on this platinum plus the rims upgrade), which was over 10k off msrp.
Another great review! I’m torn between this and the ST. Does the platinum sit up a bit taller than the ST ??
No it doesn't
This new generation is just meh for me the only good trim imo is the ST
I feel your pain!
I really doubt ford could care less what you think, relax.
I think of buying the used 20' Ford Explorer.
You're hilarious!! In a good way! Enjoyed the entire video as well as your intermittent humor! We just bought one used and LOVE-it!! Thanks for the video!!
I agree about your thoughts on the plastic grey wheel wells... they should be body color painted.
However, in this color scheme, I'd give it a, Half Zonk! Nice Thick Wheel, is awesome! ++
C'Mon! Who eats Hostess Sno-Balls, in Florida! They'll melt, and get Gooey! -- --
Honda Odyssey, Chevrolet Traverse, or This... Decisions. Decisions, Decisions, in the 50-60 thousand dollar range. Thank you, for another detailed review!
I'm here because I saw a ford explorer emergency vehicle set up that I thought looked really sharp. It must be a 19 model because it didn't have that large screen in it - they had a floor mounted ipad of some sort in it and what looked to be a normal sized touch screen in the dash. So... What did you decide on? Any idea why Honda Odyssey does not make an AWD like Toyota Sienna? Also, how does Subaru factor in? I saw a Subaru Ascend on the road other day - first time I ever saw it. I have an 04 Odyssey and like to upgrade to newer.
@@paul-young Honda looked at it, and one of the things they discovered was, in order to put in an all-wheel drive system, they were going to have to raise the vehicle, which would've compromised the interior.
I had a 2018 and I,regret selling it.
Heck we had a 2018 and we regret buying it 😂
Joe I’m sorry but I’m going to post it everywhere I can to see where I get an answer climate control does not display up on the infotainment screen but I’ve heard that there is a way to get it to display up there but I have yet to find anybody who knows how to do it other than to spend $120 of some kind of gadget you put into your diagnostic port which I don’t think you should have to do at this price range
That is a great question. I will try to find out!
nice vid. Does Ford have 2020 expedition too?
Thanks! Yes they do!
Hope you do the 2020 expedition too il wait for it
to much i would just buy EVO.....two Evo
Next time, I hope you will show the comparison between Explorer and other competitors, such as Telluride, Palisade, etc.
I will get that together for you so please stay tuned!
Telluride 291 HP, Explorer 365 or 400 HP. That's all I need to know.
They shortened it down in the back but I like the way it looks but it’s smaller
Oh yeah!
Got your power numbers fucked up
Ford say that for it don't get dirty but the real reason they did that with the tail pipe is because of last year fumes problem they had. That while parked had fumes was entertaining from behind so their thing was to make that cut for the fumes go down instead of up. They just not going to say that because they went people to forget it and question them about that problem. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Thank you for another excellent video Joe ...can you give us a review on the 2020 expedition and if the stealth model is still available in 2020.
Thanks.
Steven.
Hi Steven! I am so glad that you liked this one! I will get that together for you!
@@RaitisRides Thanks a million Joe ! 👍😃
Ford kills Me with all that plastic
Thanks for you review. I am confused when you say the Wheels are 20". The Tires are 21" and the wheels are 22" across. Your wheels are slightly different than the Explorer Platinum wheels I have which I find interesting. I also think your towing pounds are off some. I thought it was 5600 pounds. I agree with you on the hood pop up rod. That rod gets very hot when the engine has been used. I like the quad exhaust and not having to deal with the dust or dirt that come out. Some of us like to keep our cars clean without having to clean the rear area every so many times than necessary. The real reason the quad exhaust is designed the way it is,is to keep the exhaust fumes from entering the car through the tail gate. I also don't mind the flat black tire wheel moldings. I think if they were glossy they would show too much in rings that you get with glossy plastic .
The Explorer might be one of the top designs on the market today. Regardless of cost. It retains a "boxy enough" rear so that you still have "enough" space by the rear door. That SHOULD BE why any one buys a SUV today...knowing you're going to be carrying items once in a while too big for any sedan trunk. Most SUV's today have sloped the rear window too far FWD. To the point where their SUV's look like hatchbacks.
The Explorer also has a 11" NAV screen (portrait orientation). Something that SHOULD BE in most SUV's today. Funny enough I think it was RAM's F1500 pick-up trucks the first to have a huge NAV screen..theirs being 12"!! Maybe he largest on ANY vehicle. LUX SUV's from Audi, Benz, Jaguar, BMW still have small 8" screens if that. We are in the tech age. Most of us will not be taking our SUV's off-road. Let's be real here. :)
The Platinum is smart looking too. Outside and in. Only other SUV I like is the expensive 2021 Range Roger Sport (SVR or Autobiography)...which still has a sloped rear window but not too much. Their Discovery...even less...but it doesn't h ave Parking Assist"...which IS valuable today as we WILL find ourselves in tight parking spaces from time to time and SUV's all have not the best visibility to the sides.. though many have 360 Cameras. You will still want to look out via the side mirrors.
The Toronto police drive Explorer's. :) Must be for a good reason. So if it's good enough for the police...though they do have a "police version"...less luxuries. More beefed up in case of collisions. Forget the name of their model. But it is an Explorer. I

60k with a short warranty? Nah I’m good
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Matthew! I really appreciate you watching!
Gotta sweet tooth attack after watching this video😁
I am glad that I could help Tony! LOL
I forgot to mention to you my daughter has about a two year old Ford explore that she has been going around and around with Ford on because of the exhaust coming into the inside of the car they’ve done everything to replace the exhaust system and it still comes in the cabin so bad that it gives her a headache and I’ll be willing to bet you that was probably back when the exhaust came all the way out to the back of the truck.
Incredible review!!!🔥
I'm gonna' zonk this dude. Platinum towing capacity with the Ecoboost is 5600, not 4000. Yes, it is real wheel drive but has intelligent 4WD which kicks in automatically and instantly when needed. This is not a "fully loaded" version. I have one myself and the fully loaded version comes with 21" wheels, not 20". Also has the DVD system in the headrests. These are just a few points of misinformation given in this video.
Thanks for your input.
The 21” wheels are an option, the 20” come standard, dvd system is also an option
@@jayscarreviews9614 - right, thus the added "fully loaded" comment.
much better than the base...
It better be!
you mention in the video that the platinum version is quiet, as it has additional sound dampening fts. my question is "compared to what?". you also drove the ST, so, at the end of the day, is the platinum quieter than the ST? thank you. great videos.
All this talk of Twinkies, makes me think he's after Woody Harrelson's spot in Zombieland!
car and driver tested the platinum to go from 0-60 in 5.8 seconds and the at in 5.2 which is wild for a 3 row suv like the durango srt is faster but its more expensive than both the platinum or the st and in my opinion has a cheaper interior
I have a 2017 or 18 explorer platinum and I love that Truck we’re at the time I didn’t like the payment I was making on the lease so I traded in on something else but I’m really considering going back to one of those it was really comfortable and it performed wonderful but I think back then they had the 3.5 twin turbo and it was really fast
I like the explorer but I would get the limited edition and stay with the 8inch for the extra storage under it but you don't have those problem on it. Everything fits.

Great review as always but not impressed with the vehicle overall due to the zonks which I concur with. Definitely missed opportunities as you mentioned brother.
Love
I am so glad that I could share it with you!
Another great review. I used your channel a few months back to help me narrow down models. Ended up with the explorer st, though I agree with your zonks. The back up camera and that one spot on the interior trim. The exhaust is actually nice though if you ever leave your car running with the lift gate up. No exhaust gets into the cabin. Also, as a ford there are always going to be rebates/discounts. Got my St for over 10k off msrp, making it less than a highlander platinum or Kia telluride (and much more fun to drive imo). Keep up the great reviews!

For the top of the line the wheel openings and side mirrors should be painted to match the vehicle. That brown on the seats,🤮! Info tablet looks like an afterthought 🤮
Ford is more concerned about some soot on the tailpipes than what matters more. No thanks Ford. Try again next year. Joe, your review is the only thing I liked! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
I totally agree with your points! Thank you always for your kind compliments and support!
I can’t wait for my lease to be over I really want this badly except the ugly iPad
Use the paddle shifters on a big boat like this? LOL that’s just useless on a vehicle like this
I guess people like that because if they are towing and going up hill or down hill.
Raiti's Rides I guess you’re right I never thought of that.
They used a prop rod cause they know your gonna have to be under the hood a lot and not in a good way and prop rods never break
Why there is so little discussion/review about the Explorer 2020 base model?
when you come on over to the business and I love your honesty. But truthfully you had me at ZONK! You just won yourself a new subscriber
Exhaust sounds like a vacuum cleaner LOL !but it’s not supposed to be a hot rod
What the H is brushed Aluminum all your videos, called it what it is cheap plastic
I don't have to hug the tree?? Awesome

OMG. Please tell me they didn't go with fake ass exhaust tips.
It’s cool but I still miss the old Land Rover design it looked so much better
"Sport" mode should display a picture of someone chopping down a tree!
Lmao so funny i saw you go through my workplace in this review haha
Tow is 5,600 lbs.
Thanks for recommending us a car! I'm gonna pick it up tommorow!!!
If you're willing to drop $60K plus for an Explorer why not opt for a Lincoln Aviator Reserve trim for about $5k more? More powerful, far better appointed, and with a tow rating of 6700 lbs compared to the measly 5600 lbs of the Explorer.
This is exactly what I want to do if my budget allows at end of year. Reserve 1 rear wheel drive, 201A and Luxury package and possibly the optional wheels. Comes in a little below $65k. The other option is the Explorer ST where I know I can get more discounts.
Another awesome review - can't tell you how much that was needed - Thanks!
$60,000 hahahahahahahaha. Does that include the hideous tablet design
60k???Hell nah! Ford has definitely stepped up its game
$60k 🤮 The vertical infotainment pad looks weird. The black and brown seats are also strange. You didn’t use the paddles. 😀 Great video!!!
I totally agree where you are coming from Louis!
Throw the Raptor engine “450 hp “in this and I’ll take it !
60k must be a joke.. get a Lincoln mkt EcoBoost twin turbo, 480 hp, 375 lbs foot of torque, 0-60 in 6 secs flat, alil under.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one.
I approve everything you said but my biggest dislike in the road hight clearance maybe another 2-4 inches I'd be happy cause I like the ground clearance especially if towing stuff
That is a very good question.

@@RaitisRides Thanks Joe your so sweet 😜. Not in that way LOL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
And not sure if you noticed this but that back compartment in the floor can be reversed along with the side compartments. So carpet on one side, and hard plastic on the other so if you're hauling a filthy dog or bags of mulch you won't muck up the carpeting. I really like this trim level and am thinking of buying one in the near future. Thanks for the great review.
Thanks for that info!
Kinda liking it
towing should be 5,600lbs unless this one specifically is derated (the standard 2.3 tows 5.3k and the hybrid tows 5k) At least they finally put the engine in the right way.
Thanks for that great info James!
