I love how they brought back Jessica and we learn she and Danny Boy remained good friends and she introduced him to her cousin Amanda. So awesome. This season was great.
Bringing Jessica back for this moment was brilliant. It was so clever to make her the character that would open Amanda's eyes and say "No! Daniel is not in the wrong here. This is something that goes far beyond your understanding." I love how Jessica is rooting for Daniel.
Agreed. While I still don't like that Amanda left him over something trivial. Yes, I know she's upset cause Daniel ruined her chances of getting onto the board but I mean, just because your hubby loses control doesn't mean you should leave him (unless he's angrily smashing stuff, starting *unprovoked* fights or etc).
Jessica wasnt an ex. She made it clear from the beginning of kk3 they were just friends because she had a boyfriend back home they never dated. They were just really good friends

I don't think Amanda has ever truly understood everything that happened to Daniel then only someone who was there could truly do so. After all it took a face to face with Kreese for her to realize that.
And Amanda hit it right on the nose: Daniel never fully dealt with what happened. He couldn't explain the way Jessica could, as she either dealt with her end of it, or because she observed more of it than lived it, she can give a more logical observation vs an emotional one, which is harder for people who didn't experience it to understand.
The difference between Kreese and Silver is that Kreese was straightforward with who he was while Silver used his charm to manipulate/disrupt Daniel's Marriage.
Same! Now that they got everyone possible from the trilogy, and even the writers keep teasing this, I hope they get Julie from The Next Karate Kid to appear as a supporting character to Miyagi-Do in some form!
I have to admit, I'd been hoping Jessica would be on the show at some point...while I did think it was kind of cool that she was Amanda's cousin, you can tell she still has a soft spot for Daniel. She saw him nearly lose everything in Part III and still understood what he was going through and forgave him for his actions. I do hope we see her again in season 6

I never would have imagined the writers would have set up Jessica as Amanda’s cousin. When I saw that scene where she arrived at the house to see Amanda, I was just blown away. It was beyond brilliant writing. 👏
To be honest, part of me feels like Amanda should realize these things already. The adults that were connected to past Cobra Kai were poison to Daniel. After everything with Kreese and then Silver being his buddy, you'd think that would give more red flags.
from a bystander perspective since she never appeared once during Daniel's younger days, she would say his tormented past is simply because of the leader of Cobra Kai and not the whole Cobra Kai. The marriage itself already torn apart when she decided to listen to other people except her own husband since she herself deemed her husband is not at clear mind and always focusing on something that provided no benefit on their family. This led to many problems mainly because of her ignorance and just bluntly accused her husband when he is on the rock bottom, when she finally understand her husband plight then the marriage would heal itself altogether.

Really cool that Jessica is Amanda’s cousin. It makes that platonic friendship between her and Daniel one of the most important relationships in his life. Take it away and his entire life is different.
So awesome the show creators got Robin Lively to return as Jessica Andrews, and actually have her be someone still significant in Daniel's life. Didn't expect it to be Amanda's cousin and the one who introduced them, but still freaking awesome.
I really feel like "he didn't really get past it then did he?" is Daniel's entire character arc for 5 seasons. Both Johnny and Daniel's arcs are rooted in dealing with trauma. I feel like its easier to sympathize and understand where Johnny starts at the beginning of the series. His trauma lead him to rock bottom in every aspect of his life. It is out there and obvious. Daniel pushed down every bit of trauma he experienced. Never dealt with it. Put it in a box and built a seemingly successful life. Seeing one cobra kai sign in a dingy strip mall sent him spiraling and headlong in to a defense response. This show is a soap opera with kicks...and its so freaking good.
I just recently rewatched Karate Kid and I somehow completely forgot that Kreese choked the shit outta Johnny at the end of the movie. Holy fuck, between Kreese and what was alluded to about Sid it's a wonder Johnny didn't spiral more than he had.
This is why I have a hard time liking Amanda. She had to meet Kreese to see he’s crazy, and refused to believe Daniel about Silver until Jessica told her. Even Sam yelled at her once because she wasn’t getting it.
Man, I love Amanda to death! But I see where you’re coming from. I think she acts this way because she’s had peace in her marriage for so long, and then, out of the clear blue, Daniel’s past comes back with a vengeance and Daniel starts acting like a lunatic(but who can blame him?)
And don't get me started on her decision to lay into Tory on the clock. It was the wrong place, the wrong time, and the wrong approach, which was just the latest example of how impulsive she is. It's why I have a solid appreciation for Carmen: _she_ is a true Mama Bear.
She's extremely unpleasant. I don't like her and I have no patience for people who give her a pass. Part of Daniel's attempt to get past being a bullied wimp in California of the 1980s was getting a trohphy wife, a 'california girl' worthy of a successful businessman. It makes sense that his trophy wife is a sham with no real love coming from her direction. Good writing would have them get divorced. Then Daniel goes back to Okinawa and starts a relationship with his true love, Kumiko. Amanda meanwhile takes up with Johnny, who is "perfect" for her. They have a physical relationship but are a holes to each other. That relationship falls apart. Amanda blows her half of the divorce money and is forced to open a MILF Fans only page to make a living. She meets the wrong guy and has a highly unpleasant end. Meanwhile Daniel and Kumiko get married. Daniel finally finds balance. He's less wealthy but much happier.
I get what you're saying but her not understanding how dangerous Kreese is, is understandable since she never met the guy before (until s3) and she saw first hand how truly psychotic and dangerous he was. But for Silver I agree cause she knew that he and Kreese were war buddies so why would she take the word of a complete stranger over her own husband? Now I get Amanda is upset but she is squabbling over trivial stuff and missing the big picture. Terry Silver is practically brainwashing kids to become vicious soldiers for him to use against others.
Yeah, Jessica breaking down exactly what Terry did in that way. It really paints a picture of just how manipulated and hurt Daniel was because of the whole experience. I bet if we go back and watch KK part 3 again we'll all notice a lot more subtle things about Terry Silver that make him an incredible villain.
There is a reason I still enjoyed the third karate 3 film as the point of daniel was meant to think Terry was his friend unaware he wanted to bring out his worst side and sink him lower only to realize to his shock how far he was close to losing his way which is relatable that in life there always that one person who brings out the worst in us but that one person knows they care about us and knows they need to be put back on the right path
The way I remember; it was attempted murder. Barnes almost killed Jess and Daniel by leaving them down the mountain where the tide was coming in. Silver agreed to these methods. He stalked, and abused a 17/18-year-old kid.
I love and respect that they used footages from the original movies as flashbacks and didn’t desperately try to recast the younger counterparts of the main characters from the film series❤️

Amanda never undestood fully how Daniel's youth was influenced, i mean haunted by Cobra Kai, she think the problem can be resume just by "karate" and had that simplistic view of "no karate, no problems", for someone who's married to Daniel for so many years she really don't know him!

I feel like this both a lesson for Amanda on why Daniel is so afraid of Cobra Kai as well as the audience. So many people haven’t seen KKII or KKIII and are like “can’t you just let go of this silly karate rivalry from decades ago?” Yeah maybe if Daniels experience with Cobra Kai ended in the first movie. But when you see the other two, it makes sense that Daniel doesn’t want Cobra Kai to come back

It took her daughter's timely interception to drive home a point even Carmen would have gotten.
The second movie didn't really have Cobra Kai (except for the opening scene where Kreese strangles Johnny). But yeah the third movie, it really shows the number it did on Daniel. Sure, he went through a lot of crap in the first movie but all Johnny and his gang did was standard bullying while Mike Barnes and his gang did a lot of worse things that went beyond standard bullying like assault and battery, blackmail, threats of violence, etc. Plus, Mike was the only person whom Daniel feared (even more so than Chozen) cause I think the reasons why Daniel wasn't afraid of Chozen was because he knew Chozen had a sense of honor, Mike Barnes did not (at least until Cobra Kai s5).
I'd like to see a scene between Mike and Jessica where he apologises for that cowardly act of kicking her in the stomach. Maybe their relationship could mirror Chozen and Kumiko.

This was fantastic script writing from Cobra Kai creators. I'am glad that they were able to bring Jessica Andrews back. Additionally, they made her a cousin on Amanda LaRusso, which is genuis. More Importantly, she was able to give Amanda a run down on the torment and trauma Terry Silver caused on Daniel. Therefore, explaining the reason of why Daniel's crusade of taking down the criminal Karate Empire known as Cobra Kai along with Silver, Kim Da Eum and John Kreese. On another note, I like how Jessica encouraged Amanda to be supportive of Daniel and not be so harsh on him for protecting the family & others from torment he suffer as a kid. Finally, Jessica coming back into Miyagi verse was beneficial to keep history from repeating itself. Especially in the way Silver had turned on Daniel on her, Mr. Miyagi and Amanda, plus driving Daniel on the deep end.

According to Daniel, Ali wrecked his car and left him for a football player at UCLA right after the senior prom. Then we didn't hear from her again until she showed up in Cobra Kai, single again and an MD.
@@Montana-tw7im Nothing was ever implied about it being abusive. Like with Johnny, I think they were just long-term incompatible for a lasting relationship. As she stated in Cobra Kai, the parts of each other that Johnny and Daniel disliked the most were the ones where they were actually the most alike.

Also, in the movie, he (Johnny) forced a kiss on Ali to make Daniel jealous which nowadays would be borderline sexual harassment/assault depending on region.
Jessica: All to drive a wedge between Daniel and Mr Miyagi. And it worked. At least for a while. Daniel was really lucky that Mr Miyagi was a very forgiving sensei and an even greater friend.
When someone has been trough a trauma and been betrayed like that, it's hard to move on, being betrayed like that can wreck your soul. So getting past it, is almost impossible.
As Terry Silver's beautiful yet deadly ex wife JULIE PIERCE SILVER aka LADY SILVER who is also the mother of his son, whom Terry mysteriously refuses to acknowledge or accept as his own, played by Leo Howard.
You're not alone - I just want to see Julie & Daniel have a conversation at Miyagi's grave while paying their respects to him...or wherever the writers decide to have them meet. One can assume they likely met at Miyagi's funeral, but that's still up in the air. If the supposed "showdown" between the 2 of them happens, that'd certainly be interesting: especially if she finished Daniel off with the kick that she used to take Ned down
This is a prime example of a necessary appearance. I am so glad they brought Jessica back for moments like this. Amanda needed this wakeup call from someone who knew the history between Terry and Daniel.
Honestly I think this series is a masterclass on how to properly bring back legacy characters. They always have a purpose and a reason for being where they are, and they help to advance the story. Not just cheap cameos. I love this on in particular because the 5th season focuses very heavily on the effects of long-term outstanding trauma, and really makes the third movie better in retrospect because of how it boils down what happened to Daniel because of Silver. Over the course of months, he was lied to, manipulated, and gaslit into turning on his closest friend, inflicting harm on himself, and becoming the very thing he thought he was fighting against. It's not just as simple as "Terry Silver is another one of Daniel's enemies". Really, after everything that's happened in the series, we come to realize that Silver is *the* enemy. Daniel beat Johnny, he beat Chozen, Barnes was only the footsoldier, but Daniel never actually defeated Silver. He still fears him, he fears that everything that Silver did to him before could happen again, and that fear has put every decision Daniel has made in the series under a new light. When Jonny is giving his speech about wanting to bring back a better Cobra Kai, when he claims Kreese is dead, when Daniel suspects that Kyler isn't what he seems, or that Chozen change, all of that fear and suspicion traces directly back to Silver doing the same things. Honestly, whenever anyone accuses Daniel of being untrusting or behaving irrational when faced with his old enemies, it all comes down to this: Daniel's fear of Silver has left him with scars that just wouldn't heal, and that fear is also what stops him from really explaining to anyone why he's so scared. Hence, we need the only other living person who was also there to explain it for him. Enter, Jessica. Truly masterful writing.

Reminding us why Daniel has every reason to fear & Hate Silver, giving us a chance to see KK3 in a different light then we did when watched it the first time. Silver literally gave Daniel PTSD to the point where even mentioning Silvers name would bring back those awful memories of the torture & Trauma that Silver put him through (which is why he didn't), so bringing back Jessica (the only witness that Daniel had on his side), who was also attacked by Silvers goons & threatened with death, to explain to Amanda that Daniel has every reason to hate Silver as much as he does & even pointing out that even she still has nightmares about what Silver did to the point of not even mentioning what he did to her to her own family & you can see that even she struggled to recount everything that happened (only doing so for Daniel's benefit & sake & so that Amanda would finally understand what Daniel is really dealing with). Terry Silver is & always was Daniel's one true enemy.

That's an annoying habit of hers, especially given her attitude toward martial arts training. (Fortunately, her daughter didn't have that attitude, as the clash with the Rooney posse showed.) She has the same approach to their relationship as the audience that never saw the original Karate Kid trilogy has to this series.

I love how all of Daniel’s old girlfriends helped him out with his issues Ali helped Daniel n Johnny to get past each other n c that they had plenty in common, Kumiko helped Daniel by reuniting him with the girl he saved only 4 her to save his business, n Jessie helped him out with Amanda by telling her all about Terry Silver once again this show is freaking awesome how is it not the best thing on Netflix I’d like to know

I freaked out when I realized that Daniel's wife's friend was Jessica Andrews from Karate Kid III. At first I knew she looked like someone I had seen before, but that realization that it really was Jessica Andrews then to see her explain to Daniel's wife through flashbacks back to the Karate Kid III was perfect. The writing was so sharp this season! Sony definitely needs to use the writers for Cobra Kai for the new movie they announced. They will wreck the new film if they just hire some unproved Hollywood B type unimaginative writers and go with that story about kid named Li, it would be a huge missed opportunity.
actually she is her cousin and the reason why the couple in Karate Kid 3 had to break up because of the age gap between 2 of them so the Cobra Kai writers had to change it and then we got the current LaRusso family.

These flashback scenes are done so well and as much as some ppl might say they are just using them for "cheap heat", I think that they add so much more weight and gravity to the Cobra Kai series in a really cool way. Plus all of the old school Karate Kid fans always crack a smile every time they show a scene from one of the original movies. I think this series, in general, is done so well and I'm absolutely loving it. Literally can not get enough!! I am totally not surprised that they've just been cleared for a Season 6 because the content is pure gold. Truly hats off to the makers 🔥🔥

I cannot believe that this is how Daniel met Amanda. It took me a while to realize "OH THIS IS THE CHICK FROM KK3!!!" just as she choked on her beer at the mere mention of Silver.
Honestly you can't blame Amanda for getting mad at Daniel. After seeing how he treated Johnny at first because of their past, she probably thought he was overreacting, painting Silver as a monster just like he did with Johnny. This scene really highlights the difference between Johnny and Silver, as Johnny was just a kid with issues, while Silver is truly a monster.
The way Daniel treated Johnny in S1 was wrong there’s no question about that but honestly when it came to Silver Amanda should have taken Daniel seriously and supported her husband and not just left him especially when you consider that this right after she found out how right he was about Kreese as well as how dangerous Cobra Kai is to her kids and the kids of the Valley considering they broke into her home and assaulted everyone there. I hold Chozen to a really high degree in S5 because he really came through for Daniel and stuck by his side and supported him all the way through while Amanda just took the kids left: Sam can be forgiven because I believe that she would have stayed had she been given the choice and Johnny was dealing With Miguel and Robby and finding out that he was going to be a father again so he can be forgiven as well. It took Jessica coming for Amanda to finally open her eyes and realize that Daniel was telling her the truth this whole time. I love Amanda but you would think that when she found out about Kreese that she would be more understanding and stop doubting Daniel when it comes to Cobra Kai and the Sensei’s that run it.
Very clever way of bringing back Robyn Lively. With her character being Amanda's cousin, she would be the only one who could convince Amanda the truth about Terry Silver and single handedly saved their marriage.
Amanda feel like a damn fool after hearing all of this from Jessica. She's too over naive and harden, now she understands why her husband Daniel was acting very stressed cause she don't know what he and Jessica experienced with Terry Silver.

I knew Jessica would be brought back in some way, shape or form but I honestly saw her being Tory’s mom and that she would expose Silver to Tory. But this is a much better use of the character. Interesting that they keep Tory’s mom a mystery though.
after watching the third film I felt what made Terry silver work as a villain he knew how to bring Daniel into his world and knew how to get him to bring out his worst side as Silver is meant to show how A person can turn someone into something they aren't
You know that's probable actually a good thing especially considering that Mike Barns is more than likely to come back in order to help train the kids for the Seiki Teiki & it sort of in a way leaves the door open for that to get revealed to her upon when or after she actually meets him
I love how they made Jessica such an important character in Cobra Kai because I remember watching Karate Kid 3 for the first time when I was younger and I thought Jessica was the most pointless part of the whole movie and that if you took her out literally nothing would change. But here I love it that they made her Amanda’s cousin because if she wasn’t and wasn’t in the 3rd film then Daniel would’ve probably been on his own forever.
I think i read the writers for the movie put daniel and Jessica as friends in the third movie. Because of the 11 year age gap, Ralph was 27 and she was 16. Hard to believe Ralph is older than the actor who plays Terry silver

If I were Daniel when Amanda returned and said, "We're with you, you don't have to stop fighting." I would say like, "Oh, wow. Look who finally realized how stupid she was. What were you thinking listening to that ponytailed pussie over me, huh? Sorry, Amanda, but I'm done fighting. If you want to fight, do it yourself." However, I would at least be satisfied and calm down when she sincerely apologized at Mr. Miyagi's home.
The fact that Jessica had to step in and save their marriage shows what an awful wife Amanda is. If your husband says "This guy is dangerous/manipulative" then you listen to what he says, in the same way that a husband should listen to his damn wife if the roles were reversed.
Well, that's exactly what happened: her involvement with Tory ultimately led her to recount a horrible memory. Daniel didn't treat it like a joke, though he was understandably thrown off.
This is one of my favorite scenes of Cobra Kai. I love it when Jessica tells Amanda the truth about Terry Silver for what he did to Daniel back in the 80s. Amanda finally learns the truth and she felt so bad. It must’ve been so hard for her and she should’ve listened to Daniel. She had no right to leave her.

"I didn't know it got so intense." Amanda LaRusso gets amnesia every season I swear. Daniel said that Silver was the worst of Cobra Kai, a group of people who literally has put people in the hospital and committed multiple home invasions. That being said, a lot of this stuff in Cobra Kai is partly or mostly Daniel's fault for refusing to let things go repeatedly, and therefore putting his rivalry above his kids' safety.

I was legit surprised when I found out that Jesse was Amanda’s cousin, but it does work and their bond is very strong and so compelling to watch, I just hope that she will return in the final season and maybe she starts a friendship with Mike Barnes
Seriously. I don't hate her but the love for her is a bit ridiculous. She calls the marriage an open head wound because he gets back into something he did when he was younger. She ignores everything he says about Kreese, then only believes it after their house got busted into. Then she decided to ignore him again regarding Silver after he gives her one drink at a charity event. Very faithful wife. Meanwhile the karate she gets annoyed with is one reason she lives this lavish lifestyle.
And take a look at the scene in the restaurant where she confronted Tory _on the damn fucking clock!_ Can you imagine Jessica trying something like that?
1:06 I'm kinda surprised Daniel mever told her about it. Then again the crap he went through was so traumatic that he probably didn't want to talk about it. Plus, Cobra Kai was closed for good at the time (before Johnny re-opened it) so he didn't need to worry about it.

I don't think Amanda has ever truly understood everything that happened to Daniel then only someone who was there could truly do so. After all it took a face to face with Kreese for her to realize that.
And Amanda hit it right on the nose: Daniel never fully dealt with what happened. He couldn't explain the way Jessica could, as she either dealt with her end of it, or because she observed more of it than lived it, she can give a more logical observation vs an emotional one, which is harder for people who didn't experience it to understand.

I have to admit, I'd been hoping Jessica would be on the show at some point...while I did think it was kind of cool that she was Amanda's cousin, you can tell she still has a soft spot for Daniel. She saw him nearly lose everything in Part III and still understood what he was going through and forgave him for his actions.

To be honest, part of me feels like Amanda should realize these things already. The adults that were connected to past Cobra Kai were poison to Daniel. After everything with Kreese and then Silver being his buddy, you'd think that would give more red flags.
from a bystander perspective since she never appeared once during Daniel's younger days, she would say his tormented past is simply because of the leader of Cobra Kai and not the whole Cobra Kai. The marriage itself already torn apart when she decided to listen to other people except her own husband since she herself deemed her husband is not at clear mind and always focusing on something that provided no benefit on their family. This led to many problems mainly because of her ignorance and just bluntly accused her husband when he is on the rock bottom, when she finally understand her husband plight then the marriage would heal itself altogether.

I really feel like "he didn't really get past it then did he?" is Daniel's entire character arc for 5 seasons. Both Johnny and Daniel's arcs are rooted in dealing with trauma. I feel like its easier to sympathize and understand where Johnny starts at the beginning of the series. His trauma lead him to rock bottom in every aspect of his life. It is out there and obvious. Daniel pushed down every bit of trauma he experienced. Never dealt with it. Put it in a box and built a seemingly successful life. Seeing one cobra kai sign in a dingy strip mall sent him spiraling and headlong in to a defense response. This show is a soap opera with kicks...and its so freaking good.
I just recently rewatched Karate Kid and I somehow completely forgot that Kreese choked the shit outta Johnny at the end of the movie. Holy fuck, between Kreese and what was alluded to about Sid it's a wonder Johnny didn't spiral more than he had.
This is why I have a hard time liking Amanda. She had to meet Kreese to see he’s crazy, and refused to believe Daniel about Silver until Jessica told her. Even Sam yelled at her once because she wasn’t getting it.
Man, I love Amanda to death! But I see where you’re coming from. I think she acts this way because she’s had peace in her marriage for so long, and then, out of the clear blue, Daniel’s past comes back with a vengeance and Daniel starts acting like a lunatic(but who can blame him?)
And don't get me started on her decision to lay into Tory on the clock. It was the wrong place, the wrong time, and the wrong approach, which was just the latest example of how impulsive she is.
It's why I have a solid appreciation for Carmen: _she_ is a true Mama Bear.
She's extremely unpleasant. I don't like her and I have no patience for people who give her a pass. Part of Daniel's attempt to get past being a bullied wimp in California of the 1980s was getting a trohphy wife, a 'california girl' worthy of a successful businessman. It makes sense that his trophy wife is a sham with no real love coming from her direction. Good writing would have them get divorced. Then Daniel goes back to Okinawa and starts a relationship with his true love, Kumiko. Amanda meanwhile takes up with Johnny, who is "perfect" for her. They have a physical relationship but are a holes to each other. That relationship falls apart. Amanda blows her half of the divorce money and is forced to open a MILF Fans only page to make a living. She meets the wrong guy and has a highly unpleasant end. Meanwhile Daniel and Kumiko get married. Daniel finally finds balance. He's less wealthy but much happier.
I get what you're saying but her not understanding how dangerous Kreese is, is understandable since she never met the guy before (until s3) and she saw first hand how truly psychotic and dangerous he was. But for Silver I agree cause she knew that he and Kreese were war buddies so why would she take the word of a complete stranger over her own husband? Now I get Amanda is upset but she is squabbling over trivial stuff and missing the big picture. Terry Silver is practically brainwashing kids to become vicious soldiers for him to use against others.
Yeah, Jessica breaking down exactly what Terry did in that way. It really paints a picture of just how manipulated and hurt Daniel was because of the whole experience. I bet if we go back and watch KK part 3 again we'll all notice a lot more subtle things about Terry Silver that make him an incredible villain.
There is a reason I still enjoyed the third karate 3 film as the point of daniel was meant to think Terry was his friend unaware he wanted to bring out his worst side and sink him lower only to realize to his shock how far he was close to losing his way which is relatable that in life there always that one person who brings out the worst in us but that one person knows they care about us and knows they need to be put back on the right path
The way I remember; it was attempted murder. Barnes almost killed Jess and Daniel by leaving them down the mountain where the tide was coming in. Silver agreed to these methods. He stalked, and abused a 17/18-year-old kid.

You just have to look at the brouhaha with the "tramp stamp" posse to understand the attitude of the audience whose knowledge of the brand is contained exclusively within this series. It took her daughter's timely interception to drive home a point even Carmen would have gotten.
The second movie didn't really have Cobra Kai (except for the opening scene where Kreese strangles Johnny). But yeah the third movie, it really shows the number it did on Daniel. Sure, he went through a lot of crap in the first movie but all Johnny and his gang did was standard bullying while Mike Barnes and his gang did a lot of worse things that went beyond standard bullying like assault and battery, blackmail, threats of violence, etc. Plus, Mike was the only person whom Daniel feared (even more so than Chozen) cause I think the reasons why Daniel wasn't afraid of Chozen was because he knew Chozen had a sense of honor, Mike Barnes did not (at least until Cobra Kai s5).
I'd like to see a scene between Mike and Jessica where he apologises for that cowardly act of kicking her in the stomach. Maybe their relationship could mirror Chozen and Kumiko.

This was fantastic script writing from Cobra Kai creators. I'am glad that they were able to bring Jessica Andrews back. Additionally, they made her a cousin on Amanda LaRusso, which is genuis. More Importantly, she was able to give Amanda a run down on the torment and trauma Terry Silver caused on Daniel. Therefore, explaining the reason of why Daniel's crusade of taking down the criminal Karate Empire known as Cobra Kai along with Silver, Kim Da Eum and John Kreese. On another note, I like how Jessica encouraged Amanda to be supportive of Daniel and not be so harsh on him for protecting the family & others from torment he suffer as a kid. Finally, Jessica coming back into Miyagi verse was beneficial to keep history from repeating itself. Especially in the way Silver had turned on Daniel on her, Mr. Miyagi and Amanda, plus driving Daniel on the deep end.

According to Daniel, Ali wrecked his car and left him for a football player at UCLA right after the senior prom. Then we didn't hear from her again until she showed up in Cobra Kai, single again and an MD.
@@Montana-tw7im Nothing was ever implied about it being abusive. Like with Johnny, I think they were just long-term incompatible for a lasting relationship. As she stated in Cobra Kai, the parts of each other that Johnny and Daniel disliked the most were the ones where they were actually the most alike.

Also, in the movie, he (Johnny) forced a kiss on Ali to make Daniel jealous which nowadays would be borderline sexual harassment/assault depending on region.
Jessica: All to drive a wedge between Daniel and Mr Miyagi. And it worked. At least for a while.
Daniel was really lucky that Mr Miyagi was a very forgiving sensei and an even greater friend.

One can assume they likely met at Miyagi's funeral, but that's still up in the air. If the supposed "showdown" between the 2 of them happens, that'd certainly be interesting: especially if she finished Daniel off with the kick that she used to take Ned down

This is a prime example of a necessary appearance. I am so glad they brought Jessica back for moments like this. Amanda needed this wakeup call from someone who knew the history between Terry and Daniel.
Honestly I think this series is a masterclass on how to properly bring back legacy characters. They always have a purpose and a reason for being where they are, and they help to advance the story. Not just cheap cameos. I love this on in particular because the 5th season focuses very heavily on the effects of long-term outstanding trauma, and really makes the third movie better in retrospect because of how it boils down what happened to Daniel because of Silver. Over the course of months, he was lied to, manipulated, and gaslit into turning on his closest friend, inflicting harm on himself, and becoming the very thing he thought he was fighting against. It's not just as simple as "Terry Silver is another one of Daniel's enemies". Really, after everything that's happened in the series, we come to realize that Silver is *the* enemy. Daniel beat Johnny, he beat Chozen, Barnes was only the footsoldier, but Daniel never actually defeated Silver. He still fears him, he fears that everything that Silver did to him before could happen again, and that fear has put every decision Daniel has made in the series under a new light. When Jonny is giving his speech about wanting to bring back a better Cobra Kai, when he claims Kreese is dead, when Daniel suspects that Kyler isn't what he seems, or that Chozen change, all of that fear and suspicion traces directly back to Silver doing the same things. Honestly, whenever anyone accuses Daniel of being untrusting or behaving irrational when faced with his old enemies, it all comes down to this:
Daniel's fear of Silver has left him with scars that just wouldn't heal, and that fear is also what stops him from really explaining to anyone why he's so scared. Hence, we need the only other living person who was also there to explain it for him. Enter, Jessica. Truly masterful writing.

Reminding us why Daniel has every reason to fear & Hate Silver, giving us a chance to see KK3 in a different light then we did when watched it the first time. Silver literally gave Daniel PTSD to the point where even mentioning Silvers name would bring back those awful memories of the torture & Trauma that Silver put him through (which is why he didn't), so bringing back Jessica (the only witness that Daniel had on his side), who was also attacked by Silvers goons & threatened with death, to explain to Amanda that Daniel has every reason to hate Silver as much as he does & even pointing out that even she still has nightmares about what Silver did to the point of not even mentioning what he did to her to her own family & you can see that even she struggled to recount everything that happened (only doing so for Daniel's benefit & sake & so that Amanda would finally understand what Daniel is really dealing with). Terry Silver is & always was Daniel's one true enemy.

I freaked out when I realized that Daniel's wife's friend was Jessica Andrews from Karate Kid III. At first I knew she looked like someone I had seen before, but that realization that it really was Jessica Andrews then to see her explain to Daniel's wife through flashbacks back to the Karate Kid III was perfect. The writing was so sharp this season! Sony definitely needs to use the writers for Cobra Kai for the new movie they announced. They will wreck the new film if they just hire some unproved Hollywood B type unimaginative writers and go with that story about kid named Li, it would be a huge missed opportunity.
actually she is her cousin and the reason why the couple in Karate Kid 3 had to break up because of the age gap between 2 of them so the Cobra Kai writers had to change it and then we got the current LaRusso family.

These flashback scenes are done so well and as much as some ppl might say they are just using them for "cheap heat", I think that they add so much more weight and gravity to the Cobra Kai series in a really cool way. Plus all of the old school Karate Kid fans always crack a smile every time they show a scene from one of the original movies. I think this series, in general, is done so well and I'm absolutely loving it. Literally can not get enough!! I am totally not surprised that they've just been cleared for a Season 6 because the content is pure gold. Truly hats off to the makers 🔥🔥
It helps when it's the same actors too. Because when they are flashbacks you want a seamless transition. Not a reminder that it's two different people.

I cannot believe that this is how Daniel met Amanda. It took me a while to realize "OH THIS IS THE CHICK FROM KK3!!!" just as she choked on her beer at the mere mention of Silver.

That moment was the most heartwarming moment she's had in Cobra Kai, and that's how the show introduces her!! I love it!!
This solidified Jessica not being a total waste in KK3. Next to Miyagi, she was probably the closest friend Daniel has had since.
Honestly you can't blame Amanda for getting mad at Daniel. After seeing how he treated Johnny at first because of their past, she probably thought he was overreacting, painting Silver as a monster just like he did with Johnny. This scene really highlights the difference between Johnny and Silver, as Johnny was just a kid with issues, while Silver is truly a monster.
The way Daniel treated Johnny in S1 was wrong there’s no question about that but honestly when it came to Silver Amanda should have taken Daniel seriously and supported her husband and not just left him especially when you consider that this right after she found out how right he was about Kreese as well as how dangerous Cobra Kai is to her kids and the kids of the Valley considering they broke into her home and assaulted everyone there. I hold Chozen to a really high degree in S5 because he really came through for Daniel and stuck by his side and supported him all the way through while Amanda just took the kids left: Sam can be forgiven because I believe that she would have stayed had she been given the choice and Johnny was dealing With Miguel and Robby and finding out that he was going to be a father again so he can be forgiven as well. It took Jessica coming for Amanda to finally open her eyes and realize that Daniel was telling her the truth this whole time. I love Amanda but you would think that when she found out about Kreese that she would be more understanding and stop doubting Daniel when it comes to Cobra Kai and the Sensei’s that run it.
Very clever way of bringing back Robyn Lively. With her character being Amanda's cousin, she would be the only one who could convince Amanda the truth about Terry Silver and single handedly saved their marriage.

Amanda feel like a damn fool after hearing all of this from Jessica. She's too over naive and harden, now she understands why her husband Daniel was acting very stressed cause she don't know what he and Jessica experienced with Terry Silver.

The first thing Mike would be doing would be apologizing to Jessica for kicking her on the stomach.
I knew Jessica would be brought back in some way, shape or form but I honestly saw her being Tory’s mom and that she would expose Silver to Tory. But this is a much better use of the character. Interesting that they keep Tory’s mom a mystery though.

after watching the third film I felt what made Terry silver work as a villain he knew how to bring Daniel into his world and knew how to get him to bring out his worst side as Silver is meant to show how A person can turn someone into something they aren't
I was amazed that Jessica didn't tell Amanda about Silver conspiring with an eighteen-year-old man to harass her and Daniel.
You know that's probable actually a good thing especially considering that Mike Barns is more than likely to come back in order to help train the kids for the Seiki Teiki & it sort of in a way leaves the door open for that to get revealed to her upon when or after she actually meets him
I love how they made Jessica such an important character in Cobra Kai because I remember watching Karate Kid 3 for the first time when I was younger and I thought Jessica was the most pointless part of the whole movie and that if you took her out literally nothing would change. But here I love it that they made her Amanda’s cousin because if she wasn’t and wasn’t in the 3rd film then Daniel would’ve probably been on his own forever.

I think i read the writers for the movie put daniel and Jessica as friends in the third movie. Because of the 11 year age gap, Ralph was 27 and she was 16. Hard to believe Ralph is older than the actor who plays Terry silver

I wonder if they're going to bring the main actress from The Next Karate Kid because that would be fairly interesting.

I would say like, "Oh, wow. Look who finally realized how stupid she was. What were you thinking listening to that ponytailed pussie over me, huh? Sorry, Amanda, but I'm done fighting. If you want to fight, do it yourself."
However, I would at least be satisfied and calm down when she sincerely apologized at Mr. Miyagi's home.
The fact that Jessica had to step in and save their marriage shows what an awful wife Amanda is.

This is one of my favorite scenes of Cobra Kai. I love it when Jessica tells Amanda the truth about Terry Silver for what he did to Daniel back in the 80s. Amanda finally learns the truth and she felt so bad. It must’ve been so hard for her and she should’ve listened to Daniel. She had no right to leave her.

Amanda LaRusso gets amnesia every season I swear. Daniel said that Silver was the worst of Cobra Kai, a group of people who literally has put people in the hospital and committed multiple home invasions. That being said, a lot of this stuff in Cobra Kai is partly or mostly Daniel's fault for refusing to let things go repeatedly, and therefore putting his rivalry above his kids' safety.
Nah, people process differently. Spouses can tell each other stuff, but because of the way they communicate, it may not hit til someone else tells the person, a 3rd party.

Seriously. I don't hate her but the love for her is a bit ridiculous. She calls the marriage an open head wound because he gets back into something he did when he was younger. She ignores everything he says about Kreese, then only believes it after their house got busted into. Then she decided to ignore him again regarding Silver after he gives her one drink at a charity event. Very faithful wife. Meanwhile the karate she gets annoyed with is one reason she lives this lavish lifestyle.
And take a look at the scene in the restaurant where she confronted Tory _on the damn fucking clock!_ Can you imagine Jessica trying something like that?
